I have had my dental work done at North Point Dentistry for several years now. I was forced to find a new dentist when my previous dentist moved his practice. I learned that an old friend was working for Dr. Ortale as a part-time hygienist and she highly endorsed him. With reservation (I don't relish seeing new dentists), I did go to Dr. Ortale and found him and his support staff to be great! My friend since moved on (she got a full time opportunity), and I stayed with Dr. Ortale because of his chair-side manner, his excellent work, and his wonderful staff! I tease with him that I stay because of his playlist! His in-office music has something for EVERYONE and spans decades! Dr. Ortale and his staff are ALWAYS on time. He does see other patients in the office simultaneously but this is well orchestrated and I've found it to be the same with other dentists I've been to. I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for his attention, and he and the staff check in and update you. Dr. Ortale and staff are friendly, professional, and kind. He is very direct about his assessment and your options but I never feel pushed into any decision I've had to make (I have had a few dental procedure challenges due to poor work in the past). Dr Ortale is an excellent, caring and honest dentist. He made my 2 daughters comfortable and ate ease as well as made going to the dentist a fun experience. Dr. Kevin Ortale is the best. Even though I live here in Phoenix, I go back east a couple of times each year to visit family, and while there I see my old dentist. I had tried a couple of dentists here but found them to be dishonest. One of my friends had recommended Dr. Ortale recently, so when I chipped my front tooth I called his office at 2:30 pm and they were able to squeeze me in at 4:00 PM. He did an excellent job on my front tooth, you would never know where it was chipped. Won't be needing my dentist back east now. I have gone to Dr. Ortale for about three or four appointments for various procedures in the last few months. Dr. Ortale is very pushy with what he suggests you get done. I had an appointment to seal a crown and he tried to do four additional fillings in the same appointment that I had not approved. When I did return to get the four fillings competed, he proceeded to do an extra one without asking me or informing me of the addition charge. He has two, sometimes three, patients seated in his office at the same time. He has to bounce back and forth between patients while you are there and that often leads to long appointments with lots of waiting. I think his work seems to be of reasonable skill level. I have had a few problems with his work, but nothing that was too threatening. However, I do not appreciate his lack of empathy for his customers' time and money. read more

Be very sure what you are getting charged for. I got tricked twice, first with me - extra set of xrays were done and when I called back they said insurance company's fault. I checked the particular xray is once a year and they have all my earlier reports. Then again with my wife - I went for normal cleaning, whereas received bill of periodontal maintenance cleaning. They never bothered to tell me while I was there or when they were billing. I only came to know when I received a bill. Here also on checking they said, they have sent the code for normal cleaning but insurance company has changed the code as my wife had a deep cleaning in past. Sure enough insurance company says it was billed like that. I have all documents - chat with insurance company. And recording of Doctor discussion on phone. I did not have a good experience with this dentist. While he appeared friendly at first, he soon proved to be presumptuous, rude and unprofessional. I had two cavities filled and he insinuated to me multiple times that I must drink soda all day, which I don't. In the process of filling the cavities he spent twenty minutes talking over me with a visitor who was standing in the doorway. To me this was disrespectful and invasive. At one point during the procedure he got up and left the room without a word and didn't return for fifteen minutes. The hygienist made apologies until he finally showed back up. Since having the fillings done both teeth haven't stopped hurting. I would not recommend this dentist, but would instead encourage others to find a dentist who has compassion and respect for all of their patients. read more
