Great product but terrible customer service, which is extremely unfortunate given we are repeat customers. Initially the sales representative was very friendly and helpful, but after asking to see cheaper options, received a complete 180 experience. Sales associate was dismissive of our questions and seemed in a rush to get the interaction over with. When wrapping up, sales associate instructed us to just go to the register and walked away. When arriving at the register, another sales associate was complaining to us that the initial associate never checks out their customers and made us feel bad for needing assistance checking out. After waiting for the jeweler to construct the necklace as expected, sales associate comes out with the free box and infers that we would not want to pay extra for a nicer box. Associate gave us the box, briefly says goodbye, and walks away. Inside was not extremely busy for a Saturday, but received the worst service in 10 years of being customers which is very upsetting. Hoping that this was a one-time off interaction, but will think again before returning. read more

Kettermans took my late mothers heirloom jewelry pieces and made the most beautiful toi et moi ring for me for my 1 year anniversary of being married. I attached pictures to show before and afters, the small brilliant round Diamond was my moms first engagement ring, and for not complaining about how small it was my dad surprised her with the bigger one on their 1 year anniversary. My mother wore a size 5 and I wear a size 10, so there was no way to resize them. Jaime called and texted me theough the whole process and they delivered magic. Had a good experience getting a watch worked on (wrist band adjustment). Very nice service folks, and there were plenty of them. It was very busy, being this close to Christmas, but the vibe was really good all the same. They offered rum cake and coffee, and had puppies to pet (unsure why for a jewelry store, but it was sweet/cute). Not what I would call cheap ($30.00 for wrist band work, removing links), but nothing is cheap these days, and the service was very good, in spite of the crowds. Will return. read more

I have mixed feelings about my experience with Ketterman's. I want to first rave about their fast turn around. My diamond bracelet's clasp broke, and my mother in law brought it in. They evaluated my bracelet and noticed that some of the bracelet was compromised due to it being to large on my wrist. I came in and the lady was super nice and informative. She showed how the bracelet stretched over time and the links were becoming loose. She also showed me how the bracelet was suppose to look (about an inch shorter). We talked about getting the bracelet fully repaired and resized. She even made a comment when the links were fixed, that it would probably be only four links taken out, but we would have to see after the repair. I go to pick up my bracelet a week later (today). She grabbed the links, and I immediately made a comment that to many of them were taken out. We tried to bracelet on, and it fit! As I looked down, I saw a link still loose in the bracelet. I pointed it out to the sales rep (different woman). She immediately told me that wasn't part of the repair, and it would have been $1000 to get what I was talking about. I told her the only reason I considered the repair at all was because it seemed very affordable at the original quoted price, and I probably wouldn't have fixed it at all if they had given me the +$1000 quote. Whether it was a miscommunication at some point, I'm glad that I got my bracelet back as it was an anniversary gift. I was planning on bringing other jewelry in, but I'm reconsidering at this point considering the circumstances. I don't know why someone would extensively point out damage to a bracelet and not repair it. Just make sure you know what you're getting into with them I suppose. They did do a good job for what they did repair for me. read more

I have been here on quite a few occasions and always impressed until my last visit in February. My wife had lost her ring in Leesburg and recovered a few days later by a total stranger. My first stop upon getting it back was Ketterman's as I wanted the ring cleaned to surprise my wife. I arrived at the store and was greeted by a few of the employees as they had heard about my wife's missing ring from Mr. Ketterman that morning. They were all excited and looking to help me. I asked to have it cleaned and they immediately took it back. Within a couple of minutes an employee came out to ask me to sign a waiver stating that from time to time loose stones can fall out during cleaning ( in the years of having jewelry cleaned, I have never had this waiver presented including here at Ketterman's) a few minutes later the rep came back to inform me that one of the stones had fallen out during the cleaning (weird timing). I was then informed that they could reset the stone and reinforce the others but it would cost me over $325 to do so. I was so disappointed that they ruined my wife's ring when I was trying to surprise her. The next week, I drove to Frederick, MD to the creator of the ring and they reset the stone for $20 ( a huge difference). I hope that Mr. Ketterman reads this message as I had high standards for your shop and do not want this becoming a common practice without your knowledge. I tried coming in to see you on several occasions and the reps kept telling me you were not available. They wanted me to tell them the reason for the visit but I was afraid they would not share this with you. Best of luck to you and I hope this does not happen anyone else. read more

Please don't go here for jewelry repairs! Sales okay, but repairs were severely overpriced and work was terrible. Brought in an antique ring that had the band out of round and asked if they could make it wearable again. Charged $453 bc they said some of the stones and prongs were loose as well. Bc it's a sentimental piece, I agreed. Picked it up and the band is better but still damaged. Weak area still weak. They said I should have asked for stabilizer bar. How was I to know what to ask for? All I wanted was it to be wearable again. I don't work there, I don't know how they fix it. I thought they knew what they were doing. Told them how unhappy I was and sales clerk just stood there like, "oh well!" Ring unwearable but the stones are tight. Great! What a waste of time and money. I'm so disappointed! read more

Abby went above and beyond in placing a Pandora ring and a gift set over the phone. I finally had a chance to stop by the brand new building to pick-up my order. Brightly lit, gorgeous display cases filled with all sorts of jewelry, gifts galore, festively decorated and plenty of staff! I decided the ring wasn't really what I wanted to gift so Justin assisted in placing an exchange. I needed to replace 14k gold jacket backs for several pairs of earrings. While it was a busy Saturday in December; the check-in process was seamless and wait time not unreasonable. Everyone is courteous and friendly; they were offering refreshments; Tammi's cake is delicious! I purchased some holiday gifts and cards while waiting. Kate was very helpful re: the different size earring nuts / jackets needed; she even straightened one of the 14k gold posts which was slightly bent - gratis! We discussed antique jewelry; and she evaluated an antique ring I was wearing. She and the jeweler on site were thorough re: what may be involved time and expense-wise in resetting the piece. This family business also gives back to our community in so many ways, whether volunteering personally or hosting fundraisers. A local gem! read more

I have gone to Ketterman's and have multiple pieces that came from that store (the original location). I have purchased several Pandora pieces from the new location as well. All was ok until I took my brand new engagement ring to them to discuss a design flaw (it did not come from Ketterman's). Let me first explain that there are more important things to me in this life than to wear a piece of jewelry that costs as much as a body part. Combined, we are one person short of the Brady Bunch and our priorities are a bit different. That in mind, after opening his eyes to my viewpoint on not caring so much about diamonds, my fiancé went on the hunt for the perfect diamond alternative; searching everything from Montana sapphires, lab diamonds, and moissanite. He landed on a 2 ct. equivalent moissanite and had it set in a beautiful floating three stone band. It was PERFECT and the day he gave it to me and asked me to be his wife was one of the best days of my life. Fast forward to about two weeks later when I realized the floating setting and the size of the stone didn't mix well (the stone was too big for the design of the mounting) and my finger was being scratched by the stone. I took the ring to Ketterman's for some expert advise - something I thought I could trust - I was wrong..... I waited for about 20 minutes to be seen by an "expert" - not a complaint because it gave me time to get wedding band ideas. A gentleman noticed me looking at some wedding bands and asked me if I'd been helped yet, to which I smiled and said "not yet". I explained to him what I was there for and we had a nice exchange... he complimented my "diamond" ring (from afar) as I am sure my eyes lit up every time I looked at it myself. Everything was fine until he asked if he could see my ring; to which I obliged. I'll tell you I have NEVER seen someone's face change so quickly and you know why? Because upon examining the ring, he likely had noticed that it had a rainbow colored refraction - a telltale difference (really one of the only noticeable differences) between a diamond and moissanite. He went from excited to talk to me to completely cold and almost judgmental. He made a comment about it saying something like "the center stone clearly is not but are the outside stones diamonds?" I answered "yes they are and the center stone is moissanite". His visible change in excitement made my heart sink. Why would someone think my ring isn't as special because it's a diamond alternative? Again - I personally could absolutely CARE LESS if I am wearing a 2-carat diamond or a 2-carat equivalent moissanite. Everyone is completely entitled to their needs, wants, and desires. Mine is exactly what my fiancé did for me. To me, it is not diamonds or any material object that validate your relationship - it is about your connection, your love, and what you both cherish in life. I digress. So anyway, now I'm feeling pretty down because the salesperson (whose name started with an "S") completely changed once he had my precious valuable in his hands, but since he wasn't my assigned "expert", I got my ring back and decided to give MY assigned person a chance to be what I expected from the Ketterman's staff. When my name was called I felt excited again to to talk to someone who would value my precious commodity the way I do and you know what? It was the SAME guy who came to help me and AGAIN when he realized who he had just been paired with after seeing my face; his face again visibly changed. He took my ring to the jeweler and came back shortly. He did not answer my questions and instead told me verbatim "get used to wearing such a large gemstone". I wonder if he even took the time to explain to the jeweler what I was asking for. In the end, I'm sorry Ketterman's salesperson that I did not have a fancy 2-carat diamond for you to look at. I'm sorry I seem to have wasted your time by making you look at something you deemed to be less important. I promise you though, it doesn't make me less worthy than those who do. Ketterman's - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE talk to your people about how they interact with people who don't "fancy" expensive diamonds over an alternative. We do exist out there and our money/business is just as important.... unless you make it a practice to only care about those who want to spend a kidney on diamonds in your store? Just a finish to my story - my ring ended up reset into another three-stone mounting by the jeweler it came from and I have found another local (mom & pop shop) jeweler who is currently building a custom wedding band. I am aware Ketterman's is capable of doing these same things but sorry Ketterman's - you lost me on that business. I will NEVER bring my ring into your store ever again. Maybe I'll buy a Pandora charm here or there - but for my most precious piece of jewelry, it will only be seen by those who appreciate and treat it with the same value as the person wearing it. read more

We have lived in the area since 1997 and in Leesburg since 2000. We have heard great things about Ketterman's but continued to drive 30 miles to a store we have used for many years. Just recently I decided to go to Ketterman's due to the convenience to have some work done on 3 pieces of jewelry. The work took a few weeks and I was very surprised at the final price for 3 resizings and a new mount for my diamond ring. Today we went in again due to convenience to see how much it would cost to have our daughter's sorority pin made into a ring for her birthday. The first thing the jeweler said was that the pin is not even real gold. That wasn't our question and we did not feel welcomed. He took the pin and came back later and questioned our daughter on how much she loved her sorority because it would cost $1,200 due to the cost of gold and the amount of labor required. We told him that was more than we expected and he told my daughter to continue wearing it as a pin. We went to another place and were told immediately the pin was 10k gold and they could set it into a pronged ring for 1/4 the cost of the Ketterman's quote. Ketterman's got me once with their overpriced work but will never get me again! Driving 30 miles to Falls Church saved us $900 today!! read more

After years as a Ketterman customer, I was very disappointed today (Saturday, 9/22/18). I went in at 10 am (when the store opens) and saw that there were many more employees than customers. All I needed was a watch battery, so I figured I'd be in and out in a short time. The employee asked what I needed and looked me up in their system. She then said that the watch would be ready for pickup on TUESDAY! I said I was counting on getting it back today, as I needed it for work on Monday. She replied that if I was willing to pay and ADDITIONAL $10 I could get "priority" status. I declined. $10 extra to get a watch battery replaced when the store was open for another 7 hours?!? Seemed ridiculous to me, so I left. I went to another store where they had 1 employee and 1 customer and had my battery installed in 10 minutes. Doesn't make sense to me! I went there to have my watch put a battery. Then they said we will have our watch people take on it. They said we will have to sent it out but you have to pay $25 and I said okay it should be done in two weeks. I said okay two weeks come no phone called. Then I called they said let me take a look. She came back and said we have to called the watch people then again put me in hold. She yes they have to order the part and it's going to cause one hundred something. I said okay it should be done with in a week and weeks went by no phone call I called again. Sorry, they are still waiting for the part. Again I said okay after a month. Finally, I got a phone call they said it really. So I go to pick it up the people that was working there was very rude. I said I am here to pick my watch. No hi or hello and she give me my watch and said it's $225. And I said really I thought it's only one hundred something and it's took you guys 1 months to fixed this but then she said you have know. Wow not even say sorry for the inconvenience it though this long to get this fixed. I was very shocked and the people that work there is not friendly at all. My be because I am Asian. UPDATED 8-11-17: Picked up my repaired ring today. The workmanship did not disappoint and my ring literally sparkles like brand new! Customer service was impeccable just as it was during my first visit. I also bought a gift and they custom wrapped. I am hooked on this place My first visit today to bring my engagement ring in for repair.....I was greeted immediately upon arrival and in no more than 5 minutes my ring was being looked over by a jeweler for an estimate. Everyone working there was super knowledgeable and friendly. I expected it to be a nice jewelry store but had no idea it was an awesome gift shop, too. I like the fact that not only do they carry beautiful higher end pieces, they also have lots of moderately priced jewelry and gifts, too. They have tons of Pandora and Brighton inventory as well. I browsed a while and look forward to picking up my repaired ring next week and browsing more! A note about leaving my ring for repair.....they recorded every detail of my ring which included numerous photos for record keeping. I took my antique ring from the 20's there to be resized. Our sales person (Becky) was great and very informative. We bought the ring from a dealer on line and didn't get any history to go along with it. She was able to tell us some details about the ring we would have never known otherwise. They said it would take a week, and I got it back 2 business days and the ring looks and fits perfect. They also did an appraisal for us (which we added on later and still got the ring back early) which was very reasonable. The ring is platinum--we took it there on a recommendation from a friend, but they also have a platinum specialist in house and all the work is done on site. Overall, great experience! read more

For sentimental and environmental reasons, I wanted to transform some heirloom jewels into an engagement ring and wedding band. The staff at Ketterman's was extremely helpful and I feel I got great value for money here. They helped me figure out what to do that was within my price range and also gave me advice about style and what is popular, since I didn't know much about jewelry. I was kind of on a time crunch to get the pieces done, and they were incredibly helpful with this! I got the jewelry done in time and it was all gorgeous. Yay Ketterman's! I bought my wedding band from Ketterman's and have had it (along with my engagement ring) resized twice there. The first time, I knew the ring size the staff member suggested was slightly small, but truthfully, I was just excited to have them and wear them since I was a newlywed at the time. Fast forward to last week, about a year after my wedding. I decided it was finally time to bring them back in to get them sized correctly. I left the rings at the store for resizing and went in to pick them up today. They seemed a little big so I asked the staff member working with me for a second opinion, just to be sure, as I didn't want to walk out with them just to pay another $200 to get them sized again. My concerns were completely brushed off by the staff member. He totally ignored my concerns and walked away with my credit card before I could even get a word in. I calmly tried to ask him again after he came back with my card, at which point he verbatim said to me "chill out" and "don't have an anxiety attack." I was completely taken back by this and left the store immediately afterwards. I suffer from anxiety and believe this is a highly inappropriate thing to say to any person. There were at least two other staff members standing in our immediate vicinity that heard this happen as well. It's safe to say I will not be going back there for services in the future. read more

If you're looking for something on par with Chrome Hearts ((NYC/CA) you won't find it here. Repairs to jewelry are amateur at best & the repairs to my wife's Gold anklet broke twice. I'll not take back for a third "repair". Clientele? Well limousine liberals would be an accurate description. Again, the staff is precious.
