Just about an hour and a half from north Denver. It was a beautiful drive up and once at the pass...crowded. It might have been the 50-60 degree sunny day but it was crowded. The campground was closed so we walked through that area first. Once on the trails we climbed and enjoyed the trees. There were too many there that were not there for the hikes based on how they were dressed. We decided to go off the trail and climb along the power lines. The views were to die for and listening to the aspen leaves rustle was so relaxing. Worth the drive and the hike but it is steep and people, wear hiking boots not sneakers!

There are no bathrooms or trash cans at this trailhead. So be forewarned. Be prepared to pack out what you pack in. INCLUDING your dog poop bags!!! Please do not leave you bags for other people! Saw a gazillion bags at the trailhead and it was so sad. If i had been in my own car i would have done some trail clean up because that was so not okay. There was also a CRAP TON of people here omg. cars for lines and lines. there were several parking lots and all of them full and along side teh road...... So. many. people. Aside from all that, the colors were beautiful and i loved being on the colorado trail! after we got further on the trail there was less people and it became more peaceful. I will definitely be back in the future to do this segment of the trail. so much beauty! and lots of yellow i can see why its a popular spot for fall colors.

Beautiful trails and ample parking just have to be careful while crossing highway 285 to get to the trail or back to parking Just don't use the toilet unless you have an oxygen mask

Even on a dreary, chilly day, late in the leaf peeping season - Kenosha Pass still managed to charm the pants off me! No, not literally. Figuratively of course! Kenosha Pass offers some epic Aspen groves to get your "Colorado Gold" fix in the fall. So I made my way to 10,000 feet this past weekend to soak up that gorgeous fall foliage. It did not disappoint! Though I was not the only one with this idea. I arrived early (around 9 am) on Sunday and by the time I was leaving (at 11:30 am) the trails were quite busy. I highly recommend arriving early. While Kenosha Pass is something to see in the fall; it has really got something for everyone year-round! In the summer months it boasts camping on either the East or West side of the pass. There is a $6 day use fee for camping. There's plenty of hiking trails in the area; including a portion of the Colorado Trail! For those OHV or mountain biker's out there; some of the trails allow you to tear up some dirt too! I'd imagine that during the winter months it also would offer some excellent terrain for snowshoeing as well. I plan on heading up to check that out this winter for sure! I will definitely be back to check out more of Kenosha Pass and all it has to offer!!

This is an amazing spot to go for Fall colors, specifically aspens! I was just so great to go walking through all the trees with the sunlight glistening off the leafs. It was pretty magical! I took several photos but I don't think those really do justice. Also, if you are into hiking you could take the Colorado Trail for about 10 miles where you come across different patches of aspens and where you get some great views. This area is especially great if you're into photography. I saw many people with tripods taking all sorts of photos. I had my SLR with me as well. This is definitely worth it if you're looking to spend an afternoon enjoying the fall colors, hiking, and/or taking photography!

I was here on October 3, 2017. It was gorgeous, and the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. Had a lightweight Patagonia jacket and a flannel shirt. It had snowed a little the day before, so there were some muddy areas, but overall definitely worth the trip. I went on a weekday specifically to avoid the crowds, which was perfect, as I ran into maybe 10 people total in the entire 3 hours I was there. Parking was easy and relatively empty, directly at the entrance to the trailhead. Not a large elevation gain, so a pleasant hike. Great for photos.

Beautiful trees this time of year. Pretty popular area, but there was enough parking along the road. Bathrooms are available as well. Great for pictures and walking. Dogs are also welcome.

Kenosha Pass most beautiful fall aspen colors in Colorado -10,000 elevation

Kenosha Pass is located southwest of Denver and just northeast of the town of Fairplay, Colorado at elevation 10,000 ft . Hiking Kenosha Pass, to the east of Hwy 285 on the Colorado Trail, enabled us to see the most beautiful fall colors that Colorado has to offer with the aspen. It's approximately a 3.5 mile hike one way. For the most part, it is not overly difficult. You will eventually reach a plateau area that looks over a beautiful basin. At the end of September, it was spectacular. Well worth the time and effort. Note: if during the fall color season, during the weekday because the weekends are busy on the roads and trails in the park. Hikers and bikers will be pleased! Our daughter had told us that this was a must trip when we came back to visit them for viewing beautiful aspen trees during fall colors. She was RIGHT. Kenosha pass is part of the Colorado Trail. Coming from Denver you can reach Kenosha Pass by driving Southwest on Highway 285 towards the high country. Best way is to get on C-470 and take the 285 South exit. You will know you have reached the pass because the sign is posted 10,000 elevation. Not only that, but there are signs and pull-over areas indicating you have arrived. Turn off to the left and it will take you to the area for bathrooms. You may want to take some tissue with you. The facilities were not the best or cleanest with all of the foot traffic at the time we were there.

    Breathtaking views!
