Kenny is the man, Kimberly is the sweetest woman ever. I've always grown up in the area and have been there only for strings and smaller items, however Kimberly has known me by name since i was 13 and I had not even know hers til a year ago or so. Kenny fixed the intonation on my 80s strat that guitar center absolutely fucked up and Kenny did his magic. Tell Kenny what you play and he'll set you up for a great deal! Kimberley not only helped me restring my ukulele, but she went the extra mile to clean salt and super glue stains I had on my uke, fix the zippers to my carrier bag and called me to ask how I'd like my uke tuned .... I want to learn to play the ukulele. I knew I wanted a concert ukulele, and had read everything I could find about the different brands, sizes, types of wood, etc. I stopped into Guitar Center yesterday, and got a dismissive attitude from the kid on the floor. That is, until a man came in 5 minutes later. Then he was all over him. So today, after shopping for rock to construct my garden wall (myself), I stopped in to Kenny's. I was greeted warmly by Kim and the 2 others in the room. Kim listened to me and sold me a beautiful Amahi Concert ukulele, a gig bag and tuner. Yes I'll be looking up lessons on the interweb to get my feet wet, but I will definitely be back to Kenny's for lessons. The place is a complete rip off. I asked them to straighten the neck and a few other things and they ended up putting on new strings on it with out telling me, they said maybe it could need them we will let you know though. I asked for a estimate on how much straighten the neck would be from the begin and never got a answer . It took three days to do what ever they did. To top it all off they charge more than any other place would have charged never again will i take my stuff there. read more

Well I was very happy that a new shop opened in Dana Point. I went in a few times in the past , all good no problems at all ... Until last year I brought in my guitar and amp for a service and some minor fixes. It took three months, amp repair guy was unavailable or some excuse I don't really remember... Not sure what they did to the guitar but it was missing a Allen screw... And the amp made bad grounding sounds/noises. So after a long wait I went to pick them up, the amp looked ok, I did not plug it in ... The guitar had a one inch long screw instead of the probably 1/4 inch long screw... It's like they did not even try. Needless to say 150 bucks later my stuff was the same as it was when I brought it in... Today I went in again, and let's just say I was pretty bummed on the way things went... One guy sitting around plucking a guitar acting way too cool asking me some weird questions... As if I had no idea of anything...Made me feel pretty uncomfortable. I probably won't go back. I rather drive to guitar center and not only get a better deal but at least they don't try to take advantage of you and till now, nobody thought I was an idiot at GC. I love supporting local mom and pops shops but drop the attitude and bad business practices guys. read more
