Ken went to school with my nephew Joe. Hometown garage that strives for excellent customer service to keep locals happy. Moved in 2015 to Florida and wish he was here. My other nephew, Joe's brother is in NY and I told him to go see Ken! Miss this place! If you read this Ken, miss seeing you and appreciate all you did for me when I lived there. Neeeeever gonna do business here, sorry! A few months ago I came here to get some work done on my car; serpentine belt and a radiator flush. Got charged full-price but the car kept running hot, no explanation. Huh! Called the place back and found out they'd poured in fluid but never performed the flush they charged me for. I had to demand they provide the service I'd paid for, and I got nothing but flack. Fastforward a few months and I'm looking for a new car. I happen to notice a white Grand Am sitting by the road with dealer's chalk in the windshield and decide (against my better judgement) to take it for a spin. The engine runs loud, there's a very definable hesitation, and it's got pretty high mileage for a Pontiac. Nevertheless, the owner insists on showing me the title and trying to haggle a price. Lo and behold, I ask or the CarFax and there's a lien on the title to boot! The owner insists it's not an active lien, but he only has a release notice from a lien in 2001, and the car history shows a new lien in 2009. I would never do business there. They're pretty shady. read more

Im not usually one to review businesses negatively, especially not local small business, but I feel as though i need to. I was getting Dunkin donuts down the street from Ken's Auto Service in Ballston Spa and unfortunately my tire went flat while pulling out of Dunkin. Ken's by chance happened to be the first place I was able to pull into so i parked there, and went in to see if they had the correct size tire for my car. They did not, so I mentioned that i had a dummy tire and instead of asking me, the owner just said "well thats gonna be $35" for him to simply help me change the tire. I then said no thank you, i will just change it myself as i thought i had all of the tools needed. I even took his business card in case i needed them in the future. When i was taking the fire off, i realized i was unable to get the nuts loose so i called AAA, which i pay for monthly. The owner came out once he saw the AAA truck and lost his mind. He called me many things of which i will not repeat, all while flipping me off and telling us to "get the f*ck off of his property". The worst part about this is there was an elderly man waiting patiently for the AAA guy to assist him with putting air in his tires after he was done assisting me. The owner went over to the elderly man, and told him to "get the fu*k off of my property you fu*cking loser. I've never dealt with someone so angry and mad at life than this guy. This is no way to do business, I will never go back here and i recommend you do not as well. Thank you to the younger gentleman who came over and apologized for the little angry owner's actions. If you're buying gas at a local Sunoco station to get the Price Chopper discount, this is the station at which you should get it. Their gas is the lowest of the ones in the Saratoga area, according to Gas Buddy. Gas here, before the discount was 3 cents a gallon cheaper than the Sunoco on the north side of town, and TWENTY SIX cents cheaper than the Sunoco near I-87 Exit 15. read more

I was visiting the area from over 3.5 hours away and heard rattling under my Jeep. Concerned about continuing on my trip, I stopped in just before closing time. They were very busy but they still came out and checked quick for me. Turned out to be a very small fix and helped me to be on my way in under 5 mins without charging me a cent. Very honest and I'm so grateful for that. I have never left a Yelp review before but in my opinion a business like this needs to be recognized. So my car broke down and engine was blown. Had the car towed to Kens on the recomendation of my brother in law. Honestly I thought I was going to be in big trouble. But Ken worked with me and found an engine for a fair price and installed it right away. If you want to work with someone fair, honest and extremely blunt I strongly recommend Kens. I have been using him for all my cars ever since and would never go anywhere else. read more

If I could give a negative 5 star I would. He did work on my Chevy Equinox and told me that I needed to have an oil change every 500 miles for the next 3-4000 mikes to keep the check engine lite from coming on. I did that and it continued to come on. He then changed the sensor and it was fixed. I spent $300 on oil changes. Then I took my Land Rover in and he did $700 in labor and I bought the parts myself. The car did the exact thing it was doing before I spent the $1000. He started yelling at me that I bought a car that I could not afford. Fast forward to today when I called to make an appointment to have rear brakes for tomorrow and he asked me to bring it in tonight and leave it. I did that and he called me and told me that he is leaving the key in the truck and come pick it up and do not ever call or come by again. I picked it up and will NEVER, EVER go again or even get gas at this place. So much for keeping my business local!! FYI this is the 1st time that I have ever given a review on anything!!! read more

The owner is a very rude person. Don't try to use Advantage points here! About an hour ago I went for gas with $.60/gallon discount fro Price Chopper. Swiped the Advantedge card then my credit card. No discount. I didn't pump gas and went inside. Waited to speak to the person at the register. He said - "you're a big girl can't you figure it out?" I was floored. Yes, I am a large woman and over 50 years old so no matter what, the joke was not funny. After a second I told him I did not appreciate the joke. He told me I needed to relax that he was just trying to be funny. No apology, just more rude comments. He then took my Advantedge card, ran it through and said, you don't have any discount. I insisted I did and there was some sort of mistake and I would talk to Price Chopper. He said I was going to be embarrassed when they told me I don't have a discount. To Ken, the owner I say - You should be embarrassed and ashamed of your behavior. Price Chopper verified that I DO have $.60 discount and YOU should have called them to straighten it out. I will use my discount at another Sunoco. Learn some manners and learn how to deal with Advantedge issues. I already called Price Chopper and Sunoco corporate about this and I hope you learn from your mistake. I certainly did - you don't deserve a penny of my money. read more

Ken has lost me as a customer. For years I have been getting gas here with the Price Chopper Advantage card and recently stopped in to have the air pressure checked on my tires because the tire light came on. He came out of the office to ask "how can I help you". I asked him if he would check my tires and he held up his hands and said ABSOLUTELY NOT. He said he was tired of people looking for free service. I reminded him that I bought gas here all the time and he yelled at me saying he doesn't make any money on gas. His tirade continued after I told him I'd NEVER come back to give him any business. He laughed at me. I worked in the service industry for many years before retiring and have never ever been treated like that. I know that customer service is one of the most important features of a business that has competition around every corner. I wish that I could report him to his boss, but can't because he is the boss! Shame on you Ken Maynard. read more

I had been using Ken's Auto Service for a few years up until recently. His prices had seemed reasonable and the services appeared to be a good value overall. However, at no point in time was Ken, presumably the owner, a pleasant man to deal with. He was generally contentious and his bedside manner left much to be desired. Suffice it to say that the guy was always in a foul mood and quite obviously had If Yelp o concern for customer satisfaction or retention. I continued to go back out of convenience ce and simply as a result of not being aware of any other decent repair outfit in town. It appears, in my opinion, that Ken may have finally lost his grip on reality and his highly ill-tempered personality may have taken a sharp turn south. I have finally had enough of Ken and his poor attitude, forgetfulness (he never appeared to recognize me despite the fact that I had been in his shop probably once a month for years) and unprofessional behavior. I have seen him treat customers, including me, with disrespect for the last time. If you have to drive 150 miles out of your way to find another repair shop, do it.... You'll be glad you did. If Yelp would permit me to emphasize this review with the necessary profanity that Ken is deserving of, I would. read more

Honest people and great mechanics. I have been going there since 2000 and remain a loyal customer even after having moved 30 miles away. Ken has always taken great care of me and my family. So honest he actually refused to fix my van because the frame was corroded. He refused to take my money and advised that I get a new car and even offered to take the amount i would have spent on the repair off of one of the vehicles he had for sale. Any repair would include an invitation into the garage while the vehicle was on the lift to show the reason for the proposed repair. Would buy a used car from him sight unseen. I have never been there I'm from Schenectady but my folks live in Ballston. They always brought there gas from Ken my dad had a tough time because of his age pumping and going in to pay inside either Ken or one of his employees told my father when he came for gas just honk horn someone would come out so he wouldn't have to get out of his car.
