Pretty good visit with Lynn. I needed to get a ring resized (bigger) and an appraisal. Lynn took care of my paperwork and determining what size my ring should be and also setup the date that my ring would be appraised. Not knowing how much a ring appraisal should be or how much to resize the ring, I felt like they were okay. After returning home, I called back and decided to wait on the appraisal and just have the ring sized up. I received a call just two days later that the ring was ready to be picked up. I was shocked they were able to upsize the ring so quickly as when Lynn explained the process, it seemed like it would take some time. I took a quick glance around the store and should I need any jewelry for myself or others, I highly recommend giving this store a shot to win you over. Anyone you speak to in the area will tell you to go to Mervis, they obviously have not been to Midtown. We did not have an appointment and stopped in on a Saturday (jewelers busiest day) and Midtown took their time with us, gave great advice, cleaned my jewelry even though it was not from there nor did I ask them to, and were beyond friendly. EXCELLENT Experience! I had a great experience working with Vijay and Lynn (who stood-in for Vijay in his absence when I came in to order the ring). Vijay took time to explain how to select a diamond and he worked with me to find exactly the ring and setting style to match my tastes. Last year on my Vacation in Heidelberg Germany. I came across a little watch shop and saw this Tutima watch brand. When I was ready to buy it the shop closed for the whole week because of the Christmas holiday. I had this watch on my mind ever since. Do not purchase jewelry at this store. Every item found in the store can be found online for roughly 1/3 the price. Midtown has several items that are out of season from long ago by various "designers" yet marks up prices 300 to 500%. Additionally, the owner is disingenuous and has that slickster, BS kind of talk. He doesn't value repeat customers. I bought (as a 2nd time customer) a combo piece of a pendant/necklace and matching ring for my wife, but later found out that these items were way out of season and that they are available for 1/3 the price listed at Midtown. There's really no point in buying something there. Sure, go have a look. See if you like something there, then just find it online for far lower cost and without the hassle of dealing with an arrogant owner. read more

I was able to email about different concepts and price options, until we ultimately determined the right custom-style ring. I found the pricing was very agreeable, and Midtown Jewelers was even able to get the ring shipped out (we chose the stones in store), created based on 3-d blueprints, and delivered on pretty short notice before the holidays. Most corrupt and worst jewelery store EVER! Nancy Malesic is a professional scam artist. We agreed on a price in WRITING and she emails me the calculator miscalculated and wouldn't honor the agreed on price in writing. I believe the calculator is only as smart as the user, which in this case, apparently isn't very, or at all. She said instead she'll throw in an appraisal which I don't want but tells me to go ahead and take the ring and her appraiser can mail the appraisal (I have the email saved). I called AGS and they said her proposal was unethical. Will be filing a complaint with GIA, AGS and BBB. I feel bad for anyone else who's been robbed by her or this store, most these ratings have no review so probably are fake. We went back and complained, and they fixed it...but if you want to have that perfect moment, it's kind of spoiled when you try to put the ring on and it doesn't fit. I recently got engaged, and I wanted to get my ring appraised for insurance purposes. After having lunch at Clyde's in the Reston Town Center (wonderful service), my fiance and I decided to check out Midtown Jewelers, as it said on their website that they do appraisals. When we walked in, the man working there (I think he is the manager) was disinterested at best. He said that the appraiser is only in the shop on Wednesdays until 4pm. Because I am a teacher, it is hard for me to take time off during the week, but I made an appointment anyway and submitted my leave time. Unfortunately, on the day of my appointment, the store closed because of snow. I received a phone call at 11 that morning to reschedule my appointment; the woman said that the appraiser would be in on Friday. I asked her if I could have a later time, and she gave me 4pm - reassuring me that she would call if that time proved problematic. Fast forward to Friday - I have received no call that 4pm has proven inconvenient, so I leave work early and drive 30 minutes to Reston. Upon arrival, I tell the sweet woman behind the desk that I have a 4pm appointment for an appraisal. She looks confused and checks her appointment system - yes, she says, I am on the list. Unfortunately, the appraiser has already left for the day (!!??), but suggests that she might be able to call him and see if he can come back for my appointment. At this point, I am completely confused - why would the schedule me (and not call to change the appointment) if the time did not work? And additionally - why would the appraiser leave without looking at his appointment calendar?!? The man who I assume is the manager comes over to the counter and automatically shuts down the offer to call the appraiser - "he won't want to set up all of his tools again." Then he says to me, "The best thing I can do is offer you a free appraisal on another date." He doesn't seem to see a problem with the fact that I HAD AN APPOINTMENT that I was attending - that his staff messed up! I tell him no, that "I have tried to schedule this appraisal twice - there is no way that I am requesting more time off for an appointment that may or may not happen." He didn't seem to care or feel bad. As a future bride, my fiance and I have a number of jewelery-related purchases to make - and I can assure you, they will not be made at Midtown Jewelers. read more

I brought a watchthe face in that I inherited from my grandmother that she got in the 1920s I wanted to get it fixed to give to my mom for mothers day. Not only did they do an amazing job restoring the watch; they explained the intracacies of the watch and the monetary value of it. Knowing this, Midtown Jewelers still treated me like a valuable customer and offered to size my finger and confirm the exact size of the stone to ensure a good fit when I ordered from the other site. I was very impressed with how well they treated me, even though I'm sure they knew I would be a small-time client. When the setting came in, I had them reset the stone and conduct an appraisal. The process was very smooth and I was quite pleased. When it was time to buy a coordinating wedding band, I skipped the online store and opted instead for the excellent service at Midtown. They were once again very helpful. Our salesperson was very patient, going from ring to ring to ring helping us find the best ring that fit our budget. Not once did we feel rushed or pressured to buy anything that we didn't want or couldn't afford. He seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we found just the right ring. I have since gone back and purchased more jewelery from them and highly recommend them. Most notable is the kind, quality service that seems to be missing from most higher-end establishments these days. I am not a rich woman and, while they have made some money off of me, I'm sure it pales in comparison to what some others have spent in their establishment.
