I love catfish and this place has the goods. So fresh, with a crunchy cornmeal coating. Got cole slaw and yams for sides. I am so glad I found this little place! I am working here for a couple of months and just wanted some good home cooking. The first time I ordered, I got the barbecue ribs and they just fell off the bone! I really liked the sauce too. The sweet potatoes were just like my granny used to make and the green beans were so good! Wow...must have been some changes with the food from the reviews. My husband and I walked into this converted pool hall that appeared to be a mess. The ambiance was not good. There were tables with stiff mismatched table cloths. So many different types of chairs. There was a blurry big screen tv in the back with a football game playing. Off to the side in the dining room was a pack and play and other baby items. The table we sat at I had to swap out a chair as the chairs felt old and wobbly. When you come to the building it's complicated with the parking. Too many people blocked the tiny sidewalk/walkway to go to my car. I had to walk on the road to get in my car which was right on the corner of their parking lot. Ok....the place had me a bit uneasy but I gave it a chance. You have to order from a dry erase board and the woman asked if we wanted Pepsi as that was all she had to drink...,was taken aback but we said ok. I hoped it was from a can or bottle. I ordered the so called bbq chicken with "yams" and green beans. I've never seen yams floating in grease or old syrup b4. They tasted funny. The green beans were from a can which I expected but they had a bad aftertaste I stopped eating them. The spice rub on the chicken did nothing for the dish. The chicken was so dry to me it felt like it was not made that day but reheated...ugh. When you walk in and order you find a table...even though it was the middle of the afternoon we were the only diners there. Some people got to go orders. A little girl came out from the back with 2 cans of Pepsi. Everything served in to go type boxes. There was this so called hot water cornbread....I ate that and drank my Pepsi but didn't eat my meal...I should have sent it back but I was scared to. My husband got the catfish, potatoes salad and turn up greens and he liked his. I took mine home for him...I'm not finishing it. We were trying to find someplace new for our anniversary sadly we won't be coming back. Between our meals we spent $28. Today was my first time ordering food from Keondra's Retaurant. I ordered the chicken and dressing and potato salad and fries. They included cornbread with the meal as well. Everything was perfect and the potato salad was T. I will be ordering from Keondra's on a regular basis from now on. The cook had a really horrible attitude and glared at my husband and I. Didn't even speak to us and her food tasted like shit! Her attitude was put into the food! That's not you do oxtails sis, most nastiest oxtails I've ever had in my life and then had the nerve to charge $18.00. NO MA'AM! Found this little gem hidden off of College street. Just to be a pool hall I think. Don't let the location or look of the place deter you........the food here was amazing!!!!! I devoured the fried catfish and macaroni and cheese... It was so creamy. Roy had ribs that fell right off the bones. His yams very yummy. I just had to try them.... I should have gotten a large container of mac and cheese to go but alas I missed the chance...I recommend this place to anyone wanting some delicious soul food and I will absolutely eat at this place when I come back to Clarksville. Looking for a new soul food spot I want to make my "regular"..decided to try Keondra's! I ordered the catfish plate with green beans, and fries. Catfish was really good, as said by other reviews. However, my sides weren't top notch. My green beans didn't seem fresh, and my fries were over cooked. If you plan on using a card, it's a $2 up-charge. I took the two stars off because I only enjoyed the fish, so I spent $14 just to enjoy the main entree. It has an "at home" environment from the kitchen to the dining area. She has potential to have a great establishment if some of those details are cleaned up. read more

I would not return. The atmosphere is not becoming of a restaurant it is more of a setting of a pool hall, closed down club and unlicensed daycare. I ordered greens, dressing, Mac and cheese, yams, potato salad, white beans and rice, catfish and pork chops. The catfish and porkchops was fantastic. The dressing was horrible. I can not describe it. The greens taste like water without any seasoning, the yams was not sweet and too much nutmeg, the Mac and cheese was from a box, my husband said the white beans was good, the potato salad was just ok. While our trip to Clarksville was pretty devastating in other ways, Keondra's was a bright spot that we will not soon forget. with zero options for soul food in our town beyond what we make in our kitchen at home, it was great to have such delicious down home food during our trip. I love Keondra's! I usually go to Clarksville once or twice a year, and I always make it a point to stop by Keondra's as often as I can. I have had the catfish and the ribs, and many of the sides (greens, mac & cheese, green beans, potato salad, etc) and deserts, and I have never been disappointed. Meals usually come with cornbread (it's something like johnny cake, and if you're not from Tennessee, you might be expecting something different, but it's delicious). The setting is basic; this is not where you go for a fine dining experience...but if you want real down-home soul food, you will not be disappointed. I often find myself craving Keondra's delicious ribs, and I'm always happy to be going back. read more

Wasn't what I thought it would be, my expectations wasn't in line with what I think when I think "satisfying soul food or packing a punch." It was far removed from southern cooking as the potato salad was miss in the department of what I think of when it comes to potato salad(potatoes were mashed not cubed and the look wasn't close to what I've ever seen). When I think green beans from local family recipes I think pieces of meat such as bacon or ham hidden away in a flavorful juice and I got plain without a spec of salt. Someone said it best I guess when they said soul food must be different here. Before I read the comments my friends said the food tasted reheated and after reading the comments I guess that confirmed the fact that the chicken tasted stored. We just didn't get what we thought we paid for, like a Memphis spot or an Atlanta hole in the wall. I would pay thousands to eat good food, but price becomes more of a factor when you're paying "I can't wait to have that again" prices for an abnormal or uncommon definition of soul food. It's a no for me in the future, but things could change for the better for the sake of having local soul food I hope. read more
