They did not get back to me after I sent a picture of the hair. I won't be using their services.

I'll start by saying I NEVER write bad reviews.. I think this will be my second one ever, but I…read morefeel it needs to be said. I have waited a week to write this hoping it was just my hair in "shock" or maybe the way I was parting it but no, I have a horrible hair cut. Here is my experience. I went in on a Monday afternoon just to see if on the off chance they were taking walk in's...they weren't. The man at the reception counter was a little snooty and put out when he told me he was alone and had an appointment coming in but booked an appointment for me the following day with another stylist. I returned 15 minutes before my appointment time filled out the card and was taken right away. The stylist was super nice and I will not call her out here because of that. However, I went in looking to have my bangs fixed as they looked like a 2 year old cut them, they were long and falling into my eyes, heavy and a little crooked. I also wanted some face framing fringe and maybe some long layers. She listened and asked all the right questions. She checked in with me a few times but it was too late the damage was already done as she cut my bangs first. They were SHORT way shorter than we had discussed, but they were wet. Then came the blow dry. She knew they were too short as she dried them straight and flat to my forehead. I asked for them to lay right at my eyebrows but no amount of flattening would get them there. They looked awful, but there is no fixing too short bangs. I should have said something but..well I was already starting to get upset and didn't want to cry. I did ask if she could fluff them up a bit and she admitted she purposely dried them flat. I felt the other stylists looking and judging, but that was most likely my own paranoia. I did give her a good tip because she was so nice and I just wanted out of there. Over this past week I have discovered that not only are my bangs a full 1/2 inch shorter than we discussed, but they are crooked and lopsided as well. The face framing fringe is non existent as it is just 2 "layers" one 3 inches shorter than the other. There is nothing anyone can do to fix this. I could have done better cutting my own hair with a Brad Mondo YouTube video. Now I am wearing hats or wearing clips to clip my bangs up and wearing ponytails. Think 1980's front bump-it style only flat and with WAY more hairspray. I know it is only hair and it will grow but I am a woman of a certain age and 1. should not have "baby bangs" and 2.my hair has never grown fast and now it grows even slower. The shop was cute and clean. I can't say the people were nice as I only interacted with my stylist long enough to form an opinion. And she was SUPER nice...just possibly not on her best game. I hate leaving bad reviews but I can't look in the mirror at this monstrosity that is my hair without wanting to cry. This is the only time I have left a salon looking worse than I did going in.

I've been to this place on three separate occasions...all for medium knotless box braids…read more I've already found a replacement place to go but I mayyyy return if I'm in a crunch. Cautionary tale going to this place.... 1. For my natural girls/women; please please please arrive with your hair already washed and blow dried. For them to be African; they DO NOT know the first thing about caring for our type of hair. They do not detangle your hair while washing and when they do detangle your hair; it is bone dry and with a small tooth comb. I made this mistake the first time but smartened up quickly and went my last two times fully prepped. 2. It's a hit or miss with the quality of work. My first visit went great. Had two friendly young ladies working on my knotless box braids. They were fast, efficient and my parts were straight. However, my second and third visit wasn't as successful. There was a constant rotation of people helping my stylist and judging by the little bit of French I do know; she didn't know how to properly part and size the braids. Despite their intervention; my middle part was not in the middle and there were a few braids that were different sizes and lengths. 3. They do not like to take electronic payments (swiping your card) They have the capability to take electronic payment but will pressure you to give cash and to "cash app" them. Just be prepared. 4. Despite their hidden collection of hair; I would come with my own. Based on what I've seen and other reviews; they roll the price of their hair into what they charge and they seem like they have a tendency to open packs they don't need therefore; this may be the reason why their price changes once you get in the chair. 5. It can get loud in there. If you are looking for a more quiet shop; this ain't it. Most of the young women speak good English but they all converse in French. The last braider I had actually didn't speak French but because she needed a lot of help; they started talking about her in French. This was rather unprofessional and I felt bad for her.

This is actually my second time going to this establishment to get my hair braided. The first time…read morethere was no issues with the communication with Tania and her stylist once my hair was done. The second time I booked an appointment with the manager and specified what I wanted to get done and asked her finally the cost. I was told my braids would be $240. About two weeks later is my appointment. I show up at the salon and there is a discussion about what I'm getting done among 3 stylist, one of them the manager, who then says my hair will cost $280. So now I'm shocked because that's not what she told me through texting her. I then said you gave me a different price on my phone. She then says because of the length this is the price. So what if I didn't have the extra money on me??? Very unacceptable. So then I say okay, whatever because I'm already there and my hair is taken out. My hair is started for awhile with one braider and then 3 or 4 braiders the last hour and a half. My appointment was at 8. Around 1:30 I was then told by another braider my hair would be $260 which was what I paid last year. So when she told me I was like okay, no big deal. But I thought that was odd anyway. Now my hair is finished and the braider is doing the last final touches and the manager comes in and her and my braider are having another conversation which I could tell it was about me, then she walked away. My braider then came to me and apologized multiple times and said my hair will be $280 and said her manager overrides her. She apologized again to me and I told her it was okay, don't worry about it. I paid and left. Overall the issue was never about me paying, it's about the miscommunication. My hair turned out good for the record but you tell me $240 then tack on $40 when I get there. No apology from the manager. I'm glad the braider did but it wasn't her place. It's unacceptable and unprofessional from the manager and will not be coming back.

Didn't love my experience here tbh! braided too tight, they were a little on the slower end and…read morecharged too much. charged $200 for mid back box braids which isn't horrribleeee but my usual braider does waist length for $170 :/ my usual braider is also much gentler & much faster. Tainas took 4.5 hours with 2 braiders, at my usual braider it takes 3 hours max with just herself and my braids always come out so beautiful! maybe i'm just spoiled by my usual braider, but needless to say I don't think i'll be going back Tainias- I Only went because usual braider was unavailable the day I needed braids... this being said my head is still sore from tainias, i don't love how braids look from her. and they used soooo much gel haha i don't ever use that much gel in my hair it's a lot! it was like edge control gel and they used globssss of it! they also were not very gentle combing our, im praying there's no breakage from them. My wedding is this year so i went so that my hair can be in a protective style to stay healthy for my big day! they were not gentle. as for the vibe it was a hole in the wall place as most braiding places are, but it was very interesting. it's like a hallway full of rooms and you find here room around the corner, kinda cool kinda odd. Tainia's room wasn't very put together, but i get it, most stylists are like that! it's just hair ya know. and the braiders didnt speak enough english for me to really tell them what i wanted, so i tried and i think they didn't really get it and obviously i unfortunately didnt speak their language either. anyways, if i loveeeddd my braids after it wouldn't get such a low rating for me, but to be honest i'm counting down the days i can take them out and when my usual braider will be back! i'm bummed i spent so much at tainas for these.
