If you have been scrolling through reviews of dentists on the west side of Los Angeles, please look no further than Dr. Wagner. The five-star reviews on Yelp are spot on. I can say this from my own experience with Dr. Wagner. I rarely review a business due to my own busy schedule, but Dr. Wagner and his team deserve a 10-star review, if Yelp ever allows 10 stars instead of 5 max. The point is this dentist is pheromonal and puts all other dentists in town to shame. I had a lot of dental work done as a child and young adult. No dentist ever made me relaxed while I was on the dreaded chair . . . at least until Dr. Wagner. I wish I found him sooner. Dr. Wagner's bedside manner is wonderful. He is a true professional who makes a lot of efforts to connect with his patients. As a professional myself, I know how difficult it is to make time to get to know my clients on a personal level. It can get very time-consuming. We are just so busy with doing our job, so I really appreciate Dr. Wagner for taking time out of his busy practice to actually try to get to know me and ask me how I'm doing in addition to how my teeth are doing. As far as his dental work goes, he is very thorough. I had a cleaning and a filling done today. While I was not able to see what Dr. Wagner was doing inside my mouth, I could feel that he was doing his magic in a super meticulous manner. I really appreciated all the work he did for me today. He cleaned my teeth so thoroughly and never made me feel bad about my teeth, which I thought were in bad shape due to avoiding seeing a dentist during the pandemic. Getting the filling done was a breeze too. I had no pain at all for almost 2 hours I was on the chair. I spent months to try to find a dentist I could trust and read hundreds of reviews on Yelp, Google, and every review or article I could find online because I dreaded seeing a bad dentist. I can not speak highly enough of the care I received from Dr. Wagner and his staff this week. I was wanting to get my teeth professionally whitened prior to heading home for the holidays and Dr. Wagner was able to fit me in with very short notice. After whitening my teeth, I had to return to have my front tooth color corrected (due to previous work to repair a chipped tooth.) Given the sense or urgency, Dr. Wagner fitted me in at the end of the day, removed the discolored composite material, then replaced and shaped with a perfect color match. Dr. Wagner is clearly very thoughtful and thorough; his attention to detail and sense of calmness is the perfect combination! I would highly recommend his services. read more

Dr.Wagner is amazing and his work is impeccable. He is a perfectionist and will deliver beautiful results while considering your overall dental needs. I started working with him a few years ago because I have bruxism and I had severely worn out my teeth. Initially I thought I just needed veneers, but he identified that my gum lines were low and my teeth had a slant, which were likely contributing to me not liking my smile. He laid out all the options for me and referred me to talk to specialists (orthodontist and a periodontist) to fix the slant, allowing me to explore my options before selecting my treatment plan. I don't think most dentists would go this far, especially since getting orthodontic work would delay starting cosmetic dentistry by a couple years at least. But I could tell he just wanted the best results for me. He involved me in every step of the plan and explained everything in detail. My case was challenging because I had extreme sensitivity and I kept breaking the temporary veneers due to severe grinding. But he was so patient and responsive throughout the entire process. In the end I had gum surgery and opted for crowns for all of my upper teeth because of my grinding. It took almost 2 years but I can't be more happy with the results! I get compliments on my teeth all the time and even my dentist friends are in awe at how natural they look! read more

Dr. David Wagner is more than a dedicated dentist. He is an artist and professor of dental photography at UCLA. He did a superb bonding job on my front teeth, which were chipped. I've been excited to write a review of this practice for awhile. BUT I decided to wait until after I got my veneers before doing so. Now I can say officially that this practice is the very best in the whole world...... well it sure is in my opinion. 1) for cleanings- amazing hygienists , super enthused and ebullient. Your time goes by so quick because they keep you entertained or can pick up quickly if you just need to zone out in quiet. Every six months I've come out feeling legitimately more confident and energized to go into the world. Clean, polished teeth are a game changer, that's just how it is in the city of Los Angeles. 2) the two dentists - Dr. David Wagner and Dr. Dan Pinar are not your normal dentists. They are young, handsome, funny men who make you feel at ease( not what dentists are known for.) They are as quick with a smile or joke as they are with explicating very complicated jargon in a very discernible matter of fact way. They create an atmosphere where you feel comfortable , taken care of and informed. The former is a very difficult task and they do this effortlessly and with tact and timing and honest communication . I honestly look forward to the end of my cleanings, just to say hi to the two of them..... NOT KIDDING! 3) my veneers- I cant tell you how much this has changed my life. I broached the idea of getting veneers with Dr. Wagner six months ago casually at an appointment .I've had one veneer since I was quite young and it's not color matched to the rest of my teeth nor did it allow me to whiten my teeth because the veneer would remain yellow . I also had a gap on my left side and my teeth were very uneven with spaces in the gums. Dr. Wagner made me feel very comfortable In elucidating not only what veneers would do for my appearance, but also detailed how the process would go step by step. I went from trepidation to excitement in ten minutes. It was three or four appointments through the process and a stop at a very state of the art laboratory ( maybe the coolest part.) the third appointment was the longest , which was implementing the temporary bonding. However, it was so comfortable that I actually fell asleep, during the procedure...... a little weird I know. Finally, the final veneers went in and I was emotionally overwhelmed. I felt so different, so confident , so sharp! David made them perfect, they have character , they are NOT perfectly straight , one color, one texture, one shape. They ARE art, in the purest form. They convey emotion and warmth, they have a unique white coloring with different shades naturally coalescing into one wonderful smile. They are 100 percent me and my personality manifested in the thing that expresses that most..... my smile I could not be happier to refer David Wagner. I had been going to the same dentist for 30 years. I started going to him right after I graduated from my childhood dentist and college. Unfortunately he retired about 3 years ago and It was recommended that I see Dr. Wagner. I was super lucky and landed with a dentist that I will be going to another 30 years. Actually, they did "miss" something: The tooth that hurt which was the reason I went there in the first place, to seek some relief from the pain of that ONE tooth. That was my particular & only concern AT THAT TIME! i "owned" the state of my dental issues by trying to get them taken care of. Fine if a dentist wants to "move on" to "other issues", but he should first address the problem of immediate concern to me & offer solutions, which he did not. What he "moved on" to was, as I recall, about $8,000.00 worth of crowns, which had never concerned me nor did I have any problems at all with those teeth that he said "needed" crowns. My painful tooth remained as painful when I left as when I arrived, & the dentist didn't discuss that problem tooth with me or even look at it. All things considered, I actually think my one star is one star too many. Incidently, listen carefully & ask questions when you're told they would like to do a series of X- rays at "no charge to you." Then they charge you $135.00 to discuss the X-rays with you, i.e. crowns, which you were never told about beforehand! I believe that's called "bait & switch". Finally, for me, I think my overall appropriate summary is the Latin "Caveat Emptor". In English, that means "Buyer Beware." read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Wagner's for three years now. Was referred to him after years of dentistry and orthodontics but yet a smile that didn't reflect it. After a couple years acclimating to his office it was time to try again... to replace aging veneers. Simply put, Dr. Wagner is a perfectionist. It shows everywhere-- the stylish office, his staff of quality professionals. And his cosmetic dentistry is no exception. He worked tirelessly in explaining his process, presenting options, and taking many, many photographs. Most importantly, he patiently addressed my concerns. He partners with an expert technician/artist who beautifully crafted ten veneers. And when the look/color of one wasn't perfect, he insisted on a re-do (before placement). During the period after old veneer removal but before completion he created temporaries that were both flawless and comfortable. Suffice it to say, this was a great experience!! Loving the new smile and enjoying friends' reactions ("you look great!" but initially don't know why). Dr. Wagner seems really just like everything you would want in a dentist. He is super thorough, smart, gentle, very clear about all your options, and all his advice. I come from a dentist's family and I really like to be able to run everything by my father before i have dental work, and Dr Wagner has always been really great about helping me communicate complicated (or not!) dental jargon to my my dad. He gives you choices for how to proceed with your own care, but also tells you what he would do if it were his teeth. (which are beautiful, like a dentist's should be!) And i really like that he takes pictures in addition to x rays. Very useful in decision making. Great office, both Dentists. The waiting room is beautiful and clean, friendly front desk staff that can easily help you with all your insurance questions. I have never, ever liked going to the dentist, especially to have my teeth cleaned. But I no longer dread it since I have started going to see Dr Wagner and his team. Dr. Wagner makes you feel comfortable as soon as you sit down in the chair and listens to your concerns. He then tells you what each step is and checks in with you throughout the whole process. Dr. Wagner works in the same office as Dr. Eric Videgain who has been my family's dentist since I was a in elementary school. Together with Dr. Samuel, their office, Santa Monica Dentists, comprises of three dentists who, in my critical opinion, are complete all-stars. And, every once in a while, when I come in for a cleaning I see Dr. Wagner (who I hold in equally high regard). First of all, you know there's something truly special about a business when every member of the staff enjoys coming to work every day and authentically remarks how blessed they feel to serve alongside a high quality group of professionals whose positivity, passion and skill are only out-shined by how great they are as people. Second, words cannot describe the higher standard of care, quality, and professionalism you'll receive by choosing these guys. When you walk out of their office, your day will feel brighter. You'll count your own blessings to have such great care providers and people in your life. I'm actually excited to visit for cleanings because it feels like returning to a family-community every six months. They genuinely care about you and you will genuinely care about them. Lastly, it's very hard for me to articulate how wonderful these guys are because their service simply exceeds what you'd expect of a dental office. It wouldn't be right to call it customer service, because it feels more like family service. A lot of Yelpers post reviews claiming that their dentist is the best but they don't really have any measure of comparison. I went to Dr. Wagner today and smelled my own tooth smoke as he drilled holes in my teeth, but when I considered freaking out he calmed me as steadily as a vet treating an anxious dog. That might sound strange, but I have seen too many medical professionals fail at reassuring patents in the simple way my vet does, with soft words and "good job"s. I can't recommend this dentist (or his assistants) enough. Anne, who does my cleanings, is also gentle and extremely nice. The blond receptionist is the nicest front desk person ever! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Wagner. He has really changed my mind about what your experience at the dentist should be like. I've been to a lot of dentists throughout the years, some great and some not so great, but Dr. Wagner stands out in a league of his own. He is extremely knowledgeable and good at his job while also being incredibly kind - an attribute that makes all the difference in dentistry. I get a bit anxious before dental work, but he really helps to calm my nerves and make me feel comfortable. The assistant was also good at what she does, but not quite as cognizant of the patient's needs. She sometimes pinches my lip in between her instrument and my teeth, and occasionally smooshes my nose with her orange deflector paddle... but it's completely worth it to be in Dr. Wagner's care. Ok I have to admit the dentist has not always been my favorite place to visit. I hadn't seen a dentist in awhile and I was semi nervous and it took some time for me to decide to come in. By far the best experience from the lovely people working the front desk to the assistant to the hygienist it was the absolute BEST experience I could have as a new patient. They were all very friendly and answered any questions I had, they were all smiles which really showed me they genuinely enjoyed their team. I had a cleaning then I came back for a filling and I have had a few fillings in the past and it was always a big fear of mine but David Wagner is the BOMB. I didn't feel a thing a little prick here and there but nothing even near bad. Also I wasn't left drooling on myself at all! I had experiences in the past where my whole face is numb but I feel them drilling still... no bueno. David Wagner is super nice and kept me informed with what he was doing the whole time. I had a situation with my insurance and I had to rush to get an appointment, I called super last minute and explained my situation to his front desk, (Cute nice little Filipino lady) She totally helped me out and squeezed me in the next day. The office is modern, super clean, but somehow not overly clinical. All his staff are super personable and friendly. The dental hygienist or his assistant was very nice and even remembered little things about me from my last visit which was like a year previous. Dr. Wagner is the nicest guy, he's super enthusiastic about his job and takes his time to explain to you everything that he's doing and is very gentle. I even noticed the way he speaks to his staff is very polite and kind. All around theres really good energy in this office. Pricing is standard, and straightforward. Fortunately, there is free and metered street parking right there as well. Awesome! - Every person that works at the office is friendly, nice, and genuinely seems happy to have you as a client. They really try to remember your name, family, job, details about your life, etc. - Making an appointment is easy (though they do get booked up in advance so they don't always have exact times you may want). If they don't have the time you want immediately, they will call you if it opens up. - I've had two different technicians clean my teeth (they try to keep you with the same person so you can have a relationship with him/her). Both have been good, efficient but gentle, and super friendly through out the process. - Dr. Wagner is an awesome guy. He clearly knows his stuff, but isn't "stuck up" about it. He is gentle on your teeth (or at least as much as can be at the dentist!) and doesn't just jam right in there. He is also super nice and sociable. He seems to take a genuine interest in his patients. Fortunately I haven't had any issues with my teeth, but if I do, I know he'll keep me calm and take good care of me. I left a practice where the actual dentist cleans your teeth and does the whole process to see David and I'm thrilled I did (and I liked my last dentist!). I moved to Seattle, WA in July 2013 and I still schedule my dentist appointments with Santa Monica Dentists and Dr. Wagner. I get to see the sun AND an awesome dentist when I'm in LA. read more

David Wagner is, by far, THE BEST dentist I've ever had. He has the most amazing bedside manner, takes time to answer all questions and explains what he is doing during each procedure. He also is excellent at checking in after a procedure to make sure there's no other issues coming up. I've been to so many dentists over the years and none have come close to the compassion and professionalism and commitment to quality work as David Wagner. I've since moved to the SF Bay Area and have not found any dentist even close to David Wagner. read more

This office is incredible!! Over the years I've seen Dr. Samuel but I recently had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Wagner. He is fantastic! He is so gentle and friendly. I grind my teeth and needed to get my teeth filed down. Instead of making a separate appointment to come back in, he did it right then- so easy, no pain and saved me a trip. It's obvious he loves what he does and is on top of the latest technology. My husband is British and let's just say his teeth were never a priority. He finally went to see Dr. Wagner (after years of nagging) and was singing Dr. Wagner's praises all day. He actually said, "What a great lad! If I knew it was that easy I wouldn't have waited so long". I owe you Dr. Wagner! HA! Thank you so much Dr. Wagner and the whole team! read more
