I ve been going to this barber shop every other 2 or 3 weeks for months.I always go to Ricky cuz he does a great job. I don't even need to explain him what I want, he knows what to do. He deserves more than 5 stars! Finally I found my hairstylist after trying a lot of places. However I walked in today, I asked for Ricky, the lady who cut my hair said he is sick. If it wasn't a special occasion(my birthday), I wouldn't take a risk and wait for Ricky. I asked for half fade, specifically not all the way to top, and blend the rest. She did the half fade first, my back was looking at the mirror I couldn't see, I thought that she was blending the rest but booomm number 2 all the way to the top. I didn't want her to touch the rest and mess up more . I thanked her and paid. While I was leaving I asked for Ricky s number to the lady ( I assume she is the owner) she said they r not allowed to share employee s number which is totally right and understandable. I wanted to leave my number for him to contact me. she asked me "why?". I said I ll text him Cuz I heard that he is sick. She said " No, he is fine". She didn't let me to leave my number. That was so rude! You wanna know why I wanna contact him, lady ? I didn't wanna take another risk for shitty haircut for the next time. I didn't say it cuz I didn't want to embarrass the other lady who cut my hair in the shop.. Try to be nice to people.I m not going back again because of her rudeness. But I highly recommend Ricky. I just got a haircut from here. I told the barber I wanted a fade with a 4 guard to a 2 guard, how high up my head I wanted it, and an inch off the top. My barber did not do any of that. There are parts of the side of my head he didn't even cut. He also took off closer to three inches off the top of my hair and cut it unevenly, which is not what I asked for. To my barber, if you don't know how to cut a fade, just say that. It's going to take months to regrow my hair just to a point where I can start getting it cut the way I want it again. If you as a customer want something other than a buzz cut, I would not recommend going to either locations of this business. read more

I don't really find myself coming to this area much for haircuts but when I do, it's usually here. I usually don't ask for a complete style change, but I've gotten a bunch of my touch-ups done by different barbers here & they've all pretty much gotten close to what I wanted. The cuts are pretty consistent here, but their fade game could use a little work. That being said, the barbers here are meticulous but I just wish they would spend more time getting a crisper high, low, or bald fade. At least they use a straight razor blade with hot foam to shave the back of the neck when they're done. It's probably my favorite part of the whole experience. It's a small touch that most barbers in the area seem to neglect, but I feel like that's what makes the haircut complete! read more

So bad I had to shave my head... Seriously! I do a side swept undercut that fades to the natural curve of my head and blended in the back. Don't worry if you don't understand what that means, any barber worth their salt should. That's exactly what I said to this lady, I even went so far as to say, "just follow the distinct lines that are already there." She shaved WAY too far up on both sides and the back. Instead of the clean cut professional look I aim for with my haircuts I left there with a clump of hair, lopsided, on the top of my head, that looked stupid regardless of what I tried to do with it. Sorry to prove Godwin's law here but she left me looking like Adolf Hitler; the short sides, the slicked over part, that's all I could do. When I walked out of Kentlands Main Street Barber I was a tiny mustache away from angering the area's Jewish population. The problem with her shaving way too much and going way too high with it is that now it's gone... I can't blend it back, I can't just say that it's good enough for a couple of weeks til it grows back, ITS GONE. The stupid lines she left are just there, the only way to fix it was to take my 7" long top and shave it down to nothing and restyle as it's growing back. It's July right now and my hair won't be back to the way I like it until next year. Literally fighting back tears right now because my hair was my only feature I was proud of. read more

I'm getting oddly specific with how I like my hair trimmed these days even though the hairline up top is now more of a memory and I can be frustratingly vague with instructions. You're in good hands with Ricky. He went with five different clippers, razors, instruments with a side mirror check-in to appease my questions of how things were looking in the back. It was a combo shape-up and beard trim and I'd really like to say that I walked out to people wondering where this Latino Jason Statham came from. Very unlikely. But I did feel handsome and my mother, who I was visiting, said "wow." Wow is gold when you're visiting mom and you just got a cut. Kudos to Ricky and the staff at Main Street. Asked to fix my attempt at a bob/short haircut that I tried doing at home but failed. The hair stylist was nice and able to perfect it into a round bob shape, done in layers, so now I'm no longer self-conscious if my haircut! Although it lost its bob shape after I washed it, it still looked like a messy short hairstyle (which was a style I also wanted, and anyway my hair was going to revert back to its natural shape) which still looked good and didn't feel uncomfortable because my hair was done well.
