Once again Yelp saves the day (or at least a boring few hours in Canton, Ohio). Flew into Ohio a few weeks ago to meet with a customer and had literally hours to kill so I headed to downtown Canton to see if I could find anything to do. After a few minutes on my handy Yelp app this little BBQ joint kept popping up on the search results; sold. The location was outside of downtown and almost looked a little bit in the middle of nowhere; I never would have known to come here without Yelp. This was the best lunch I had the entire trip. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good although nothing to rave about, but (1) the helping was huge and (2) their relish is awesome. I've never had anything quite like that and I wish I could have bought some to take home (they do sell it in jars to-go but relish setting in a car for hours didn't sound like a sanitary decision). It looked almost like mustard seed as the main ingredient (cabbage?) was chopped super-fine; it wasn't more of a vinegar taste then sweet or spciy, but Idon't think there was vinegar in it. Basically no one knows the recipe and it's a family secret. Their sweet BBQ sauce was also some of the best I've ever had; perfect balance of tanginess. So the sauce and relish seem to just elevate the meat from good to great. I also decided to try their 'famous' bean soup with chunks of ham in it. It seemed that the ham sandwich is their specialty, but if you want to try a little bit (correction, a LOT bit) of everything then the white bean soup with the pork sandwich offers a good sampling of their menu. And since I was in no rush I hung around for a bit and then tried a slice of homemade black raspberry pie, sans the ice cream. Was pretty good but I think it was just canned fruit and I doubt the dough was scratch made. So if you find yourself near or in Canton and looking for a bit to eat just off the highway (or are visiting the NFL Hall of Fame right nearby) then skip the regular roadside chains and venture over to Kenndey's. As a bonus if it's a nice day you can grab some food to go and picnic across the street in McKinley Memorial Park.

I put it straight in the trash, GROSS

Kennedy's bbq has gone DOWNHILL!! So sad really. So today I went in at 2:00, the guy serving was also the sandwich maker, and no he never washed his hands. I ordered soup and a ham sandwich. He was flying all over the place, he looked overwhelmed. I should've walked out. But instead i received my food and went directly to the monument to eat. First my soup. I put a spoonful in my mouth, IT WAS FREEZING COLD. Disgusting to say the least. My crackers were even stale. Ughhh. So next my sandwich I open it up to put the relish and bbq sauce on it and i barely see any meat, so unlike them also. My meat was mostly fat and chunky at that. GROSS!! I know its in a suspect neighborhood but they don't have to stoop so low. Id rather eat Two fat guys in Perry or Hog heaven on Cleveland ave. Ill never ever go back!!! I'm the saddest person in Canton.

This was meh for me. We had gotten a buy one, get one half-off coupon from the nearby McKinley Presidential Library. I got a beef brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich to-go with all the toppings. Both sandwiches' contents were cold and didn't have enough BBQ sauce. Their famous relish was super vinegary and didn't have a lot of flavor. Wouldn't recommend it, but the total was only $7.50 for two sandwiches.

This restaurant should cease operations immediately. Our first time will be our last time. One star…read morebecause yelp requires at least one. Family was there for dinner on Friday. No one was there dining. When you walked in, the first thing you see is a smoker or grill with a propane tank stored inside the front door, along with a generator and a generator cord sitting on the floor. Attendant at the counter seemed visibly annoyed we had the audacity to even walk in the door. Asked her what was good. She said everything. In retrospect, I don't think she'd actually ever eaten there. I should have realized with the row of crockpots on the back counter I was not going to be in for a good meal. We all ordered a two meat combo, brisket and pulled pork, with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Wife got beans instead of potatoes. We all got a fountain drink. When filling up our drinks, the Coke Zero and Diet Coke both ran clear with no color and was literally soda water. When we brought this to the attention of the staff we were told "that's just the way that it is." No effort on the part of the staff was made to correct the situation. After a short wait, our food arrived. The brisket was so salty it could not be eaten. The pulled pork was watery and tasted like canned meat. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were bland and tasted old. I would have complained about the meal but after the soda incident, it seemed pointless and I expected the same answer. I recommend avoiding this place. "It's just the way that it is. "

Not real bbq. Crock pot brisket. Freeze dried or store bought sides. It says grandmas coleslaw on…read morethe menu, hinting towards a family or old timey recipe. Nope litterally the brand grandmas from the store. Mashed potatoes claimed Yukon gold making you think they're fresh made. Nope instant. Jalapeños in bacon were decent, fried pickles were frozen. They try to come off as a small bbq joint but it's actually owned by a person/company that's owns several other restaurants that try to come off in the same small time place. Will not be coming back or seeking out their food truck they proudly park out front. Staff was very friendly and quick. The only redeeming quality this place has is the price, it's fairly cheap however I'd go to McDonald's before returning here.

Got a $6 dollar Tuesday chicken sandwich that comes with fries. Got a drink as well and everything…read morewas under $10. Very good chicken sandwich, the sauces we good as well. Ordered at the front and food was brought to us, it was packed at 1pm on Tuesday, and for good reason. I will come back another Tuesday to get their Nashville hot chicken. Very satisfied, and amazing bang for your buck on the discounted day.

The Good: great…read moretasting chicken: Danielle had the chicken & waffles and i had a 4 piece meal w/ fried Brussel sprouts. we both agreed that the chicken was delicious and perfectly fried/crispy. the chicken fingers were also huge. i was worried that 4 chicken fingers wasn't going to be enough to fill me up but i was full by the time I'd eaten 2. each finger was the width of 2 fingers you'd get somewhere else. beverage options: i'm diabetic so i stick to diet/zero sugar sodas or teas. not only did they have diet pepsi, but had diet dr. pepper as well. score! and that cold soda was needed... The Bad (or Bad-ish): Howlin Sauce: incredibly hot/spicy for just a sriracha based sauce. i eat lots of hot and spicy dishes. it wasn't that it tasted bad - in fact, quite the opposite - but it scorched my tongue like nothing has in a while. No Chill (ha): Danielle's chicken and waffles was swimming in syrup so by her waffles were soggy as hell by the time she'd finished. she still loved the meal and just said she'd ask for it on the side next time. Messy: when we arrived, we saw a number of parties leaving one after another. i assume this would be the reason that most of the tables were covered in dirty dishes and empty cups and glasses. since you order at the counter and seat yourself, servers are not around to check on you or the state of the restaurant. so, tables remained messy for a little while before they were cleaned up. Ordering: i don't like the ordering at the counter and lack of server service. the place doesn't look to be set up that way. you'd think there would be servers as it's kinda like a larger bar. instead you order, sit, wait for your food and you're on your own. it's a little like BW3 was back in the day. Slow: seemed to take a long time for chicken fingers. not a huge deal, but i wouldn't have guessed it'd take so long. i don't want to give the impression, though, that it was more bad than good. the food definitely outweighed the negatives. it's a long way from home but i'd go back for sure. i'd like to try some wings and some other sides as well as some of their appetizers.
