My alternator conked out on a Sunday afternoon, and AAA recommended this shop in the area. I have recently moved to the area and have not found a shop yet, so I hoped this would be a good experience and I could start using Middleton. The after hours drop off and pick up is seamless and really easy, which I appreciated. They charged $300 to diagnose, which seemed high, but I didn't want to tow my car to another shop, so I accepted that. They got my car back to me five days later, and the alternator worked great but a dash light had come on for a bulb which was not burned out. I replaced the bulb but the light persisted. I asked the shop about looking at it, and I was advised well, we'll run some tests, which sounded to me like another $300 diagnosis. So, the alternator repair was good, but now I have a permanent dash light on until I can find a shop to take it to. All in all, I'd say they are an OK shop. read more

I called Middleton to request a quote for a full synthetic oil change on a 2025 Subaru Outback with 3,000 miles on it. The gentleman at the desk informed me that the price could vary between $80 and $130. When he said that, I assumed he didn't hear me correctly, so I repeated my request. Again, he told me the price could vary between $80 and $130. At that point, I asked to speak with an employee who actually works on cars so I could ask about why I couldn't get a solid quote on a simple oil change. The person on the phone said, "Oh, they're in the back and can't come to the phone." At that point, I told him thanks for his time and hung up. I called three other shops in the immediate area who were happy to provide a solid quote for my oil change, no problem. In my opinion, this establishment is out to separate their customers from as much of their cash as possible. I would definitely not recommend this shop. read more

This is our neighborhood shop and, though we haven't had our cars serviced here in a couple of years, I did call a few weeks ago to describe some car trouble and get an estimate on the repairs. Jake suggested I try a cheap, straightforward diy fix first to see if that would solve anything and IT DID. Personally, based on my solid one star highly negative experience with this place, I find these other reviews to be highly suspect. Contacted these characters to find out about having oil changes and other routine maintenance done on my soon-to-be-delivered car. What I got was unresponsive replies from some clod who clearly has serious reading comprehension skills. After several unfulfilling exchanges I assumed that my best plan would be to listen to that little voice in my ear telling me to avoid these people at all costs so that's what I did. Out of fairness that this business clearly did NOT earn, I did give them one last opportunity to just answer the question I asked. They declined to do so. Usually Yelpers can depend on the quality of reviews posted here and I generally take 36 five star reviews and only one 1 star review to be a very good sign that this would be a great business to work with. But look a little deeper if you plan to actually turn the keys of your car over to these guys. Many of the posted reviews for this business reek of being paid shills. Of course I could be wrong but I suppose I will never find out because after the way I was treated just trying to get a quote there is zero chance I will ever become a customer. YMMV. read more

I have always taken our Toyota Highlander to the dealership for maintenance and repairs, but when I noticed a burned-out headlamp recently I knew they would charge an arm and a leg to replace and there would be a long wait involved. I called and spoke to Jake at Middleton Motors, he got right back to me with a very reasonable estimate, then got me in the next day for the replacement. They completed the work much faster than promised, and he's getting together an estimate for me on some other non-urgent work. I've found a great locally-owned auto shop that I can trust to not over-sell and over-price work I need done in the future! I'm happy to support local businesses and this is a great one! I was having a problem with my headlights and a friend recommended Middleton Motors. I'm so glad they did! They were professional, responsive, trustworthy and gave clear communication. Nothing shady, no hidden fees. They told me what they recommended and what it would cost to get my approval before they started the work. There were two possible causes of the problem, one was significantly more affordable to fix than the other. They prioritized the cheaper fix and stopped there when that option did the trick. I'm very cynical when it comes to car mechanics but Middleton Motors definitely won my trust. I'll be back. One note--they do charge an hourly rate, which includes the inspection. To me, that's totally worth it since the inspection is honest and thorough. Plus their policy of reviewing recommended next steps with you and getting your approval before starting the work makes the whole experience feel safe and reliable. read more

Called and was quoted $140 to assess a simple problem, as in, not repair but simply to look at. I understand people can't work for free but damn, that's quite the markup. No way I was going to drop that kind of money and risk the potential of the repair not even being completed. Had to wait almost a week but got into another shop that fixed the issue for a whopping total of $50 (with no exorbitant fees attached to "assess"). read more

Not only was the work finished quickly but it was done flawlessly and exactly what I envisioned. It actually looks like it is factory and one would have no idea it was after market. I had brought in a rough running tacoma and they did a tuneup on it. Came out running a lot better. Price and timeliness was reasonable. We had 3 people look at his car and they had no idea what was going on with it. One of them swore it was possessed. We were forced to find car priests. Their office is waaaaay too clean and nice to be a car shop. The owner and staff are super nice. Their diagnosis fee is $89 / hour, which scared me. I thought it would be 2+ hours. We were pleasantly surprised when we got a call and it was totally reasonable. We got a bag of M&Ms on our way out, too. M&M's...nice. read more

First off, please understand Middleton Motors Hillsboro is under new management! Tim was the previous owner with whom we had excellent experiences in the past few years. They are now under new management with a new owner and service manager. In March I drove a GMC pickup to Middleton's to be inspected (only). I knew the front brakes worked fine and the back ones needed work. When we dropped off the truck we informed Middleton's the brakes were not good. A few days later the inspection was complete and the vehicle was ready for pick up. We paid the invoice and were ready to take it home when the service manager informed me the brakes were not good and he would not "allow" me to drive it off the property but I had to tow it out. We already knew the brakes weren't good as we informed them. He refused to give me the keys to the truck. The exchange was unprofessional, still refusing to give me the keys. I left and my wife went into the office to try and reason with them and was met with the same outburst by the service manager and the receptionist this time. They both continued to yell, make accusations and refused to turn over the keys. My wife explained to him he had no legal right to hold the vehicle and we had told them about the brakes upfront. Our Team Leader later contacted Middleton's and we were told they would turn over the keys to us and we were to go pick up the truck. The next day we called and spoke to the service manager. We told him we would arrive that day to pick up the truck and he assumed we were going to tow it out. We said no, we were going to drive it out. He again said he would refuse to turn over the keys unless we towed it out and IF we tried to come pick it up he would call the police! In hindsight, I should have called the police for holding the vehicle as it did not belong to them and the bill had been paid. This business is no longer the same and we DO NOT recommend doing business with them. The invoice was paid and Middleton's had no legal authority to keep the vehicle from us. If they were concerned about their liability they could simply request a customer sign a "Release of Liability". Wouldn't recommend doing business when they refuse to turn over your vehicle once you've paid the bill! read more

They had our vehicle done within a very reasonable time and explained everything very clearly to us so that I knew we weren't getting ripped off (we had a bad experience with a different place awhile back). Even 5 stars doesn't do Middleton Motors justice! My 2008 Toyota Scion tC was recalled because of excessive oil consumption. I went to Toyota Wilsonville - Service for the excessive oil consumption test and repair. They told me that they found a pretty bad leak and that I need to reseal my timing cover before they could proceed with the repairs, and also to replace my serpentine belt since it's worn/cracked. They quoted me $1,075. Not being a fool, I took my car to Middleton Motors. They quoted me $778 for both the timing cover and serpentine belt. Tim, the President, called me to tell me he doesn't agree with the dealership's diagnosis. He said the oil leak was coming from the valve cover gasket, not the timing cover. Also, he didn't see any cracks in the serpentine belt. Tim repaired/replaced the valve cover gasket and cleaned my car for just over $150!! My husband and I thought we were going to put a massive dent into our savings account, but thank God for financial blessings and honest people at Middleton Motors! Tim could've easily just charged me $778 for the repairs and I wouldn't have known any better, but Tim is a man of integrity. I am utterly grateful. Tim stayed in touch with me via phone calls during the process, and clearly explained to me what my car truly needed and why. Also, he told me I can just take care of my serpentine belt when I get my water pump fixed sometime down the road since the belt needs to be removed to get to the water pump anyway, so there's no use in me paying for the labor twice when I can just pay for it once when the time comes to repair/replace the water pump. Wow! Can you say "honest mechanic"?! I dropped my car off at the end of the business day on Wednesday and picked it up on Friday. Talk about fast service. I took my car back to Toyota Wilsonville and just told them I got the oil leak fixed without disclosing any details. Sure enough, they were able to proceed with the oil consumption test and repairs under the enhanced warranty due to the recall. Yet, they wanted to do $1,000 worth of repairs in order to move forward and they would've been fixing something that didn't need to be fixed. I am now a forever customer with Middleton Motors. They gave me a delightfully cute bag of black and white M&Ms after I checked out (M&M - Middleton Motors, get it?!). ;) I praised the Lord all the way home from Middleton Motors and I want to tell all my friends, family, and Yelp! community about them! Thank goodness this place was open! It was the weekend after Thanksgiving and my car was making super weird noises. I called at least 6 or 7 other auto shops in the Hillsboro area. They were either closed or didn't have open appointments until next week and I had to drive back to SE Portland Sunday morning. My boyfriend called Middleton and asked if they were open. Yay! Open Saturdays and not taking a long weekend for the holiday. All I can say is I was thoroughly embarrassed when the mechanic pulled a stick/twig out from under my car; that was the source of the noise. I really don't know anything about cars. He seemed really nice and had me drive him around so he could hear the noise I was talking about. Also this little problem was free of charge. Sure it took like 5 minutes to figure out, but I was pretty thankful as I'm sure most places might charge you a service/labor fee. I'll come back here when I have any real problems with my car. This is an outstanding shop. My car completely stopped working on a Saturday. My usual mechanic was closed. I had no idea what was going on. I called and they got me in right away. They couldn't duplicate the problem. Instead of sending me home hoping it didn't happen again they kept my car and continued to try to figure it out. I brought my car here a couple weeks ago after the alternator died on me. After shopping around, I was referred to Middleton Motors and spoke with Jason over the phone. After giving him some information about my car, he told me he would call me back with a quote. I continued to call around and was quoted by several other mechanics a price of around $575-600 and this was not including testing and other fees. So when I received a call back from Jason and he quoted me $495, I quickly agreed and we scheduled an appointment for about a week out. He also told me to feel free to drop the car off at an earlier time and if he had time to work on it throughout the week, he would. I dropped my car off the next day, and within a few days I received a phone call from Jason basically keeping me updated which I really appreciated. In the end, I was able to pick up my car on Tuesday which is when my original appointment was actually scheduled so that was awesome! Also, the price of $495 included testing, shipping, parts, and labor! I was blown away by how easy it was to talk to Jason, how transparent he was about the price, and how helpful he had been throughout the entire process! These guys rock!!! If Middleton was in Seattle they would be my default mechanics on all my cars Yelp does not have a high enough rating for this shop. (sorry for long winded review but it is well deserved vs a "yup good" So here is the situation: I was driving back from Cannon Beach to Portland in a 1990 Defender 110, when i started to lose speed. I was able to make if off the hwy and into the local Fred Meyer parking lot. As i poked around under the hood it became apparent that i had either a high pressure fuel leak (2.5T diesel engine) or a clogged injector I called Middleton after I couldn't fix it in the parking lot late on a Saturday. They told me to bring it on in. When they did a quick look they realized it 'going to be fixed that day, They helped me find a way to get to Portland and ultimately back to my home in Seattle (above and beyond in customer service here) Come Monday i received an update call on the truck and that the part wasn't available in the states, so Middleton and I both set off trying to source parts. We were able to find them in England custom made... which meant a lead time of a few weeks. Middleton motors worked with me to keep the truck there, and secure during the wait period. Once the part came in, they quickly changed it, ran some tests and let me know it was good to go. They showed their flexibility again while I worked to get back to down to pick up my Defender. When I arrived the truck was ready to go (pre-shop opening for the day) and we were able to quickly settle up the tab. I have shorten the timeline for reading purposes but realize this took about four weeks from failure to me picking up the truck to take home, the bill was WAY beyond fair for the undertaking and holding of my Defender. There's a reason the reviews are good. And this time, they lived up to their reputation. Thought we had a bad problem with my son's car two days before leaving to college. I explained, they said bring it in, let's at least look at it. They did and gave me likely worse case. $1000. We left it with them to fix. The next morning, it was an easy fix. $65.00. I'm sure most auto repair shops would do the same, but I know that Middleton did it, and understood our time restrictions. Looks nothing like a repair shop from outside, extremely clean on the inside (their restroom is even cleaner than mine back home). Not expecting much different we came to Middleton Motors and met with Tim and Mark and were instantly blown away. We knew there was something seriously wrong with our car and the low ball estimates from other shops were killing us because we knew they weren't realistic. Middleton provided us with an honest assessment of our vehicle with worst case scenarios and then ranked the repairs in order of importance along with an idea of about how long we could space out the repairs or get away with not fixing it before it became a bigger problem. We were able to set our budget knowing that they were not using any bait and switch methods for once they got "under the hood.". When the repairs were done the car worked great and to our surprise it actually cost a little less than they had estimated! It's tough to find a good mechanic you can trust these days. We've had both cars worked on in the last year and whether it was a simple oil change to something complex like having a manual shifter come undone, Tim and team came through every time. Last week the Honda that blew a radiator hose about a mile or two from the shop. Tim was there in no time with water to turn it around and get it on the rack. Though it was at closing, we had plans for the next day and even more pleased to have received a call the next morning to pick it up, fixed and running like before.
