The service was excellent and the price was reasonable. Water was trapped in my car door and came flooding out. They cleaned it out, checked the other doors, and the price was less than $73. Unfortunately our transmission went out on our 2005 Xterra and we were undecided if we should attempt to fix it. I wanted to find a way in verifying the mechanical issue. My husband found Jeremy at Tigard Auto a few years ago when looking for good place for general car maintenance. Last year we began having a complicated issue with our catalytic converter. It could have been a complete nightmare but not only did Jeremy patiently listened to us but also diligently worked to find a solution, seeking advice from his suppliers and dealerships. Timeliness of service - 5 stars Customer service - 0 stars (Jeremy alone) This is going to be a long review because I like to be factual and thorough. It's never fun writing a negative review, but I feel this is necessary. I was calling around to locate a mechanic. I knew what I needed because I'd taken my truck to Auto Zone and the computer diagnostics showed as an oxygen sensor. It even specified which needed done. I knew this was going to be about $400 because the part showed as $200. Tigard Auto was the third place on my call sheet. I'd by-passed the first two because they were going to force me to get a full diagnostics because "we can't accept Auto Zone's...". Queue my call to Tigard Auto. To be cordial, I mentioned that I loved cars and that my daddy had taught me about them and that I used to help him...(you get the idea). Jeremy's reaction was startling. He actually got defensive and then started quizzing me - "If your car started to backfire would you automatically assume it was the sparkplugs?" After a second trying to determine if he was joking around, I replied, "Yes." "Wrong. It could be...". He then made some strange comments about how he could just do a quick fix, but that without a diagnostics, he couldn't guarantee that it would turn off the check engine light. I told him that I'd hope he wouldn't try to cheat me. He agreed he would never do that. After he went on for a bit, I asked when he could get my truck in and he told me Monday. I asked if I could drop it off at 8 a.m.. He stated that would be okay. Monday arrives and my husband and I take the truck into the shop. The young man that greeted us was very friendly, which gave me hope that I hadn't made a horrible mistake. Strangely, the young man stated that my appointment wasn't on the book. I told him of my conversation with Jeremy and that I'd be coming back at around 5:15 to pick it up since I own a daycare and had specifically asked my last parent to arrive at 5. The shop shows that it closes at 5:30. The young man then said that Jeremy may want to leave early to pick up his child from daycare. I asked if my arriving at 5:15 would be a problem, since, again, they close at 5:30. He assured me that it shouldn't be an issue. At around 11:30, Jeremy calls. He asked if I was the person with the Tacoma that he'd spoken to the week before. I told him yes, on Saturday, to which he replied, rather brusquely, "We're closed on Saturday." So, I said, "Then it was Friday". He then said, "And I told you that you could bring it in today?" I was getting a little nervous at this point that he wasn't going to be fixing my truck after all. I replied that he had told me that I could and then he said, "Well the quote I gave you was wrong. It's going to be $500." I don't know what his intention was declaring this so rudely, but I simply replied, "I expected as much, since the repair is $400, which is your original quote, and I decided to get the diagnostics, which you stated would be $98." My daughter went with me to collect the truck. We arrived at 5:08. We pulled in and my truck was nowhere to be seen. Further back on the lot was an old truck, revving its engine. I quipped to my daughter as we walked in, "watch and see. He'll come out all smiles with great customer service". He did have a smile on his face, but it was one of those that was kind of terrifying. Huge, all teeth, no smile in his eyes. He told me that he'd pulled my truck into the bay and went to collect it, which he did, squealing the tires as he pulled it up front. My daughter said later that she was holding back going off on him because of how rude he was, and how rude and condescending he'd been to that point. Then asked again why I'd brought the truck to them. I again explained that I needed it fixed and Tigard Auto had good reviews and was available in a good time frame; that I couldn't take Jeremy's bad manners personally. I was seriously rethinking all of that though when he came strolling in again. He slammed my keys onto the counter, which made me jump. I handed him my credit card and he made a comment about how he was going to need to charge me a fee for using it unless I had a debit card. I simply replied that I didn't have $500 in my account. I signed the invoice, collected the keys, and headed out. My daughter left the lot ahead of me in the truck. I had to walk across the parking lot to get into my car. As I was getting ready to pull out, I heard the old truck revving its engine again, and then watched as it pulled out super fast, spinning it's wheels loudly as if the driver were playing a scene from Fast and Furious. It was startling. Overall, I'm glad that my truck was fixed (I hope) but in future, I won't be returning to this shop. I know that it won't be a loss to them, but I simply cannot fathom how Jeremy can be so rude and condescending to someone who he had never met prior and had done nothing to warrant the behavior. My normal mechanic didn't want to look at the 1988 F250 I had just bought. But a quick google search told me this shop was the right one to take it to. Basically I just wanted them to look at it and tell me about any necessary repairs. They called me back to tell me that they found a few critical fixes but also that at some point during their assessment the truck wouldn't start. Jeremy told me that there was a lot of wiring issues but he had a plan to fix it. I knew they had time already invested in this and it was going to cost me some additional hourly but I just wanted it fixed. In the end Jeremy called me to say his plan was not going to work because it was more complicated than he anticipated. I can appreciate when a guy admits he's over his skis and I think he wanted to keep me from dropping more money. But bottom line is I drove it into their shop and had it towed out. Beyond frustrated that they washed their hands of it after they made it non-operational and I still had to pay them $200. Wish they would have tried harder and lived up to the amazing reviews that led me to them in the first place. Expensive lesson. read more

He told me he could fix it, but I'd be back in his shop in a few months with another problem, and then back again later with another problem. He suggested we take the van out to pasture and move one. Really!?! He turned away my business and future money because he'd rather run an honest business, than to take my money knowing I'd be back with more issues. Who does that anymore?
