I hiked here the morning of Memorial Day. My advice for anyone hiking around this time of year in the mountains is to download a map in advance. Even for a super short trail, it's incredibly easy to steer off course when it's still snow packed. I nearly made a wrong turn at the very beginning! Once you get to the top, you get amazing panoramic views of the mountains. It's a wide open space at the top, and I think you're able to connect to the Pennsylvania Mountain trail if desired. I will say the trail was marked impeccably well with blue markers sitting high on the trees. It's very easy to get off track during this woodsy hike. When you arrive at the trailhead you'll find only a handful of parking spots. 1.2 mile loop 259 ft. elevation gain 35 minutes to complete (in summer, longer if snow packed) Contrary to the name, I didn't see many pikas. Assuming they'll be more present during the summer months. Nice little trail for all ages and difficulty levels. Great views!

Hi all! The…read moreAdventure Company was very professional from start to finish, and they were fun too. My family and I went rafting, and at that time, the Arkansas River was really high. There were some rapids that were very exciting, and the water was really cold, but it was funny for everyone else when I was getting soaked in the front. The water is COLD, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The rapids relaxed down in about 10 minutes, and it was a pretty smooth ride for the rest of journey. The total trip was about an hour and a half, which is a good time for younger kids. David was a great guide, and he was funny and entertaining, yet knowledgeable and passionate about many things adventure. He trained everyone in the raft the do-s and don't-s of rafting, and made sure everyone was prepared in case of emergency. He showed the techniques of how to maneuver the raft, and how to 'rescue' your buddy if they fell in. We had ages 7-57 in our group, and it was fun for everyone. If you are a beginner or have younger, more senior people in your group, I would suggest a level 1-2 experience. If you have a group of more confident, or medium-good physically fit people who like a bit more adventurous time, I would suggest a higher level of rapids. The rest of the staff in the office were very friendly, and the office and amenities were clean and organized. They had changing rooms, and clean guest bathrooms complete with showers if you so desire. They have free lockboxes for you to leave your keys or other valuables if you need. They offered picture packages, but allowed you to take whatever devices you wanted on the raft. They advise against it, and take no responsibility for your lost items, however, they did not prevent us from bringing them (we did not bring our devices). It was a little bit of a hike from Dillon, Frisco area. About 2 hours drive, but the scenery is amazing, and with good company, it makes an easy drive. You pass through some interesting towns on the way if you want to stop and get lunch or dinner! Overall, this was an awesome trip!

We were excited for our rafting trip with The Adventure Company, but unfortunately the way they…read morehandled our concerns afterward left us far more disappointed than the trip itself. Our original Numbers trip was canceled due to low water, which we completely understood. We were offered Browns Canyon instead, and we accepted. The problem wasn't the change in route or the water conditions--it was that we weren't told until we were literally boarding the bus that our group of six would be split into separate rafts. Had we known this in advance, we would have taken the full refund that was offered instead. We understand that safety comes first and that low water conditions require adjustments. At no point did we ask them to compromise safety or keep us together if it wasn't possible. Our frustration was with the complete lack of communication. According to our guide, the low water conditions had existed for days, yet we weren't informed until there was no realistic opportunity to change our plans after driving out. To make matters worse, my partner and I were paired with two guests who chose not to participate or engage at all, while the rest of our party had a completely different experience. Corey, our guide, was excellent and did everything he could, but the experience we paid for was fundamentally different from what we expected because of a last-minute decision that could have been communicated earlier. What was most disappointing was the company's response. Rather than acknowledging that the timing of the communication was the issue, they repeatedly insisted we had "inaccurate expectations" and argued against points we never made. We never claimed groups should never be split. We never blamed them for the drought. We never blamed them for the other guests. Our only complaint was that we were denied the opportunity to make an informed decision because the information wasn't shared until we were already boarding the bus. Instead of recognizing that distinction, they repeatedly reframed our complaint as if we simply didn't understand how rafting works or had unrealistic expectations. It felt dismissive and defensive rather than customer-focused. If you're booking with this company, understand that significant changes to your trip--including being separated from your group--may not be communicated until the last possible moment. If that's something that matters to you, be sure to ask specific questions beforehand because you may not have the opportunity to change your plans once you arrive. The rafting itself was fine, and Corey deserves credit for doing a great job. My low rating is based almost entirely on how our concerns were handled after the trip. A little transparency and a willingness to listen would have completely changed this experience.

We both have experience with this company from rafting the Upper Salt River in AZ. Unfortunately the water levels didn't cooperate but, the rafting company modified the itinerary to give us the best possible adventure possible. Day upper upper Browns Canyon which led to class I've and the use of duckies. Operation am not a fan but, half of our group loved them. We were then driven 1.5 hours away for our dinner and tent camping (3 miles from our put in). Ryan and Eric our guides cooked a great meal and catered to the group. We awakened to a mist and heavy fog, which we were served pancakes and sausages for a warm breakfast, and let's not forget hot coffee. We then departed at 8:30 for our trip down the Royal Gorge were we hit class in rapids, lots of class 3s, great geology, good company, lots of fun and a great experience. Ryan our lead guide and Eric did a great job for 2 days of providing us a great experience and memories. You have many choices but from a personal experience this is the best company to deal with. They give you an easy to understand safety briefing before you're on the water too, which we very much appreciated as beginners. At one point, they make a stop behind a giant rock where the current doesn't flow and let you get out and swim around, which in the blaring summer heat and sun is a very nice break! Of all the companies on that river, at the time of our trip they are the smallest, and they absolutely deserve more business to stay afloat (literally).
