We were in contact for about 2 months as we worked through the process. 6 weeks after I paid, they raised my homeowners insurance rate by $96. We had no claims and no changes. I was notified by a bill (no phone call or email explanation) that simply said "policy change". I called and was told an inspector had changed my home type to 2-story (it is not) and she (another agent in the office) can appeal the decision. I'm disappointed that the agent didn't review or question the inspector's report prior to the change which was wrong. Additionally the inspector reported a different roof shingle and the agent claimed I told her the wrong shingle type. I do not recall a shingle discussion but I am confident I didn't quote a shingle type as I don't know anything about shingles. The months we worked on this quote would have been the correct time to verify any issues, not after I pay and leave my old insurance company of 20 years. I expressed disappointment that I'm using a local agent rather than an online company and was hoping to have better service and a relationship. I asked that she think about what could be done different so that an issue like this doesn't happen again. Her reply was that she would let me know what would happen with the appeal. No apologies were given and no reassurance that my future experience with them would be better. I opened the door and gave them the opportunity to show me some good customer service and empathy for the situation and they did not. People and businesses make mistakes and things happen, but the true test is how it is handled afterward.

When I have called the office even at odd hours, they have always got back to me in a very reasonable amount of time.... I have had multiple policies to include my classic cars, and multiple homes that other companies would not touch... Jon said, it would not be a problem... Every year I receive a call approximately 2 times a year from either Jon or his assistant, to see if there are any other ways that my coverage can be improved, on several occasions lowered my rates... Prior to working with Allstate, I worked with 2 other companies that I won't name but, I thought were reasonable, or so I thought, When I received a ticket for a burnt out tail light which for some reason showed up on my record as running a light... they wanted to almost triple my Rates...I then spoke with Allstate who offered me a rate even lower than I had even had before the incident... When it came time for renewal of our policy, we naturally shopped around and found that this agency was charging us about 50% more than most other providers for the same coverage. When I contacted the agent to see if we could work on pricing, he curtly replied that the only way to do so would be to get lesser coverage. Accordingly, my wife and I decided to switch to another provider and, upon informing the agent of our intention to switch and request that he cancel our auto-payments and let us know what all we would need to do, he dropped all contact with us. Like, seriously, I'm pretty sure he just fell off the face of the earth. The agency would no longer return our phone calls, wouldn't respond to our emails, and was uncontactable through the app. The only way I knew they were still in business was that we still got their stupid advertisement emails on an almost daily basis. I eventually had to contact Allstate's corporate office (which took me about an hour to find a way to do, because they want you to work through your agent) in order to get everything taken care of. DO NOT choose this agency. They are unprofessional and rude and really need to work on not getting butt hurt when you decide to switch companies due to their ridiculous prices.
