The question for you, if you are planning to hire them, is: what is the norm for this company? First, their price for a move from Washington, DC to Netherlands was very high. I could not find a lower one, and went with it. My neighbor then found another company that did the same move (to Barcelona, which is further) for 6k less, and did not have all the problems I had. So, don't be me and get your quotes!! On the day of the move, movers came on time and worked well. The move was supposed to be completed in two days, but at 9AM on the following, I got a text message from the mover informing me that they would arrive at 11AM. They showed up at 1PM, and the foreman was in an evident state of anxiety and distress, telling me there was no way they could finish that day. I called the agent of ILM, who was surprised to learn about the lateness. The foreman then got really angry at me and told me that I should not have called the company, and that was only going to make things worse. It sounded like a threat to me. He said that someone had sent him somewhere else at 6AM despite the fact that he was scheduled to be at our house. That a co-worker had COVID. That he did not know there was a piano, though it was clearly marked in the packing list. He and the others started literally throwing stuff in boxes without any evident care. I repeated clearly to the foreman what I had told the agent already. We had a set of plates and trays made by my wife's grandmother, who is now deceased, that mattered to us more than anything else in the world. She was a renowned artist who even came to Washington for an exhibition. My wife and I told him many times that he should pack things carefully, but he was extremely nervous and rude. I could see that he was packing things in a very unsafe way, and called the agent to plead with the company to give them more time to do things well. But the foreman got even more stressed and aggressive when he got a second call from the company. They worked until 8pm, which means 14 hours straight between the two jobs, but could not finish. They had to come back a third day, which caused a big problem to me as I had a tenant scheduled to move in and needed to clean the house. They again packed furiously and with no regard, because they were again double-booked and probably exhausted. In their hurry they left behind a ton of things and the day after the agent agreed to send the workers to pick them up at the temporary address where I had moved. The foreman went to the old address and became hysterical, accusing my wife to send him to the wrong address out of spite and telling her she had to take the boxes herself to him. Once again, the agent intervened and 2 hours later an angry foreman showed up to pick up the box. The container was 3 weeks late, which I am ready to give them a pass on, given the chaos the shipping world is in. But they only informed me five days before delivery of this delay, which again caused a lot of inconvenience. At delivery, we found out the extent of the horror. The company here in NL, Transpack, was the opposite of ILM. They sent six guys, hard workers and in a good mood and willing to help. When they opened the boxes with plates, they called me and told me to take a picture, warning me that a lot would be broken inside. They said they have NEVER seen anything like that. In fact, 70% of the collection of our beloved plates was shattered. Entirely shattered. Dining table was dented, as if something had fallen on it. They placed a sticker on our leather bed with my name on it, ruining the leather. The screws of several pieces of furniture were lost and I had to go buy new ones. And more. I called the agent, who was mortified. He said this never happens to them, management is very concerned, and they will do everything to rectify. He said to send him, not to the insurance company, the claim, so they could amend things themselves. Two weeks passed, and then a low-level employee wrote to me that they have forwarded my claim to the insurance, but that only a small portion of the damages will likely be paid. I did not expect any better. I may be the outlier here, but if I were you I would look elsewhere. In my experience, this company overcharges, double-books their employees forcing them to work extremely long hours and has no safety standards for the way they pack things.

Don Lee and Buck Knoll are great people who worked closely with us and checking in often to make sure things were moving forward. We had a specific budget and Buck helped us get all our stuff up to WA safely as well as in our price range! Both crews in each state were nice and so fun to work with. Unfortunately we didn't get names of our loading crew in CA; however, Buck and his wife Kimberly personally delivered our furniture to WA, along with an amazing crew of Kyler, Todd and Pat. I called another highly rated moving company on Yelp and they wouldn't do more than give me an estimate by phone! To top it off, the "other" firm told me that their phone quote might vary by 30%!!! A1's packers took better care of packing our items than we did! Three guys packed up our entire 3 bedroom house in less than 8 hours --- and we have a lot of crap! And the amazing thing - nothing -- I mean NOTHING arrived to our new home damaged! On moving day, Mark and his crew showed up right on time and ready to go. Our move took a little longer than I expected (quoted 8-9 hours and it took 10) but I'm sure that had to do with the 100 degree plus weather on moving day! They worked their bu**s off!!!! We found these movers on Yelp and we are SO glad we went with them. They were very professional and moved all of my Grandparent's belongings in a timely fashion and were very careful. There were no scratches on any of our furniture and they even wrapped our valuables in bubble wrap and moved them in special crates. They were so nice and trustworthy with all of our valuables. I basically just called in and was able to get a quote, and they even gave a free in-home estimate. Considering all the stuff that I had, and the distance to my new destination, it was quite affordable. I like how they have reasonable pricing for quality service. The movers were timely, professional, and handled all my items with care. I've heard some scary stories with other companies where they just throw your things around, but that was not the case here. I had some fragile items that I was worried about, but they have all the equipment and storage items/bins that you would need to safely transfer them. I'm glad that I've finished relocating, and that Kerb Movers helped me in the process. It probably would have been so much more hectic if I tried moving all my things myself. My experience with Charles and his movers was not a positive one. I was moving from a 2 bedroom…read moreapartment to a new apartment 10 miles away. On the morning of the move, 3 movers showed up at around 8am. Initially things started out very well. The movers quickly moved all of our boxes from the 2 bedroom apartment to the ground floor. Once finished with the boxes, one of the movers continued to help me move non-boxed items (shelves, chairs, etc.) out of the apartment while the other two were out by the truck (parked roughly 100 feet away). After a while I went to see what the other two were up to, and one mover was inside the truck stacking boxes, while the other stood there and told him how to arrange/stack the boxes - incredibly inefficient way of doing things. Later on, one of the movers spent ~20 minutes going back and forth between the apartment and truck trying to find the right tools to take apart a bed frame. I then realized what was going on and told him it did not need tools to disassemble, and the bed frame can simply be pulled apart. The movers did not have any wardrobe boxes, so I had to come back to the old apartment later to load all of the clothes that remained on hangars into my car. Driving counts as double-time. I told the movers to follow me (I'd go slow), because the roads can be confusing where we are going, and I know the best route to the new apartment. As we are about to arrive, they deliberately change lanes out of the lane I am in, and take a turn in the opposite direction of the apartment. I arrived to the new apartment in 20 minutes, they arrived there in 40, so we were charged for 80 minutes worth for their commute. I asked what happened with driving, considering I was right in front of them, and I received an answer that didn't make any sense - they were simply wasting time. After the move was completed and the movers left, I finally got the chance to take a look at the damage: Rolling shelf dropped and 2 wheels broken off (this was the only thing damaged that was brought to my attention by the movers) Scratched dresser Ripped mattress Broken bookshelf 2 dents in walls of new apartment from move in Cost: over $600 to move our 2 bedroom apartment. Everything was already in boxes prior to the move.

These people advertise at my university and with them; I was told nothing but great things with them. They could work within my budget and everything. I called and right away they asked, how much could I spend. I told them my limit and they had the price right at my limit. They also charged my roommate the same amount where she got 2 less boxes than me. She called back and the man was rude to her; telling her she was getting a deal. But if I can get 5 boxes for the same price for 3, I am getting he better deal: not her. I don't like the whole open 6 hours time for pick up and drop off. In the beginning it was great, they came very early. But when it was drop off, I couldn't do anything in my day because I had a six hour window of when they came. They came 5 minutes before that window closed. When I called to get an idea where they were, they never check in with the guy; so he never know where they were. So I couldn't plan anything. I contacted them 2 weeks in advance and contacting them was impossible. It's a 2 week notice or you get charged 100$. I didn't want that, so I was on time with my email. But I had to contact them with two emails and a phone call before I got a hold of anyone. Plus, he didn't get my information right; was going to deliver a day before I got onto campus and wonder why I asked for that. Plus, I wrote a review here and they personally called me and told me that I should take down my bad review on them; that it could hurt their business. I am sorry, but that is what criticism is. You take it and make your company better but instead I got my stuff delivered last; where you should have tried and made a better impression and delivered it first or I wouldn't have written this back. I would advise not to use this company.
