I used to love this place. He would enthusiastically talk about the details of what he saw and what he needed to do. This time, I had a brake noise. He said it might be up to $920. Then he called back quickly and said yes, it will be $920. I don't think he even inspected each of the brakes. Afterwards, he wouldn't talk to me about the repair at all. Check engine light came on. Ran the code with a scanner at Autozone and it said thermostat out. Called different places at Kevork's / Kevin's stated they do diagnostics for free. That is the only good thing about this place. Took my car in. They laughed at the report I gave them saying it was my thermostat because "Autozone are parts people, they don't know anything." Bruh.. It's a scanner. I'M the one who ran the code, soooo. And sure they're not 100% and might misdiagnose, but it's pretty objective. They take a look at it and lo and behold, the issue was my thermostat. (Thank you for not charging me for what I ALREADY knew). Asked them for a quote. They said they needed time to give me one. Gave them my license plate, VIN, make/model/year, everything. They never called me to give me a quote. Called back multiple times over the course of 2-3 weeks. They had an excuse every single time why they couldn't give me a quote yet. Just kept delaying and delaying. Like bruh if there's an issue with my thermostat and it overheats, I can't drive the damn car. It needs to be fixed ASAP. This is the absolute slowest mechanic to exist on the planet. You might get your car fixed in a year if it takes almost a month just to get a QUOTE! Don't go here except to get a free diagnostic and then go elsewhere for the service! read more

I have a mechanic I trust my life with in Southern California, but one of my fears is that I'd need to find an honest mechanic when I'm out of town. Well that fear came to fruition when my A/C started blowing not-as-cold-as-usual air. With temperatures starting to really pick up, I wanted this fixed ASAP. I originally went to a different mechanic at 8am, but they told me they were booked solid for the next week, so I saw that Kevork's also had great reviews, so I called them, and they were able to squeeze me in today. So I dropped off my car at about 9am, then at about 11am, Kevin (I think the owner/manager) told me that I had a slight leak in an a/c valve and that I'd need to recharge my refrigerant as well. Pretty much exactly what I expected, and I was glad he didn't say something ridiculous like I needed to replace my entire a/c compressor or something like that. Kevin was very detailed and thorough about exactly what the problem was and the price he quoted me was very reasonable so I OKd the repairs. Then at about 2.30 he called me and told me everything's good to go. And now I'm home from the shop, with my ice-cold-again A/C accompanying me on my drive. Couldn't have gone better, and now I have a mechanic I can turn to near my home and also up here in Portland! read more

My husband and I have always taken our cars into Kevork's whenever we need something done because Kevin is always REALLY nice and takes the time to explain everything, and their prices are always fair. Also, they are good people to do business with. FOR EXAMPLE: The other day I called because I had the "check engine" light on in my car. I thought I'd have to make an appointment to bring it in, but they told me to drop in whenever and they could diagnose the problem in under 5 min. I brought it in 30min after I called; Kevin diagnosed and fixed the problem for me in exactly 5 minutes: I hadn't gotten my oil changed in too long and my car was running low on oil (I KNOW-- I'm not very responsible about taking care of my car, I am bad and unworthy of my sweet, innocent conveyance). Anyway, Kevin put enough oil in to get the check engine light off and charged me $0 for this insta-fix and just advised me to bring it in for a proper oil/filter change. I was like, "Please let me pay you" (shame filling my soul -- how could I let the oil get so low my engine valves were misfiring?! I'm a monster). And Kevin was like, "Nah." He's a good guy. I resolved to get my oil changed at Kevork's, but my roommate is really into cars and insisted on teaching me to change my own car oil like an adult person with life skills. I went to AutoZone for the first time in my 33 years of life and it was wild. Did you know you can CARE for your car like a cherished pet?! Long story short: Kevork's is a good place to go take your car. Kevin will treat you fairly and won't judge you if you are a bad car owner. I have been going to Kevin for a few years now to service my Honda CRV. Recently a problem arose where the car's acceleration would drop off at around 3000 RPM, leaving me unable to accelerate quickly or go more than 60 MPH. Despite being down multiple employees and being busier than usual, Kevin diagnosed the problem within the week and had the car running smoothly. He and his staff were very responsive throughout the process. These guys have been so close to my home for, like, 23 years. Why did I not go to them until just recently? I think because they look like just another gas station that does repairs. But I read many very positive Yelp reviews about them (thanks!), so I went there to have them check the brakes on the car I am selling, which they assured me are fine. I have spoken to the service manager, Kevin Cummings, twice since then, getting advice on the reliability of the cars I would like to buy and other gems of wisdom. Kevin is charming... in a good way. He seems genuinely earnest, honest and happy to help, as well as knowledgeable. I am planning to get a used Infinity, and he was honest in saying that they would be able to do most repairs, but any very specialized work might have to go to the Infinity dealer. I appreciate all the info he has given me upfront so that I know what I am getting into. And sheepish as I feel about it, I have yet to pay them a cent. Had to drop our old Isuzu off at Kervorks late one night as it was overheating. Called Kervorks the next day and they took a look at it right away. The radiator was bad, but they tried everything they could to get it working well enough so I could drive it home.. They suggested a $10 radiator cap would help and it did... Honest and fair! Kevorks, and specifically Kevin, treated us so well. We were traveling from out of state when our camper van bit the dust, leaving us in quite the pickle. Kevorks was the only shop in Portland who 1) answered the phone and was willing to talk with us and 2) worked hard to get us in quickly. Because of the large size of our vehicle they weren't able to complete the extensive repairs needed but they were able to get it running so that we could drive it to another location. Kevin's shop was recommended to me as a fast, affordable, and reliable service shop for my vehicles, and that has been my experience.

Kevin came highly recommended by the transmission shop that overhauled the transmission on my van a couple years ago when I needed some fuel-related work done. As a result, I've taken my van to Kevork's three times now. This most recent visit was for the check engine light. There are a couple of things that "could" be causing it, but nothing solid. Many shops would just order parts, necessary or not, do the work, and charge for it, whether it actually fixed the problem or not. This has not been my experience. Kevin has always taken the time to explain the options, choices, possible outcomes, and make recommendations that are best for the me. In this case, it meant doing no repairs at all, monitoring the van (it drives great) and then assess later if any issues arise. You want honest and friendly service? Do not bring your car here, esp if you own a BMW. It took us 4 trips to fix a headlight... The owner said it was the bulb, and then the fuse and then the control module that was faulty. We were charged $800 in total. Owner refused to take responsibility for not making a proper diagnosis that caused us lots of inconvenience, persisted to charge us labor cost for each time the car was in the shop. The sign that states the shop specializes in BMW cars should be removed as they are not what they claimed to be. read more

I have been using Kevork's Auto Care since I moved to Portland 10 years ago. They have worked on all of my cars over the years and always do a great job.... The manager Kevin is great to work with and always seems to be able to work me in find me good prices on the parts and is fair with his pricing... I had to right this post because I was recently driving my wife's Volvo to replace some light bulbs. For the life of me I could not get one of them out. I called Kevin and he offered to help me free of charge. When I got it over there (10 minutes later) he came running out and we found out the bulb was completely rusted in and there wasn't anything we could do without replacing the housing.
