I have a very long association with Dr. Chang and this dental practice, so I feel that I can verify time and again my rating of 5 stars. Seeing a dentist on a regular basis for a cleaning and regular check up has made it possible to have very little done in the way of repair due to decay. (I am 82, by the way and still have my teeth) He goes above and beyond for his patients. Shortly before Christmas a few years ago, the office was closed for the holidays when a crown fell off and here I was without front tooth (fortunately I had rescued it). Emergency contact was made and he and his staff came in to help. When things happens, it seems that it is at the worst possible time. I HAD severe dental issues. I've seem some ok dentist, and some awful (borderline malpractice) dentists. When I saw Dr. Chang, and he laid out in detail my dental prognosis, I thought he was going to recommend removal of all my teeth, and dentures. Instead, he calmly, compassionately, and with confidence said, "We have a lot here to work with, I've seen worse". Focusing on the positive. Rather than dreading seeing the dentist, I looked forward to it. Each stage I saw the improvement. Dr. Chang, along with Dr. Li display a professionalism, pride, and even art in their meticulous work. The bonding Dr. Li did on my front teeth, was flawless! Dr. Chang is a great dentist. He and his staff know my family each by name and has truly gotten to know us all. My husband and sons (ages 14 and 20) started to go to him about 3 years ago. I continued to see my old dentist out of town, because I was hesitant to change. After hearing from the family how great he was, and tired of schlepping extra miles every six months to see the dentist, i decided the give Dr. Chang a try. My 14 year old's words were something like, "he's they best dentist ever". His exams are VERY thorough, asking questions about other health issues that might impact your teeth and gums. His office has the latest technology and can perform most services all there. He explains every thing he is doing and why -- and answered all my questions respectfully. He takes extra care to ease the patients who are nervous. But even us folks who aren't nervous, he makes sure we are comfortable during the process. His office is conveniently located, clean (which is important!) and scheduling was a breeze. Dr. Chang is a fantastic General Dentist in Roseville, CA. He is honest and conservative. My husband just had an implant today. It was an upper front tooth that was knocked out when he was 12 playing football. The procedure was painless and the results were fantastic! His tooth is beautiful! The size, color, and fit are perfect. There is no way you can tell which tooth is the implant. We have been with Dr. Chang since he bought the practice from Dr. Wilson years ago. We have been very pleased with the team that Dr Chang has in his office also. They are very pleasant and professional. Debbie the hygienist is very gentle and does a very thorough job. I moved to Roseville, CA two years ago and looking for a good dentist.... Voila! I found it.....with that said, I have been seeing Dr Kevin Chang for about two years now. I would characterize his approach as conservative. He looks out for his patient's best interest in their dental health while not promoting the most radical, expensive treatment. Dr Chang goes and above beyond to minimize pain and discomfort. After my procedure, Dr Chang called later in the day to check on pain levels. He is highly skilled and takes sufficient time to do a procedure properly. He also takes the trouble to explain what he is doing and why, which also acts to reduce patient anxiety. Dentists and I have always had a difficult relationship: it started in my pre-teen years, with the planned removal of half my teeth, in order to make room for some orthodontia that cost my parents far more than it was worth, and evolved into a ten year hiatus from allowing anyone with a drill to go anywhere near my mouth. Some call it phobia; I called it self-protection. Oh sure, I had the occasional one-appointment stand with a dentist, when a tooth would insist upon treatment or even the dreaded root canal and coronation with crowning, but for the most part, I resisted the possibility that perhaps I might benefit from seeing someone who would take sharp objects to my mouth and then charge me for the experience. A few years ago, this behavior resulted in an emergency: a partner to whom I had to confess that one of my teeth had gone suddenly missing after crumbling away for a few months/years while I ignored it. Instead of judging me, though, the partner worked with me to find good drugs to make a dental experience, well, palatable. Six or seven root canals and ten years later, my fear of dentists has subsided to near panic instead of outright terror. When we moved recently, I had to find a new dentist closer to our home, and my best friend--whose mouth looks like a super model's--recommended Dr. Chang. My teeth will never be that white, but she told me that she would never see anyone else, and that members of her family with dental phobias loved him. I saw him last Fall, and he carefully took a history from me, asking me questions and telling me that I don't have "crappy teeth," which I had always believed. He told me that I was doing a good job with brushing and flossing (if one doesn't see a dentist on a regular basis, brushing and flossing become more than necessary), and he told me that he could keep me from needing a root canal every time I see a dentist. Uh huh. Sure, I avoided dentists and sure, I had enough root canals to start my own personal tunnel to Africa, but I didn't think that the two facts went together. Dr. Chang took some kind of fancy X-rays that didn't involve gagging me with a hard little stub of plastic. Dr. Chang went over those x-rays with me, explaining everything he saw. Dr. Chang listened to what I told him, and based his treatment plan on what I said. Dr. Chng treated me with respect and understood my anxiety. Today was treatment day. First, let me say that I've become a connoisseur of the novacaine shot. I've always felt something--but when Dr. Chang gave me novacaine, I wasn't sure that he'd actually penetrated my skin. During the actual procedure--filling a cavity and putting some antiseptic solution in some deep pocketed gums (unfortunately, having deep pockets in one's gums is not the same as having deep pockets in a lawsuit)--Dr. Chang explained everything he did, asked me if I was ok, and didn't force me to open my mouth wider than the gates of Hell when Hitler came waltzing through. It was the best dental experience I've ever had---and I've had far more than my fair share (imagine that! 10 years without a dental visit and now I am playing catch up. Whudda thunk?). Anyway--I can't say enough great things about Dr. Chang. He's kind, he's gentle, he's sweet, he's intelligent, he's honest, he's relatively inexpensive, he's ethical, he's sensitive, and he's dextrous and has great technique. Even if you don't have dental phobias, I am sure he's a fabulous dentist. But if you have any kind of phobia about the people with latex gloves who insert surgical instruments in your mouth, I highly recommend Dr. Chang. He'll make you WANT to come back. Really. read more

Everyone in the office has taken the time to get to know me, do their utmost to make sure I'm comfortable, and they always have a high level of professionalism.
