I have been a patient here for seven years now and I love them! Everyone is so friendly and an absolute rock star at what they do! They always make me feel so special when I'm there, it's like going to visit good friends. Let me tell you a little bit about my cleaning today. The office staff are so cheerful and friendly they really get your visit off to a great start! As soon as I walked in the door I received a very warm welcome from Justin, who I've known for years: "Lance! I have been a patient at Kevin Sands' office with one of the doctors there, for almost eight years! I originally saw them on TV and curiosity got me to call them to inquire upon insurance acceptance. Before I knew it, I had an appointment! I remember the very day! I was a little wondrous as to how I'd get treated as they have lots of wealthy, clients and celebrities. The level at which I was impressed at their office literally blew my mind. I felt like a ViP, that day and every single visit after that! Justin and Janina are amongst the nicest people I have ever met. During my cleaning, I mentioned that my meter would need to be fed more money as it was set to expire soon. Instead of letting me go, they requested a description of my car and went down to put money in the parking meter! I was just shocked at this point. I was offered a bottled water at a variety of temperatures, or coffee (latte) and a goodie bag with some floss, toothpaste and a nice toothbrush! I have been returning every three months for a cleaning since 2011 and have had other things done as well. Magaly is an amazing hygienist and we have great conversation, each time! I grew up with them and they witnessed major life milestones for me and vice versa! I am a client for life and forever thankful to have found such a great dentist. I visited this office for a cosmetic consultation for my smile ahead of my wedding. I had one particular tooth that I was concerned about. While I sat in the waiting room, I saw a man who appeared to be yelling at his staff about something. I thought surely this couldn't be the doctor yelling at his staff in front of patients. He was wearing super baggy jeans that were nearly falling off him, and he looked disheveled. Imagine my dismay when I found out this was the doctor I was paying $500 out of pocket to see. He was very pushy in my consultation - selling me veneers really hard, and not discussing other options with me until I pressed him. I had had braces growing up and I liked my smile, I was just concerned about the whiteness of one tooth that was damaged when I was a kid. He didn't seem interested in what I wanted and I didn't feel like he approached the consultation from a patient-centric view. He was very abrasive and pushy, saying he had a 4 veneer minimum. When I said I didn't think I wanted 4 veneers and was advocating for other options, he seemed to get really frustrated with me and was accusing me of questioning his judgment. As I was leaving, I was presented with an astronomical quote for 4 veneers from someone on his team who acted like he was selling me a car. "This is what I'm going to do for you... I'm going to knock this fee off and this fee." As someone who was spending six figures on my wedding and was accustomed to paying a lot for beauty treatments, trust me when I say I nearly cried when I saw the price of four veneers through this office. I could've bought a car instead. I was really sad leaving, and upset that I drove nearly 5 hours round trip from San Diego to see this guy. Giving him 2 stars since he didn't actually do a procedure on me. read more

I moved here from Minnesota, leaving my dentist behind, and It was tough to find a good California dentist. I came in extremely nervous because some Doctors have a certain level of experience, and some decisions can be permanent. After a lot of research, I highly recommend this dental office, and I 100% agree that the price is worth it (Insurance helps!). Absolutely horrible. They redid a crown for me March 2020. It was so painful when they placed the permanent one that I was crying - while on laughing gas and numbed - they then made comments asking if I was Irish or Native American laughing that I required more numbing. Likely it was their injection technique was poor and they couldn't find the nerve properly. Then I found out they weren't taking insurance anymore yet they never disclosed this to me. They were billing out of network. Fast forward to the week of Christmas. I'm away from home and the crown pops off. I'm in pain and can't even drink water. Now I get to spend Christmas at an out of network full cost painful appointment due to their negligence. Shady shady shady. This place does poor and painful dental work combined with shady billing. Sept 2021- In addition, my husband who also had a crown done by them had his fall off. Our new dentist told us the crown was poorly made and poorly fitting. Dr Sands team is clearly unable to provide quality restorative work. The crowns were completed by a woman not Dr Sands. So this was not his faulty work but rather the staff he employs to do the regular dental work. That being said, I did do a consult with him for cosmetics (which were not necessary) and he gave the impression he was potentially hungover and possibly high. He kept saying how sexy my teeth would be, and compared the procedure to buying nice jewelry for your face. It was a bit creepy and certainly sleazy feeling. I will say Justin who works there was always very sweet and seemed like he tried his best to make the patients happy. read more

This review is long overdue. Dr. Sands did my veneers in 2006 0r 7. It was so long ago, I forget. He told me they would change my life, and they have 100% changed my life. I was so worried they wouldn't last longer than 10 years, for whatever reason. But here I am, happy to say that they have exceeded my expectations. Getting veneers with Dr. Sands is more than a level up...its multiple levels up. They look like my real teeth but better, so its a natural look. My cross bite has been acting up quite a bit over the past few years, to the point where I have finally started chipping the veneers. This would have happened with my real teeth if the veneers weren't there. It has nothing to do with the veneers, it's a jaw issue. Anyway, when this has happened over the past few years, his team gets me in ASAP to fix them. There have been times when I didn't really have money to fix them, and they fixed them anyway for me. Yes, they just had to cement them back and shape them, but they did not have to do that for me. It was above and beyond. I'm saving up to get my jaw fixed and a new set of veneers, and I would never go anywhere else than to Dr. Sand's office. Even his staff is all still there. There are so many familiar faces in the office and they've been there since the first time I went in back in 2006! That is also unheard of for a medical practice. I can't remember her name, but the female physician who is there has been so good to me. Dr. Sands placed my veneers, but she is now the one I see when I go to the office. Let's be honest, Dr. Sands is a bit of a legend now, and rightfully so. But I still receive the same quality of work as when I first started going to the office, because Dr. Sands has done a great job of hiring exceptional people who deliver his caliber of care and results. I'm a nurse, myself, so I am very familiar with the medical field. Look no further. This is the place. Yes, veneers are expensive but they will be the best investment you've ever made!
