Words cannot express the experience my children have had at Kensington School. Two different kiddos with two totally different personalities, both thrived in the best possible way. Curriculum is top notch, having an education background as a parent I was definitely more critical on what was being taught to my children. They exceeded my expectations from the Jolly Phonics, Handwriting without Tears, to the hands on science experiments. I can continue on with so many praises, from the administration being open and supportive, the teachers are friendly and welcoming, to the variety of snacks and lunch options (which was huge in our household by introducing a variety and them willing to try new things since they were exposed at school). The environment is warm, makes you comfortable and feel like your home away from home. If you are even considering putting your little ones Kensington School is the way to go :-) read more

Any review that is negative is from a past administration team. We've had a great experience the last year & I'm a tough critical. I'm blown away at how immerse and diverse the curriculum is here. The outdoor play area is very nice & secure, they grow a garden in the summer & harvest in the fall. The preschool & pre-k kids perform in a musical in Fall/Spring, which is honestly nothing like you'll find at any daycare. They have music class with teacher who plays piano, have appropriate & seasonal activities & an organic lunch & snack catered menu. The building is secure & the staff is responsive. They assess your child & send progress reports each "school year" Spring/Fall. Very hygiene conscious, which was a huge thing for me, and will communicate with parents. read more

They don't post their policies for review and the ones the do post contradict others. They also steal huge deposits from families so be aware what you sign your child up for. They may have once been a great establishment but that is no longer the case. They are not doing the same things they used to as far as enriching your children but they are still taking the same if not more tuition fees for non service. read more

After moving to the area recently, we didn't think we would find a daycare we loved as much as our previous daycare. We were wrong!! Kensington School of La Grange exceeded our expectations from the start and continues to do so. The Director is kind, patient, empathetic, and provides significant support to families and their children. The teachers are fabulous and provide an inviting and comfortable atmosphere to learn and grow. All staff greet us each day with positivity. Both of my sons attend this school and we are extremely thankful for their hard work and patience with anything from potty training and difficult drop offs to helping us celebrate their birthdays with their classmates! Kensington has become so much more than school for my family, for us, it is a home away from home. My son began at the Naperville location at 9 weeks. Since then, he has grown and developed so much. He is a thriving two year old boy now! All of his teachers have been so kind, warm and nurturing.There is even a nurse on staff for when the little ones need a little extra attention. My family has had a great experience at Kensington. After researching multiple preschools in the area, Kensington had the best mix of tuition affordability, rich curriculum, caring staff and physical activity (and organic snacks/lunch!). It has far exceeded our expectations and our five-year-old son is happy and fulfilled after each school day. Now that it's summer, Kensington camp keeps him plenty busy with water days, field trips, arts & crafts and TONS of outdoor play. I pick him up and he's sweaty, worn out and has a big smile on his face as he rattles off all the fun he had that day. I have heard about dissatisfied parents in past years, but I believe the challenges have been effectively tackled by the new director (no easy feat). She's engaging with the kids and we've had nothing but a great communication experience with every member of the Kensington staff. read more

I am happy when my kid is happy and always exited to go to Kensington. I think bad reviews was due to a previous director who did not know how to manage the school. Now this particular location has wonderful director Ms. Sherman and school runs smooth. Everything is super organised, informative and planned. You get e-mails with monthly activity plans, menus, daily log. Teachers are also great and deserve kind words! Kids learn letters, numbers, enjoy arts and regular play. Everyday my daughter comes back happy and always has something interesting to tell me. read more

We've had multiple children through the program. The staff is wonderful, attentive, and kind. The curriculum is engaging and thoughtful.

I cannot recommend the LG Kensington location highly enough. Both of our children have been through the school over the past four years, and we are completely satisfied. The directors are competent, thorough and responsive. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. In all these years we've never been disappointed with any of the lead teachers or aides. I've watched them handle difficult situations with humor and patience; I've never heard a cross word. The school is pricey, but it's worth every penny. My older son left kindergarten at Kensington reading almost two grade levels ahead, and my younger son was reading as a young 4 yo. As a reading specialist and English teacher, I can attest to the quality curriculum they are implementing. You'll get phonics instruction, project-based learning and specials such as Spanish, music, art, etc. You will get your money's worth. I've read the other reviews and truly feel as if those must've been written forever ago; they do not at all represent our current experience. Considering the financial investment we're making in their education, we have very high expectations, and Kensington has met or exceeded them all. read more

We've had good experiences overall with our 2 children at the Kensington in LaGrange, *until our 3-year-old came home and said a strange political comment completely out of nowhere. Our child told us her teacher made the same derogatory remark (regarding the Presidential Administration, specifically the current POTUS) and said she was just repeating what her teacher had told the class. We brought the issue to the Director's attention. The Director denied it occurred without saying they'd even speak to the teacher about it. The Director did not assure us in any way that they would investigate or discuss it with the teacher. Nothing. Simply told us we were mistaken, because their policy is not to discuss politics. Kensington took no responsibility whatsoever - a complete disregard of accountability. Please speak to your children and ask them what they learned today. I've heard of high school teachers or professors giving their political opinions to students, but to 3-year-olds.. in preschool? My wife and I were and are extremely upset and disappointed in how Kensington handled this. We believe this issue is solely with 1 teacher at that location. read more

I should have known better than to even visit, as I used to work at St. Francis down the street, and the after-school care at Kensington left a bad taste in my mouth- I had after-school supervision (making sure every child was picked up), and the kids being picked up by the Kensington teacher were, without exception, the last kids picked up every day (at least ten minutes late, sometimes more). Pretty lax. When I visited with my two year-old, we were able to walk right on in, which made me anxious right off the bat. The main door that is supposedly "secure" is downstairs, away from anyone who works there, without anyone around to monitor it. What is that about? I showed up around 5 pm and another parent held the door for me. This should not even be an option for a parent to be able to do- it's not the parents' jobs to monitor the security of the school. Isn't securing the door the number one thing a daycare should be concerned with?? I have never been to or even heard of a center where security is so poor. We walked upstairs and there were kids and teachers all over the place- not one person bothered to approach me. I went back downstairs to ring the bell for the office so I could finally meet with someone. The person I met with was visibly annoyed when we were shown the classroom (and I mean we peeked in the door and were not invited to go further), and my daughter wanted to go in a room where other kids were and play with the toys. That's why I asked if I could bring her- so I could see if she even liked it. Really nice. Our current daycare provider walked right on in as well to pick up a child. She was able to wander through the whole school and out to the playground looking for him, where teachers were socializing and didn't even notice when she grabbed the kid. She had to go tell them she was taking a child home who was not her own. Ridiculous and inexcusable, even to happen "once" (though it seems like it is a common occurrence) time. read more

The Kensington School in LaGrange is truly outstanding. The teachers genuinely care about their students. I am somewhat shocked by the prior reviews and all I can say is that our own experience with the school has been absolutely stellar. Our daughter used to be in another school in Westmont, and this Kensington branch (there are several) is light years ahead of it. The director of the school is absolutely outstanding and has always been incredibly responsive to us. Our daughter's teacher is the best teacher our daughter has ever had. The academic curriculum is outstanding and their attention to education is really quite good and we can clearly see our daughter progress over the year that she has been there. The bottom line is that they genuinely CARE about their kids! And, I think that is really what makes all the difference in the world. Thank you to the entire Kensington team!!! read more

Loved Lagrange Highlands used them years ago until recently I was the only parent not notified about registration. Once I called to register was told sorry the class was full and there is a waiting list, but they would be more then happy to place her in another school or a late class. I explained I am a full time working mother that works afternoons can they drive my child home to the sitter who is waiting for my other daughter to come home from school. So they want me to drive further to one of their other locations for their screw up by not including me in on registration. I guess my money and all my free items for there parties was good for so long and they did not want me to come back . What a business! So much for being a good returning customer. read more

I currently have my 3 1/2 and 2 year old daughters attending Kensington in La Grange. Teachers are exceptional, you get photos and videos throughout the day of your child(ren)'s activities, and at the end of the day, get a full report electronically of food consumed, naps, potty times and what the child worked on. This helps with communication between my children and I at the end of the day, as I already know what to talk to them about during the school day. Everyone knows my children by name. I feel very safe leaving them there. The school always smells clean and sanitized! The director is also extremely responsive and keeps things well organized. I was considering giving 4 stars, is they recently changed their full day start time from 6:30am to 7:00am, which will hurt me in the fall and trying to get to my job on time. I do not recommend. Dirty place. They advertise about organic meals. Children get burgers for lunch-really, is that organic food these days . . . I guess it depends on your definition of organic meal. Kids were watching cartoons. I would rather have my children listen to the stories read by a teacher instead. read more
