My sons started here this past year & they love it! its in the back of the Record store which is pretty cool because it just has great music vibes all around. They give lessons in every area of music from what I know...voice, piano, guitar, bass, drums, wind instruments, etc. My son is taking electric guitar lesson with Mr. Biff who is so good with him...they make it fun for the kids and my son is only 7 and can shockingly play a few songs just after a few months, its pretty incredible. He's learning the basics of music theory (readings notes on paper for the songs he's learning and understanding where those notes are on the guitar strings, syncing it all together and reading music and playing the notes on the guitar right in front of my eyes..i really still cant believe he can do that after such a short period of time and at such a young age. They have really cool equipment that helps the kids engage in their lessons. Basically his lessons fly by for him and he doesnt want them to end. They also have this fun system where they get play money for their efforts and can "buy" things from their little prize station. Its kinda like getting prizes at an arcade with tickets. The kids LOVE IT...its the little things like this matter, especially with kids. It's not some formal boring music school its got a vibe, culture, they do open mic and events for the kid musicians outside of the normal classes. Its just a really cool community it seems and I'm so glad we got started here. All the teachers seem extremely talented. Definitely feeling lucky that we have this here in San Clemente! read more

Beach Cities Rock Club is a great place to learn to play an instrument. My kIds have been coming here for about 6 months now and are really improving. My daughter has her own ideas about what and how she wants to learn, while my son needs more guided instruction. Their teachers (Mr. Biff and Mr. Cody) work really well with their individual learning styles keeping the kids simultaneously interested and challenged. Administration-wise, they have a pretty flexible policy--they work with you to schedule make-up lessons if you're not able to make it for your scheduled lesson. The Covid-19 thing threw a wrench in the studio lessons, but BCRC got up and running wIth Zoom lessons quickly so progress wasn't halted. They have a "can do" approach to teaching music. read more

Total transparency, I am a teacher and Program Director at Beach Cities Rock Club and am writing a review to share how much this school means to me. As a person who has worked at other schools, what strikes me about Beach Cities Rock Club is the care the staff has for its students. This care for all of their students has been made clear to me through their professionalism and how they actively communicate to students and parents. Some schools do not want to establish and maintain dialogue between parents and students but the staff at BCRC are busy with prioritizing this. They offer music videos, recording opportunities, and open mics for students - valuing the interests of the individual. Further, they work with parents to find out what is appropriate for the growth of each student as a musician and person. I have been very grateful to be part of this school, teach quite a bit of the students, and add to the positive impact BCRC has upon its community. read more

I highly recommend Beach Cities for anyone interested in music lessons/classes in San Clemente. My daughter is taking ukulele lessons here and absolutely loves it! She has been taking lessons for about three months now and is already showing huge improvement. Mr. Biff tailors his lessons according to how much progress she makes each week, explains lessons in a way that she can comprehend, and teachers her songs that are popular so she stays interested. This morning I heard her play and was so impressed at her strumming technique and timing that I thought it was her dad playing the song. On top of the excellent one-on-one instruction, Beach Cities Rock Club also offers a number of benefits for its students such as the ability to record songs and have them mastered and played on the radio as well as the opportunity to use the space for practicing in one of the rooms. There are a number of instructors here so kids can learn nearly any instrument or work with someone who specializes in their chosen genre (not just rock). read more

My daughter Lily has taken piano lessons with Biff and voice/piano lessons with Elizabeth for two years now. I love their approach to teaching music in regard to tweens and teens. My daughter learns songs that she can relate to and appreciate like The Beatles, Adele, Ellie Goulding, Elton John etc...the music teachers are kind, enthusiastic and patient.
