Most of the staff is fantastic. Dr Hall is quite the opposite from any Dr you would hope to ever have the misfortune to Meet, however. From misdiagnosis to the least empathy and compassion in medicine, he is a treat, and discard type and has the demeanor of a angry Rottweiler. His arrogance is nauseating and he makes it clear who he serves. Definately NOT the Lord Jesus. read more

I recently was in the hospital 3 times one for an allergic reaction the second was because I was throwing up and the third chest pain... they didn't write down what they gave me for the allergic reaction. I saw Peter Newell the first time. They are horrible when they say they will. They didn't treat me right for throwing up... they told me it was a stomach bug... which it's not... I saw Paul Giem the second and third time. They gave me something that isn't even available in the US!!! They told me how I felt is normal... They shouldn't even be open!!!! Horrible nurses and staff they don't deserve to be open. I would rather see my primary than sit in the ER for hours. My stomach is so upset after what they gave me. read more

I lII've this hospital and staff! The emergency Dept. was professional and the Drs. there were unbelievable in treating what I thought was a stroke. They meet me in the parking lot with a wheel chair rush me in started to preparing me immediately for treatment. Thank you for your expert nursing care and and having my back and the Doctors! I have to go to outpatient often for blood tests. I have found Rebecca to be courteous, knowledgeable, efficient, and respectful. She is a jewel. The hospital is lucky to have her handling outpatient services. read more

My husband took my elderly, alcoholic, mother to the emergency room and they said they'd call. They haven't called, it's 3 days later and will not answer the phone number listed. It's Covid and you can't get in, the next excuse will be hippa! She may not even be there anymore. We don't know. Thanks Covid and all the rules, where's my mother? read more

My father had a massive widow maker heart attack. 100% blockage in the main artery in his heart. When he got to the hospital he coded twice and they brought him back both times. I am so thankful for the ER Nurses and Doctors that saved his life. read more

Horrible customer service. Rebecca is VERY rude. There is no reason ANYONE especially ones in a hospital they have no idea what we could be going through so to be talked down on like I'm 5 years old is really uncalled for. I also heard her on the phone with someone and she was yelling at her through the phone so loud that I couldn't hear what the person I was on the phone with was saying. HORRIBLE HOSPITAL THEY TREAT YOU LIKE YOU'RE NOT A PERSON WITH FEELINGS, THEY DON'T CARE HOW YOU FEEL. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ESPECIALLY IF YOU LOVE WHOEVER IS SICK. They lose paperwork they don't understand that the issues she's having is NOT my fault. I'm here for a work related injury and I DO NOT deserve to be spoken to this way. read more

I've had to use the emergency room three times and have been very happy with the skilled service I received every time.

WORST HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. I have a chronic illness that will flare up on me out of nowhere and I need to seek out an ER immediately. well, this weekend I was camping nearby for my birthday and my condition flared up. a friend drove me to the nearest facility, which is here at the Kern Valley Health District. immediately I am looked down on with attitude. I was asked the same exact questions from 2 nurses admitting me while I'm in intense internal pain and can barely talk or move. once in a bed, the male nurse proceeded to fumble with the IV needle and poked my hand and said "oops". I was in disbelief. once I went through the usual tests... bloodwork, urine, and CT scan, they admit me because I have an intestinal blockage. I am being taken care of by a new set of nurses that one was friendly, but the other was bitter. my first meal was all dairy, which with my intestinal disease, is not something to be eaten, especially during a flare. towards the end of the day, I asked to be discharged since I was feeling better. after being discharged, I met with my friends for dinner, me only drinking coconut water, and within an hour into dinner I'm feeling my symptoms coming back. I told my friend I needed to go back to the hospital. he drove me down and I went into the ER and explained that I shouldn't have been discharged that early and that my symptoms were back. I immediately felt they didn't believe me. I asked for the same identical treatment as the night before, and after waiting longer than the night before, they gave me fluids and meds. I was still in a lot of pain and 3 hours later asked for more pain killers and he said I was calm and my vitals were fine and they were discharging me. at 4AM. while I'm in pain. and I have no ride because all my friends are at the campsite in the mountains with no cell service. no taxis in this town. not walking distance to anything. I told them they didn't even test me correctly. for the CT scan, you need to drink a barium drink so your intestines show up in the X-ray. also, the doctor tonight never listened to my abdomen. also, the bloodwork would come back abnormal. keep in mind, all the other ER patients were clearly drug addicts and these doctors and nurses assumed I was one also. but my record clearly shows a history of surgery and hospital visits. and when I'm having a flare, it's the most intense pain I've ever had. more pain than broken ribs. I ended up sitting/sleeping on a chair in the halway from 4AM-12noon while nurses walked by. never asking questions while I was clearly in pain. NEVER EVER GO HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. go to Bakersfield or another city. these people do not know what they're doing. read more

Took my husband here for an injury we had on the river. Let's say this place is the most disgusting hospital I ever saw. Dirty medicines cups, IV/syringe caps all over the floor, dried blood on the cabinets plus the sheets in the gurney looked like it was never changed since the last patient. The X-ray tech went to help my husband up from the table and the bed moved and he hit his bad foot and never acknowledged it and made some rude comment. The nurse who withdraw his blood dis not wear any gloves plus he had no vile to put his blood in and just carried the blood in the syringe to the labs. The doctor never wore gloves either. I could probably keep going but yikes I think I need to call the health dept. read more

Currently here with a family friend and this place is ridiculous. At first I was impressed with how fast we were able to get him into the ER. Now I'm just sorta pissed. The nurses are somewhat bitter while the Doctor is just straight up rude. Maybe if they were a bit nicer I wouldn't have to also be weirded out by how filthy it is in here. Looks like it was built in the 70s and hasn't been updated or cleaned since. There are drawers with medical supplies left open and trash on the floor. This just doesn't seem like a sanitary environment to treat patients in. The condition of the Emergency room and attitude of the staff aside, this building is a 10/10. Now if they could just make a 21st century hospital out of it. read more

Seriously this is a hospital? This place is a joke! Prisoners get taken better care of then the patients in here. My mom came in at 5:50pm with severe abdominal pain & has had the flu for 3 days. Bad flu throwing up & diarrhea. Blood was drawn Extremely dehydrated nothing was given to her for any of the symptoms or pain. They finally gave her something to drink at 11:00pm there were 3 of us waiting to see a Dr. One showed up finally at 12:15am asked a few questions said let me check your labs. Then the finger pointing began it was the day shift Drs fault no it was the nurses etc. The nurses have about as much personality as my baby toe, and there bed side manor is horrific. Basically from what we got out of it is the whole staff hates the female Dr & the Drs & nurses hate each other. The Dr came back at 1:00am (after I asked for him) said things looked fine & we are discharging you finally at 2:00am we were on our way home told to drink fluids & basically good luck. People seriously need to Remove their heads from there asses. read more

These guys are fantastic ! I had some major medical issues which occurred while I was in Kernville and they literally kept me going until a helicopter arrived and flew me to UCLA 10 hours later. The nurses, Doctors and entire staff did such a great job I'll never be able to repay them for what they did. Special thanks to CEO Tim McGlew for all of his help.
