Yesterday, I started a project with zero planning and preparation (isn't that how it goes?) and midway through, I realized I needed to run to Ace for silicone sealant and to figure out how to modify my plumbing to convert a double-basin, double drain to a single. I was in and out in no time with the right stuff and had the sink installed and water flowing again in no time. I love this place specifically for the friendly faces who are always willing to help and actually know stuff. The Ace Rewards program and app are also great. When I'm not flying by the seat of my pants on DIY projects, I earn airline miles through the AA Shopping site when I order ahead online for pickup. Being in the mountains, things can get pricey, but I appreciate the fairly reasonable prices on the necessities here.

The customer service is usually good. I have encountered employees here before who were less than stellar but for the most part, they greet you at the door and are always willing to help you. The store has gotten better at organizing their displays over the years but finding what you need can still be troublesome at times. As stated above, the employees are always on hand to help you out. I do wish they would implement contactless payment (Apple Pay). Not necessarily because of covid but because it's how I prefer to pay these days and they are one of the final hold outs in town integrating this.

Well knowing that there is a convenient, well stocked hardware store right here in town is wonderful. Our local True Value is huge and carries the most amazing variety of products for all types of home improvement. It is really like having a mini Lowe's right here in town but with friendly people who actually know where things are and how to use them. Not only do they carry the usual nuts and bolts and nails and tools, but they also carry arts and craft supplies. They also have a nice selection of seasonal items and decorative items. The store is open and well laid out. Most things seem to be shelved in logical groupings and if you can't find something, staff always know where to look. They are open seven days a week. Prices are higher than the big box stores, but the convenience of not having to drive for an hour makes it a great alternative.

Unfortunately, our recent experiences have been frustrating enough to make us reconsider. On 11/02, we made a purchase and noticed afterward that we were overcharged. After reviewing the receipt, we had to go back and were refunded nearly $26 from a $72 total. Mistakes happen, but we appreciated the refund being processed correctly. However, things got worse when we saw a charge from the store on our credit card dated 11/28--even though neither of us had visited the store that day. We tried repeatedly to get in touch with someone who could explain the charge, but every time we called, the employee who answered said the person who could help wasn't in and to call back the next day. This went on for several days with no progress. Eventually, my husband went into the store, hoping for some answers. Unfortunately, he was again told that no one was available to help. There was no effort to take down our information, no concern shown, no follow-up, and no offer to pass along the issue to a manager. After getting nowhere with the store, we ended up disputing the charge with our bank. We're disappointed by how this was handled. If you shop here, definitely double-check your receipts and monitor your credit card for any unexplained charges. The convenience of a local store only goes so far when the customer service doesn't measure up.

The price tag was $1.59, over $1 more than at Home Depot or anywhere else, really. When I went to check out, it rang up as $9.99! I said, "That's an insane price; the tag said it's $1.59." This Flock of Seagulls ex-band member told me, "That's the price!" A simple price check would have resolved this without issue, but that was not in the cards, apparently. And anyone who knows building supplies would have known how insane that price was. Hire people who know hardware and building supplies. I had to track down a manager myself to get this resolved, which was embarrassing show of their customer service. For 10 months I've been paying their "mountain prices" for the convenience of them being local--no more. I'd rather take a 1.5-hour round trip than deal with rude service and inflated prices. TLDR; Go elsewhere.

There's been quite a few times that they don't have specific things that I need, and all the other hand, sometimes they have what other big box stores don't. So it's kind of a gamble. Generally the things they don't have, are for one of our houses that is super old. I've been an ace rewards member for probably close to 20 years. I'm constantly getting discounts via the app and coupons sent through the mail, and I've also been able to compound all of my rewards points, with other special offers. One time I came in here and I bought $40 worth of stuff, and with all the discounts, and knocked it down to just under 13 bucks!
