I use medi-cal and I refuse to go to a western dental again. The front desk is really nice and I never have to wait in the lobby, they get me right in, which I love because I'm always on a tight schedule. I was able to get a deep cleaning and cavities filled and it was just done really well as I didn't feel any pain during it. The dentist is a scary place but it doesn't have to be. This is a very conservative office so don't bring up politics or current events, don't smell like weed, and you'll be totally fine. This is my third visit to pine cone dentistry all my life have been afraid of dentists I never liked them but this place is awesome Dr do is great she's very gentle she informs you everything along the way she's very quick and precise the staff is really good they're very comforting it's very quick there's no wait time I think I've waited 5 minutes right when I get there from my appointment that they call me in and everything is very clean and sterile music is playing calms you down and I had a problem with two of my teeth today my canine in particular is almost in the front and didn't look very good anymore but she fixed it today and it looks like a brand new tooth and it was quick and she just made a world of difference to me and I have two more visits left to address two other issues but I would highly recommend this place to anybody who's afraid of dentist or doesn't like it this is a place to go it's awesome go pine cone dentistry!!!!! read more

I was referred to Dr. Klein last year by a friend who told me how happy she was with his work and that he took Medi-Cal Dental. I have to rely on this because I am disabled and on a minimum fixed income. The Office is small and the staff friendly. My appearance while not fancy was beach casual, no holes or tears. They kept asking who exactly was it that referred me, then looking blank when I said her name. Dr. Klein started off by lecturing then giving me unsolicited life advice for several minutes. One of those self serving circular logic self-help boot-camp things I surmised. I was 61, he is younger and knows nothing about me. The old fashioned X-Ray film instead of digital was okay but reminded me why I the like newer more. The diagnosis was extreme but I suppose accurate. Blaming me for teeth that I "let the last dentist pull", as if I had a choice in my price range, was unnecessary. He then proceeded to tell me all about how good he is at his job and that Medi-Cal doesn't pay for the high quality of materials and workmanship that he requires. Medi-Cal Dental does not allow double billing or out of pocket above their cost limits. He intimated that it would cost thousands over what they pay. This is not the first time I have run into this type of marketing scam. Someone told these dentists that signing up to be a provider (pretending) of Denti-Cal was a way to get poor people in to up-sell them into being top dollar cash patients. Has this ever worked? If you have high dollar dental insurance or cash and can tolerate hyper-conservative people he will probably do well for you. I don't know, I never got that far. read more

Absolutely unprofessional! I scheduled a new patient visit with for my daughter for 8am. Before the visit I was instructed to fill out the new patient form on the website. We arrived to the appointment , paperwork completed. MA at the front desk has no idea how to check eligibility and benefits. Dr leaves patient in the back during a procedure to come to the front desk to assist his untrained staff. Sheesh. Still unable to check eligibility status they phone another MA that is running late to work to walk them through the steps. Once that's all finished Dr. Klein comes in asking if I know anything about studies on Nitrous oxide and the negative effects it has on pregnant women. Then goes on the explain that he's been in the business for 40 years and how he's the only dentist in Kern County that does root canals on children. After he's done going on and on about himself and his achievements we were pulled to do x-rays on the most out dated old-fashioned machine . I mean EVERYTHING in that back office was from the 80's.After the X-rays he pulls me in his office to scold me on my daughters dental hygiene. I'm an African American women and he decides to casually mention that I shouldn't give my daughter "cool-aids" Super Offensive!! My son had a appt scheduled and my husband was running late so he called To reschedule (which they did) and a few days later we got a letter in the mail stating since we didn't make our appointment that the DR feels likes best that we take our business elsewhere!! Went into the office with my husband due to my extream fear of dentists. My husband smokes cannibus for medical reasons, as we were waiting Dr Klein came out and said that whoever was smoking needs to leave they don't treat people that do drugs. Completely unprofessional and rude. If I could give zero stars I would. Today was not the first visit that I was dissatisfied. My first visit was about six months ago. I made four consecutive appointments for myself and my three children, my appointment was first and I was a few minutes late. There was a Latina woman at the front desk with an attitude who tried to refuse my appointment which at the time I was fine with however, my children were still on time for their appointments. The woman at the front desk was directed by her female superior to allow our appointments to proceed as scheduled and the female dentist turned the entire visit around with her attitude and attention to detail. Today however, left me more than disappointed in their professionalism and service. Today my children were scheduled consecutively for their appointments. The lobby currently consist of five chairs and no space. They had balloons and decorations for a birthday that were there for clearly more than a day. The female dentist came to take the first appointment and noticed my three year old playing with one of the balloons and she suggested that maybe my children could take one home. My daughter went back for her visit while my two sons and I waited in the lobby. While waiting, my three year old continued to play with the balloon. Dr. Klein asked whose child was that playing with the balloon then, proceeded to ask that he didn't play with it anymore. My child then let go of the ballon that he was told would possibly go home with him. Shortly after, the young male that checked us in came into the lobby to "fix it" asking what was ours. I told him what was ours and he went back to his desk. Literally two minutes he asked me if I could control my children in a very rude tone. I picked up my kids and walked to the back to get my daughter because clearly they are not equipped for children in that tiny office. After I told the young man that he was rude. I told him that he could cancel the remaining appointments. He asked me how he was rude and tried to open the toy chest to smooth things over. It was too little too late. My sons are three and six sitting in a dentist office at 8am on Christmas break. He should've offered the toys prior and he should've been less rude. It was bad enough I felt disrespected by the dentist for the second time but I refuse to take that disrespect continuously. Needless to say we won't be back. I don't recommend this dentist for families with small children. They are not equipped nor do they have the space or patience. Each time I was there they mentioned how busy it was and just my family and a single patient was there. They can't handle the volume of clients that they schedule apparently. read more

I have gone to Dr Klein off and on for the last 5 years or so and for the most part He's a decent dentist. However I called last week because my mouth was killing me and he gets me in quickly to do some x-rays to find out I have an infection and will need a root canal. He made an appt for a week later (today) to start the root canal and the day of the appointment, 50 minutes before the appointment he cancells on me because the receptionist couldn't figure out how to pick up a phone and check eligibility! I once highly respected Mr.Klein and his business but after today I will never step foot in this establishment again. I was scheduled an appointment to fix a root canal and after many failed attempts and cancellations on his and his team account. I finally made it in to his chair when he walks in with very strange body language then tells his assistant to come here.They go to the other room for a few minutes then he comes back and says have you been smoking. I said I been around someone that smokes and he just throws his hands up and says "I can't do this I can't work on you!" Mind you they have already set up the entire room and started numbing my mouth. He snatches the paper bib off my neck which causes it to rip in half where the metal chain gets stuck in my hair. He storms down the hallway and opens the door not saying anything else. I waited to see if I was gonna get rescheduled but he calls everyone to the back for whatever reason. I decide to leave and still haven't gotten a call back for a reschedule or anything. Super unprofessional. He lets outside problems and issues effect his professionalism. I scheduled a visit with my son for his first exam. My appointment was at 11. It took a about 45 min to get back in a room. Then an additional 20 min to be seen. Dr. Klein explained that he does not like to fight with children to look into their mouths. Which I understood but also felt like they should have told me that when I made the appointment and I let them know how old he was. Dr. Klein who I had a great experience with last time . Started to ask me some questions he asked me how much English he speaks , I said well he's only 2 so he understands but still babbles. Then he goes and how much Spanish does he speak? I was like he doesn't speak Spanish ... ? The he goes well I know a great pediodentist but he doesn't take medi cal sooo ... then just says ya I'm not doing this (because my son wouldn't open his mouth -again he's never been to a dentist and had no idea) but that isn't what bothered me really. I understand him not wanting to fight with my toddler. I think the comments rubbed me the most. I just felt like it was unnecessary. My son does have other insurance with his Dad. I took my son there because I liked Dr. Klein so much the first time . I feel like I should have just taken him to another office . Since I do have other insurance from denti-cal. Dr. Klein's office is outdated. The counters are chipped and the machines have scratches and are rusted. I just think if you have "good" insurance other than denti cal you should go to another office. I guess you can expect outdated for denti cal yet you don't want to go there because of his rude comments . So it's really a lose lose for both . I actually really enjoyed all his employees last time as well but things were different . They weren't rude to me but seemed to be walking on eggshells with Dr. Klein. I had an appointment at this office from a referral on 12/20/22 the office is small equipment is outdated and not the cleanest place. I had Xrays done and sent home. I then had an appointment this morning at 8am 12/21/22 for 1st part root canal I called them to let them know I was running late but I will be there. I arrived no later than 8:05 they took me back right away. That is when Dr. Klein scolded me for being late saying he runs on military time and as far as he was concerned I was already 20 mins late. I said ok. (No other patients in the office) he then puts a bib on me then he proceeds to say in a rude condescending voice. "You need to sit up more I have a bad back" ok I sat up. Then he ask if I had smoked I said yes I did last night. He then asked what I was smoking ( found this odd but ok) I told him I smoked Marijuana. He then goes takes off my bib and says I can't work on you the smell makes me nauseous you need to reschedule. ( I thought to myself if you know that specific smell makes you nauseous why would ask ?) He then said I need to reschedule I go to the front desk where the receptionist asks him when (I can't see his face behind the door.) She then looks at me and says we will call you. I said I can call. She said no we will call you. Ok? ( that means they won't be calling) I left the office feeling belittled as if I did something wrong. But I will not be shamed for medicating with what works for me and my anxiety and mental health. After reading reviews I know I am not alone in feeling mistreated by this office. Beware of a negligent dentist. Dr Klein dropped a drill bit down my throat. Had to go to the emergency room to Confirm it was inside me X-rays did that. During the tooth removal he left the room upset came back in finished pulling my tooth. At this time I didn't know i swallowed the drill bit. He had his assistant check the suction tube machine while I sat there not knowing yet. Then dr Klein came back in sat down said I had some bad news. I dropped the drill bit down your throat Daniel. He said she had NO cavities and went over how to prevent cavities and gave her special solutions. I also took her to USC Dental School to make sure there was no cavities. They agreed with Dr. Klein. After seeing Dr. Klein she flosses and brushes religiously. I can't tell you how many times I tried to get her to do that before! Dr. Klein is very convincing and doesn't scare people. I mean this with all seriousness when I say that DR. Klein is the definition of a miracle worker. The man works non stop and genuinely really cares about his patients. Dr. Klein has already dipped into his own pockets for me and my fiancé. Medi-cal will only cover certain procedures and only pay for certain things. Dr. Klein refuses to do crappy work and will use medications, tools, and procedures that are not covered through Medi-cal. He does this out of the kindness of his heart. If I had the option to give no stars I would give no stars. This dentist has you all FOOLED. The minute you agitate him or make him angry he talks to you like you're a bum in the street. My daughter had dental work done and because her African-American boyfriend came with her he had a fit told her he was not going to do her teeth anymore and her boyfriend couldn't come on the premises, he couldn't even wait in the parking lot to be her ride (he was upset because he didn't laugh at his jokes, or it's a clear case of racism) He never finished the tooth or treatment plan and refused to see her anymore. My daughter has contacted the state of California consumer affairs dental board filed a complaint for patient abandonment as well as verbal abuse. He told her that she was ignorant several timesSaying that how could she ever let her mouth get like this and she was ignorant, repeatedly harassed her by calling her and trying to argue with her over the phone. He violated HIPPA laws by discussing her case with other people without her consent. The office is very old and outdated, we noticed blood on the floor he does not wear a jacket he has blood on his clothes, blood on his glasses, he recapped the needle with his bare hands. He went from one room to another without changing his gloves he turn them inside out. He treats his staff horribly they get no breaks, he made the comment when she was in there that one of his staff wanted to take a Break and he said if she left for a break she was going to be fired. He argues with his staff in front of patients. And as far as we know his CPR license is expired. His dental license expires December 31 of 2019, maybe he should just go on and let it go.Be very careful when going to this establishment you never know what kind of mood he's in or how you will be treated. He also has agreed to be in a Medi-Cal network but is charging patients money on top of what Medi-Cal is paying him which is against the law.
