Excellent dental assistant who cleaned my teeth. Dr. Hansen seems to like his job. He had a fun chair manner.

How are the doctors fees. High? Medium?

I say typical high side for brooklyn - 300+ for out of pocket for adults. Same for kids which gave me sticker shock.

I've also had a lot of work done previously so I hate to be judged by a new dentist/hygienist every time. At the beginning of this year I was looking for a new dentist to finally just get over my fear and make sure I'm all good. I ended up choosing to visit Dr. Steinbach after checking out the different yelp reviews on him and his office. I called and made an appointment and made sure to emphasize that I was nervous. When I walked in the first time, Lisa who works at the front desk was really nice and always helpful. The hygienist and Dr. Steinbach both knew how I felt about the dentist and did their best to make me feel 100% comfortable and they succeeded! Everyone in the office is so welcoming and they make the entire dentist appointment comfortable. I've been to the office about 3 times now and never had to wait to be seen. I have had some root canals done through my previous dentists and Dr. Steinbach recommended that I see an endodontist as they have more of a preventative measure approach so therefore, the endodontist who specializes in root canals can figure out if I need to re-do them or if they're all good. The office is also very modern and the chairs are so comfortable! I can't stress how comfortable I've felt at the office and I don't dread going to the dentist anymore. Highly highly recommend, especially if you have a fear of the dentist.

Environment is very comfortable Dr. Steinbach was the first doctor when I was visiting right after covid ended because I had a root canal during covid that needed a crown. He was very honest with me and told me I would need an implant. It was a very dramatic news for me but they were wonderful. I was referred out to the close by ortho dentist and the came back to get my crown. The entire experience was straight forward and easy. They never tried to upsell me anything. My only issue with this location is the Dental Cleaning. After finishing up the issues with my teeth, I had a dental cleaning and it was extremely painful. I thought it was just normal when I started visiting the Court Side location since it was more convenient for me, Dr. Karpova did my cleaning was literally pain free. I assumed it was cause maybe previously I had dirty teeth This month I did cleaning at this location again since it was convenient and since I been keeping up with all my cleanings it wouldnt be too bad. No, it was very rough and felt rushed. I did not feel comfortable at all. I might try court street again for cleaning, but if its still painful I think I will switching for cleaning. However for other procedures where the actual dentist is working on it, I would absolutely recommend this place.

After the initial consultation, I was told that I needed to have extensive work that was not covered by my insurance. I took their word for it and proceeded to start the work needed. I paid $4,000. I did contact my insurance afterwards and they said that it was 100 percent covered, and that they should have submitted a claim, but to ask for the code. When I called, I was given the code, and when I told them that that code was 100 percent covered, she changed it to another code which my insurance covers 20 percent. I called several times to inform her of that and to ask why she changed the code, but it was "claimed" that she couldn't be reached. I will attempt to go in person to clear this up since she cannot be reached by phone. I am very disappointed. Thank God I did not have all the work needed done. That would have been an additional $2000! I will return with a follow-up review after I go in person and see if this matter will be resolved.

I've always had a great experience at this dental studio and always feel well taken care of. Especially coming from a dentist that created so many problems in my mouth. During the pandemic, I stopped going to the dentist and also moved to Long Island. It was two years since I saw someone and I also no longer had the insurance that Boerum Hill Dental took. As soon as I received insurance they took, I came right back to them. It was to my surprise they still remembered me and my family and also remembered the conversations we had. Although they are always booked up I would wait months to get the treatment they give here. You can tell they really care about your health and also have meaningful conversations with you as well as educating you about your teeth health. Every member of their team is amazing and I would continue to go to this Dental Studio for as long as I can. Other things to know: 1. The office is very clean and nice. 2. The waiting area has a few chairs but it doesn't seem like they ever overbook. Im usually always the only one in the waiting room when I arrive. 3. The receptionist is very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. 4. The dentist is amazing and also very knowledgeable and kind. 5. Parking is hard to find but there are parking garages in the area ranging from $20 to $40. 6. The train station is also just a few minutes away. 6. There is hardly ever a wait time when I arrive and are always prepared for me.

I was told that the procedure would cost $3,600 for all 4 teeth to be removed. When I asked about insurance coverage, I was told by the treatment coordinator that the removal was covered, but the bone graft and membrane was not, and that it was needed in order to prevent infection. Also, I had to pay up front, and so I ended paying $1,800 right then and there, as you know, you should trust your dentist right? Well, it didn't feel right that I should have to pay so much to have a routine procedure, so after some consultation with friends/family, I decided to contact an oral surgeon. I was told that the bone graft and membrane is usually not needed with wisdom teeth, because you do not get implants for wisdom teeth. I called back and asked why I was getting this procedure to be told by the receptionist "we do this procedure for all teeth extractions". At that point I asked for a refund, which I was told I would get. Two weeks pass, no refund. Call again, and again. After the third time I disputed the charge because this should not be that difficult. Went to the oral surgeon and was told the graft was completely unnecessary and even questioned the ethics of mandating every tooth removal have this process. The removal is 100% covered by my insurance with the oral surgeon. To really cap it off, I got a letter in the mail from this office saying they were going to withdraw from my care. Really? I already withdrew because I was being ripped off and couldn't get a refund after multiple requests. Totally lacking in professionalism, and decency. Especially during a time where things are very difficult for most people. Good riddance.

My kiddo fell and chipped one of his front teeth. It is a small chip, but it did expose a tiny bit of nerve. The dentist at BiteSize examined him (he cried throughout the entire exam) and told us he would lose the tooth, full stop. She told us she could pull it that day, or in a few weeks, but that there was no hope for the tooth. We decided to wait a bit before having it pulled. We were devastated (our baby!!). After leaving the office, I felt unsettled and decided it was worth getting a second opinion. The dentist at the second practice (also in Park Slope) went above and beyond to care for my toddler and for us as parents. When I first contacted her, she was on vacation, but she responded to my voicemail within an hour and asked me to text her photos of the tooth so she could gauge how serious it was from afar. After looking at the photos, she told us there was hope, and to hold off on any intervention until she could examine him. She also connected us to an emergency pediatric dentist in town, in case our kid stopped eating during the week she was away. He continued eating like normal and didn't exhibit pain that was out-of-the-ordinary directly after a fall. We saw our new dentist the day she was back from vacation. She examined the tooth and had our kid GIGGLING in the dentist chair! He didn't shed a single tear. She talked with him directly and let him use her dentist tools to give me an "exam". She was so patient and made him feel comfortable and at ease through the entire visit. At the end, she told us to wait it out, and that kids have an incredible ability to heal themselves. And here we are...5 months and one follow-up visit later....with a smile full of teeth! He didn't need to get it pulled in the end. We can no longer see the nerve, and his tooth didn't even discolor as the dentist at BiteSize explained it would. I would seriously caution against BiteSize if you are searching for a low-intervention approach to dentistry. If we had stuck with them, he would have had yet another traumatic visit to the dentist and would have lost his front tooth for years. Always trust your gut and get a second opinion.

I was referred here by my family dentist who, after examining my 5-year-old daughter and finding a cavity, referred me here since they don't have pediatric anesthetics. According to their website, Bitesize is open on Saturdays from 9am-2pm; but when I called to make an appointment last Saturday I got a recording that says it's only open Monday - Friday. Aside from posting inaccurate information, when I finally get through this morning and explain the situation, I'm told my daughter would need a "consultation" first, and that they couldn't guarantee they'd be able to treat her the same day. I explained that my daughter is very anxious about going to the doctor, so I was hoping to avoid making two visits to spare her (and me) the stressful experience. The gentleman who answered put me on hold to inquire only to come back several minutes later and convey that it was their "policy" to have a consultation first since she was a new patient. It went from not being able to guarantee treatment on the same day as a consultation to refusing to treat her without this futile consultation. My daughter was seen by a board certified dentist who determined she had a cavity. It's not like I called with a subjective belief that she might have a cavity, nor is this major dental surgery. Bitesize could've just as easily requested the doctor's scans or a written referral detailing the findings just like with any other referral, which is pretty common practice in the medical field; but I guess not at Bitesize who likely has this "policy" so it can double bill me and/or my insurance rather than accommodate a little girl who's terrified of doctors. I'll be sure to let my dentist know they should think twice before referring anyone else there!
