Hello Upper Management, My apologies to Erin, the manager, and her team member at the Hair Cuttery located in Bull Run Plaza for the late review. I wanted to take this opportunity to recognize both of them for the wonderful job they did on my hair and my mom's hair. Erin was absolutely amazing. She took her time, was extremely patient, and was very professional throughout the entire process. I had highlights, toner, a haircut, and a blowout done. The appointment took almost four hours, but it was completely worth it! I was also pleasantly surprised that the final cost was less than I expected. My mom had her hair done on a different day. She was initially hesitant about going to get her hair done, but I convinced her to give it a try, and she was so happy that she did! Unfortunately, I apologize because I cannot remember the name of the hairdresser who did my mom's hair, but she also did a wonderful job. I truly hope Erin and her team member receive the recognition they deserve for their excellent customer service and hard work. Employees like them are a reflection of what great service should look like, and I believe they deserve to be acknowledged--and hopefully even rewarded with a raise! I went to the Hair Cuttery on Sudley Manor Dr in Manassas, VA for something simple a trim at the bottom and a blow dry. The stylist kept asking if I wanted extra services, and I repeatedly said no. I didn't ask for layers, treatments, or anything special. When she finished, the result was disappointing, and then she charged me $99. I was shocked. She mentioned some service name I didn't even recognize, but I never requested it. When I questioned the price, she told me to speak with the manager. The manager was busy with other customers, and I didn't want to cause a scene, so I left. I can't justify paying that much for a basic trim and blow dry especially when the result made me feel worse, not better. Last time I was at this location I had a subpar experience (which was partially my fault for being late, but read my other review for details on that). But this time, the experience was excellent. I had a newer stylist named Gabby (she had a trainer watching over). She did a fantastic job. She asked for guidance when necessary, but she was confident yet gentle with the haircut. First off we explained when we booked that this is my first time bleaching my hair and that i had box dye in my hair. They told me that someone experienced would do my hair. I ended up getting a stylist who kept getting help from other stylists, she didn't do a allergy test on me everyone kept looking at her doing my hair but nobody stepped up to say hey let me take over, she did get my hair lightened but it was not the color i asked for, yet nothing could be done after spending 4 hrs there. A cut and style was part of the package I asked for a face frame n that was fine, she had no idea how to blow dry my hair, the worst blow dry I have ever had. If stylist know that they can't do something there should be a policy stating that customer should wait for a more experienced stylist. No way this lady should be doing anyone's hair. I tried again for a 5:45 appointment with the first available stylist. After waiting 20 minutes past my appointment time. A gentleman that came in long after me was called back. I'm going to be honest, so you can use this review to your own accord. This was my first time to this particular salon. First off, I came early to my appointment 15min prior to my scheduled time, 3 ppl walked in after me and were taken before me. After waiting 45 min after my scheduled appointment I was taken by a young asian woman (Hannah? according to my receipt). She was friendly but the service was not so great. She gave me pricing that happened to differ from the web since they charged according to length (which I didn't know since they do not offer any consultation prior to appt or over phone). I decided to do a color package & agreed to be charged for that + length ONLY. Throughout the process , Hannah brought up many other services that I thought she was just talking about or giving me advice to upsell or get which I never agreed to but said i would think on it. I never once agreed or was even asked consent if I wanted to those treatments nor did she tell what she was doing along the way, rather just did what she assumed. I only found out towards the end when I asked why the price increased so much when it was just length + color package. And she said "I told you" and then charged me for numerous services I didn't even agree to! (yes i unfortunately paid for it too) there is a big difference in asking for a guests approval verses just saying info. And then without even asking again, automatically put shampoo products in the bill assuming I would purchase it. There is no hate to the employee Hannah but she could use some improvement , she did a good job with haircut only & did a sloppy rushed job with dye still on my neck, ears and forehead when I got home... as someone who's new to salon services and came for something straightforward , I felt like I was taken advantage with all these extra services that she did not even bother to tell me as she was doing it otherwise I would have been able to decline those offers on the spot. Sometimes just listen to the client instead of deciding for them and ask multiple times to confirm if they agree to what you are offering.if your new do not go come here alone or do not go at all. I recommend *Carmen* for hair coloring. She is very meticulous about foiling every section of your hair, so that the highlights look natural. Carmen has colored my hair several times before, and I have always been happy with the outcome. I couldn't find her during covid and had highlights done at another salon. The result was streaks of hair that were too chunky and greenish/white (see before pic). Carmen was able to correct it. I got a haircut from the hairdresser named Young (master designer) she had the best reviews which made me go to her please do not trust her. she did not listen to anything i wanted i tried explain to her how i wanted layers and described to her in specific and showed her picture + videos as well but she did not take any of that to consideration and kept repeating whatever she wanted to do and discarding everything i said about what i wanted to do. she was very rude and very negative, she noticed i felt nervous and first thing she said if you are gonna be all like this go find someone else and even said go back home to cutting ur own hair as a insult but i still gave her a chance due to her good reviews. she completely parted my hair wrong and made my layers the most uneven thing you'll ever see it's so bad i had to call in to the manger and the manger saw my hair and gave me a refund. DO NOT TRUST YOUNG do not let these reviews fool you at all. i was still very nice and left a tip to be generous but once i got home and saw my hair she did not desereve the tip. as a professional she should atleast be able to cut my hair evenly. this was my first ever haircut experience and she cut my waist length hair to hair that barely reaches my bra even after i told her i wanted a tiny little trim. negative vibe did not feel welcomed or safe even after telling her its my first time and i wanted to keep my long hair she ignored everything. read more

I had Julia for my hair appointment today (partial highlights, cut & style) and she was amazing! My hair hasn't been cut in six months so it was looking pretty rough lol. If I could give a lower rating, I would. I call around 2PM to see if there is any availability to get my hair cut. They put me on hold temporarily, came back, and said would 4:30PM today work. I said sure, works great. I show up at 4:10 or so (I know early) and wait. And wait. And.... wait. All this time no one gives me an update or anything. I'm just left to, well, wait. Finally, I just get up and walk out. The problem with this place comes down that they have no "receptionist" -- someone to meet/greet folks as they come in and keep them informed. As I finish this, they called me. The lady asked me I was coming in and I told her I was there! She never saw me either. She apologized, but I am not going back. beware of the stylist latifa !!! she is a "so called senior designer" she is nothing of the sort !!! i booked an appointment for a long bob haircut, i sat in her chair and she told me that my hair is really dry & breaking off. so i told her to not cut it really short and i kept repeating myself. about 10 minutes in i realized that she was cutting way too much from what i wanted. i literally had a full blown panic attack at the sight of my hair. the manager came and she agreed that what i wanted is not what i got in the end. the stylist said that it was partly my fault which it wasnt i stormed out of there without paying they need to fire her and shut down the school that gave her the license to cut hair !!!! no stars whatsoever! read more

I made an appointment for a haircut with Audrey, because of her positive reviews online. I showed up on time. She quickly came to get me, right on time. I was told her haircut prices started at $43.00, when I booked the appointment. I mentioned this to her before we started, while she was examining my hair and asking me questions about what I wanted done with my hair. [My hair was a mess. It hadn't been cut in several months] She explained that because my hair was long, there was an increase in price. This seems fair to me , because stylists make their living based on the time spent on a client. She told me she could give me a shampoo, head massage and a wet cut, for $33.00. The treatment I received and incredible massage treatment to my scalp, were worth far more than $33.00. I got one of the best haircuts I have had in years!! I found her to be very professional, friendly and she really cared about what I WANTED, not what SHE wanted to do. I gave her a generous tip. I will certainly be going back to Audrey. I thought it would be along wait with all stylist busy, but I was seen after less than 5 minutes of waiting. I came to get my hair cut a week ago, and I meant to post this up then and had forgotten until today. I have only gotten my hair cut once at this location because I had previously had somebody specific working on my hair. It has been a little over a year since I had been back to a Hair Cuttery, as my experiences are always unpredictable. I buckled and came here because it's less than a mile from my house. After standing in line for about 5 minutes (there was something wrong with the computer that was preventing them from checking in customers and ringing up items, but they managed to get it fixed without too much trouble), I was checked in by Katy. She asked me what I wanted and I let her know I am trying to grow my hair out, but would like a trim, as my last haircut was a pixie fauhawk and it had grown in rather uneven. Katy asked if I'd also like a deep conditioning to help with my hair growth, which I opted for. I was very happy with my cut and experience in general for a few, very specific reasons. One, she did her job and went for the upsell on the deep condition and the blowdry later in the cut, which I know to expect but still dread all the same. However, the way she asked it was not pushy and she did not continue to push after I declined the blow dry, even though it was only a few dollars more (some stylists will try to sneak the blow-dryer on you and neglect to tell you it costs more). Two, she did not try to fill silences with awkward small talk. She had a wonderful sense of humor, but she was also just as comfortable not talking. I like that. Three, I normally box-dye my hair. I do not think I had freshly dyed my hair before seeing her, as I like to take a shower after getting my hair cut to wash off all the little hairs that get everywhere. So my roots were very visible, which usually makes me self conscious when I get my hair done. Stylists in a salon have always commented on the fact that I box-dye my hair, and try to push a salon dye job on me. Every time. It's one of the reasons I stayed away from Hair Cuttery for a while. But Katy didn't so much as mention it, which may seem like a small thing, but to me is a big deal. And lastly, she told me BEFORE the cut was finished what my total was going to be. This might not seem like something that's important but consider previous experiences, best example I can think of is a nail salon. You go in and they push for the upsell, the parafin, the nail art, etc, but they always say "only X dollars more". That's fine but after several upsells suddenly you're looking at a $100 job and wondering how you spent so much money. It is SO telling of their business practices that I was told when she offered the deep condition and blow dry that it would be X dollars more, and this is what your new total would be. I didn't have the energy to math that night, and so I really appreciated that little extra mile she went. I felt totally relaxed, and not at all worried that I'd walk out with something awful. My hair feels amazing, has shape now, and I will be making an appointment with her next time I need to come in! read more

Decided to get my haircut after a long time not getting it done. Went here and the woman Lizzy did such a great job on my hair. I love it!!! Donated 17 inches to Locks of Love and am so happy. My hair looks fantastic, it feels so much lighter, donating feels great, and Hair Cuttery is amazing. There is one about 1 min from me but I prefer this one on Sudley Manor Drive. Not really sure how this place has good reviews. I showed up for a haircut (nobody greeted me and I spent 5 minutes waiting for the "receptionist"). When she finally approached me she looked as if she was having the worst day of her life. I asked for a trim, while she was texting as I was speaking I go, "is...that ok?" She replied "No, not really, sorry." I was a bit in shock; I just turned around and left. That marked the end of me ever returning to Hair Cuttery again, just atrocious. read more
