I had a great experience with Kennedy Management managing my rental property. They managed my 3 bedroom house in West Palmdale for several years. They marketed my rental very well so that we had A LOT of potential tenants to choose from. We were able to find great, responsible tenants, which is VERY difficult to do here in the AV. Jon really looks out for the interests of the property owners that hire him to manage their properties. He also looks after the interests of the tenants in order to keep happy customers for the property. Some people complain that Kennedy Management is not friendly enough. I found them to be very business-like. They have VERY high standards for the tenants they rent to, but they also have appropriately high expectations of the property owner. Jon helped make sure that the property was in good condition and that all legal requirements were met. He understands, and helps the owner understand, how to provide a quality property to good tenants so that everybody is happy with the business arrangement and everything goes as smoothly as possible. This is called a win-win situation. I hired them to provide me a service, not be my BFF, and they did an excellent job of managing my rental property. I have had managers in the past that ripped me off with inflated and phony repair bills. Jon did not do that. Jon has people to handle maintenance issues and the costs are very reasonable. One of the things he does is help the owner maintain things so catastrophic failures requiring major repair costs don't occur. I had to sell the house, but if I buy another rental in AV I will definitely hire Kennedy Management to manage my property. I am convinced this is a shell company used for money laundering because they have put so many deterrents in place for you to NOT want to rent a property from them and this has been going on for over a decade from the looks of other dated reviews. It's hard to believe but Jon really is as bad as people have said he is. STAY AWAY if you value respectful, professional, HONEST, courteous dialogue between yourself and your rental property management company. This is the first time I've ever written a review on a rental property management company but I felt compelled to inform any future prospects to avoid renting any properties under them like the plague. Jon was caught in a lie when he tried telling my fiance that the property we had put in an application for had multiple interested people and they were cancelling showings for us. He did this in order to create a sense of urgency for us to move in earlier than our move in date we wrote on the application. This was confirmed by Melinda earlier when we were told that we were the only applicants and there weren't any scheduled showings. When confronted, Jon was not shy about letting us know that Melinda would be spoken to FOR TELLING PROSPECTIVE TENANTS THE TRUTH! The first inkling of UNPROFESSIONALISM came when my employer was sent our full rental application instead of just their required portion to fill out. My employers' owners even thought that was unprofessional as they had never seen that happen to an employee when applying for a house and they've been in business nearly 60 years! Jon can't help himself but make rude remarks throughout a conversation, it's like a reflex for him. I won't repeat how belittling and dismissive he was to my fiance but he did not hesitate to inform us that he did not care about us multiple times. Although we were approved, we decided to walk away after experiencing Jon. We realized that if he was this bad before we even moved in, he could only get so much worse after we signed the lease and were locked in for a year. Absolutely the worse management company you can ever work with. Make sure you take your own pictures and notes of any damages to property prior to move in. They will charge you for damages that were noted in agreement but yet charged for before moving out. Simple words as "dent" in door and turned into "hole" in door during final walk through."Scratched in over turned into "Peeled" Damages were done but charged us for it. The owner is impossible to talk to. Property management owner will show up to property un announced claiming he needs to do an inspection. read more

My boyfriend and I looked at a property to rent about a month or so ago. Provided proof of income (I make 9x the rent as a travel nurse), both meet credit requirements, clean rental history. They made us jump through hoops even though I could have paid off the whole year lease within 2 months with my income. They didn't like that I was a travel nurse and worked in contracts. Its illegal to discriminate based on somebody's form of income. Sent them everything they asked for, multiple times. Called the office multiple times. Never heard back. Super unprofessional to work with. That house is STILL on their website to be leased. I feel bad for the owners of the properties. This company is wasting owners' money not leasing to qualified applicants. Don't bother trying to rent from them. read more

And even the, he illegally touched ALL MY BELONGINGS packed it up half garbage and half my stuff (I've been I'll so my house was a mess) said I could get it AFTER I REMOVED this review. They are so quick to ask for their rent but take forever to process requests to fix anything or answer any of your questions! Not this company I spoke with agent Gloria and she really helped me navigate thru the site and find some really nice places. I rented a condo with Kennedy Real Estate Management from December 2014 to April of 2017. It was a pleasure working with them. Through out that time, I did not have any issues and was also greeted with a smiling, friendly face when I would take my check in every month. I wish I could remember the sweet lady's name at the front desk, but for me, I always felt like it was a good experience as she was sweet and even greeted me by name. I am sorry for those who did not have a good experience, but I would not let only those reviews stray you away from this company. I have no doubt and do not want to downplay what others went through as I was not there for their experience, but for me, my experience was lovely. In the beginning there was some issues with Kennedy Real Estate Management, as goes with many companies we all do business with. However, initially I felt it a personal attack due to discrepancies in my name on all required documents, later come to find out, they were just doing their job, it was nothing personal. Though we started off a bit rocky, things went well. Such an example, the roof was found to have a minimal leak during some rain, they did their part calling the roofing company, it did take a while to get it fixed, however that was again not their mistake or error, it was simply the roofing company who could not accommodate in time, and in the end it still got done, they cleaned up and all was well. For renting in a rural area, I could have ended up with a random Joe-Shmo, who could care less about anything with their rental house, but it was nice having such a well organized rental company such as theirs. read more

Aweful, ridiculous, rude and unproffesional. First of all, as soon as you come in their "office", you have the impression of entering a ghetto pawn shop. I told them I will send a copy as soon as I am in NYC. They would not have it. Even though my income is very good and my credit is good. My husband lived in a townhome managed by Kennedy for 11 years without problems, but when he moved out things went South fast. Kennedy kept almost his entire security deposit and refused to provide an itemized breakdown of why he kept the money. After formally requesting the itemized information and invoices for work he still wouldn't send us anything. My husband ended up taking him to small claims court and the judge ruled in our favor, ordering him to pay the full security deposit. Kennedy then appealed the decision and so we had to go back to court again. After that court date the judge determined his appeal was in bad faith, he only appealed because he didn't like the ruling not because he had new information to present. He was then ordered to pay the full deposit PLUS an $800 fine. I would not recommend anyone rent from him, he seems to want to take advantage of anyone moving out by keeping as much of the deposit as possible with no explanation. And had we been moving out of town he would have been able to get away with it, since we wouldn't be able to come back and forth for court. read more

DO NOT go through this company. Rented a house from the company and from the very beginning I had a feeling it was not going to be good doing business with them. Anytime there were any maintenance issues with the house it took several days and sometimes several calls before anyone would come over to fix the issue. When I finally moved out of the house they took as much money possible from my deposit even though I had cleaners come to the house and made it look just like when I first moved in. Not to mention it took two months after I moved out and over a dozen calls to finally get my deposit mailed back to me. Beware of this company. Giving them 1 star because I have no other choice!!! I definitely should have read these reviews before I handed them $25 pp application fee and my information. This company is a joke and they are running a scam on people and the property owners. I wanted to apply for a house to rent but I had just returned to work from maternity leave and didn't have my pay-stub form work for a month yet although I have worked there for 7 yrs they said I needed 1 month so to try to apply in a month if the house was still available and informed me there were already 3 applications in for that property. 1 month later the house was still available so we got all the papers together and applied for the house, when we applied they said there was now 5 new applications before us and while we were there 3 more people came in to apply for the same property so now they had 11 applications for that same property. (How many applications do you need to pick someone sheesh) after calling everyday they finally called me a week later to tell me that I had been declined. I drive by this house almost every day on my way home this home today is still available so I guess they declined all 11 applications huh. So let's say there were 2 applicants per application that's $550 they just made from us applicants and they are still taking applications right now, plus I'm sure they are charging the owner a monthly fee, and in the meantime she is still paying her mortgage. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY JUST SCAM PEOPLE!!! read more

I Guess you can't take anyone with you to look at the apartment. My Boyfriend came with me to see the apartment & when I turned my application in the next day she asked me about my Boyfriend will he be staying with me . I told her no . It will be just me & my teenage daughter. She kept inquiring & assuming that he will be staying with me & he needs to be on the Lease , after I told her 3 times that he will not be staying with me ! Then she went on about my credit. She said my credit score needs to be 620 or higher. Which mines is well above 620. I have very good credit !!!! She was just very Rude & disrespectful. I think her name was Connie . I've been on my job for over 20 years . It's all about how you treat people no matter their ethnicity! They were just plain out rude & disrespectful . Please be aware, this company discriminates and gives people a hard time to rent property's that they don't even own! They act like they are in control but are very unprofessional. They gone tell me because my middle initial was not on my ID but was on my social security card, that they could not take my application. Un freaking believable! My credit score is 715 and have great tenant history,they expect you to jump through hurdles to rent out one of their unmaintained property's, they don't even pay for water or gardening on most of the rentals. I am not sure where to start with this company. My wife, baby, and I were living in the home they rented to us in lake Hughes. When we moved in one of the toilets would not stop running. We let them know and they took over 2 weeks to send out their "handy man" to simply replace the guts of the toilet. Problem solved. Then our garage door fell off the runners and the cable went off track. The door would not close or lock until they had an outside company come fix it over a week later. Luckily the neighbors are trustworthy enough not to try and break into the garage when we were away. Then near thanksgiving is when it all hit the fan. We had started to notice mouse droppings in the kitchen. We emailed this company to let them know. They replied that pest control was our responsibility and gave us a list of exterminators. We went away for a few days over thanksgiving weekend and when we came back, there was mouse droppings and urine EVERYWHERE. The counter was covered, I could see it accumulating behind the fridge all over the floor and shelf in both closets, on our bed, in our baby's crib, under all the sinks, and all throughout our drawers where we had cloths. There where holes chewed in the walls in both closets, the full bath, another in the far wall in the baby's room and under the sink in the kitchen. After we came home, we packed up and immediately left. I had Terminex out 2 days later. The inspector showed me where all the holes were and had me look up in the attic to see there were multiple holes in the roof that mice could easily get into the house. He passed the info onto to this management company and they did nothing with it. The owner, John, was condescending to my wife when she explained why we cancelled our rent check for December. Our lease was up at the beginning of January so they just waited us out until our lease was over. The health department had been contacted and was pretty much zero help in resolving this issue before our lease was up. We were planning on renewing our lease until we saw how little this company values its customers. The owner of this company went to the house himself and saw all the droppings and holes and told us it "wasn't that bad" and he couldn't understand why we wouldn't live there anymore. Maybe because my child's life and the health of my pregnant wife isn't worth it. I plan on calling the health department again tomorrow to let them know that the house is back on the rental market and I would not be surprised if nothing has been done to correct the problem. I wish I would have read some of these reviews before doing business with them. Hopefully you will read the reviews before it's too late. read more
