This review is specifically for the cafe. Went here during my visit to Seattle to meet a friend over coffee as it showed up as nearby cafe place on google search . We ordered cappuccino which was good . For the kids we got chocolate croissant , chocolate donut and a chocolate cake . My kids like chocolate flavor a lot but they just couldn't finish these desserts . I tried it when they didn't want to eat and I didn't like it as well . Ambience is good though and the servers at the cafe were nice . Stars for the ambience and the cafe staff .

I came here for the Postal Service/Deathcab exhibit, and it was incredible! There was also a really fun, inclusive party going on complete with themed drinks! I don't really listen to the station, but I was so impressed by the beautiful space and the friendly faces. Definitely stop in for an event!

KEXP FM is a Non-Profit, listener supported station located in Seattle Center. Their Tagline is "KEXP's mission is to enrich your life by championing music and discovery". Starting back in the early 70's as a student and volunteer run station. It's grown but that core doesn't seem to have changed much. I tune the dial to 90.3 as on my commute and some legit independent or otherwise not well-known tunes come on from all sorts of rock to reggae and blues and more. The actual site of KEXP is a large hall of sorts where you can hang out, grab a drink or snack from the cafe and listen to the actual broadcast. You can even view the DJ's in the broadcast booth doing their thing. There is a small store selling vinyl of various artists as well KEXP is pretty cool and contributing to community arts I think is a good thing. Drop in and give a listen or tune to 90.3 FM.

Super cool atmosphere! I was in awe of how much fit into the space without feeling cramped. A coffee bar, record shop, and live music stage?! This is hipster on another level! If I lived around here, I'd want to hang out at KEXP all the time. I visited just before closing today, so sadly didn't get to sit and chill, but would definitely recommend if you're looking for fun, approachable arts and culture activities in the city.

I love listening to KEXP and getting to see their communal space at Seattle Center is fun. It's like a big cafeteria space so the decor itself isn't that great, but it is functional and gets plenty of use.

Great place to chill and hangout with your friends and family! It is also huge inside!! You can also seat comfortably with their leather sofa and high back chase!! There is also a gallery towards the back, where you will view up and coming local artist! Concerts are played here so make sure to check their schedules. They are located right in the heart of Seattle City Center, right next to the fountain. They have three clear glass garage door, overlooking the courtyard and on a nice day, it will let the air in, and you will have the feeling of nature from the inside. This is also a very famous radio station KEXP, and they broadcast some of the finest music with eclectic genre. Both my espresso and cappuccino were fantastic, and all their staff were very kind. There was a time I knew nothing of the world, of music, of spandex,but then I discovered KEXP after the END ( which was supposed to be an alternative radio station) played too much Greenday. I have no idea what the END plays now. Is Marco still there? Thats how long I havent listened to the END. I now listen to KEXP and am proud of eveything that they offer. Great station! read more

This is America's greatest radio station. Listener supported, no advertising and a truly glorious musical selection. I canceled my xm subscription when I moved to Seattle because this station fed me the latest and greatest (and not latest) of the best music has to offer... Seattle has fantastic radio stations, even the corporate ones like 107.7 are VASTLY superior to other major radio markets.... Seattle should take heart in knowing they probably have the best radio selection in the nation. read more

This is the best radio station in seattle!!! Almost no commercials and now and then the have a telethon to raise money. Other wise it is all great music, major varitey, and super fun. The djs are very friendly and know their stuff. On sunday mornings they have regge! Its the best rockin station in seattle!! read more

Listening to this station is like taking vitamins for your mind! There just aren't enough indie music stations around and KEXP is one of the few, perhaps the best in the country. If you're in the south sound area like myself, tune in to 91.7 in the Tacoma area, or 90.3 in the Seattle vicinity. They play everything, literally. Next time you have a spare moment, call them up and request anything, because I bet they'll play it! read more

KEXP kicks ass! I don't know what I'd do without Kevin Cole's show in the afternoons. DJ Riz and Larry Metro also stand out among the many talented DJ's there for me. Take advantage of the Podcasts for sure. I pretty much just use music from the song of the day to fill my MP3 player. What a great way to explore music! read more

KEXP has been pleasing my ear holes for a long old time. I listened when it was KCMU and I was driving without a license to go to the OK Hotel. Anyway, kexp.org makes me homesick and not homesick at the same time. The whole time I've been living here I've wondered why radio sucks so bad. I mean, it just completely sucks my butt. Not much I can add but that KEXP has expanded my breadth of what I listen to - and I wake up on Sunday mornings listening to Preaching the Blues. I think John Richards is worth every cent he is paid and that Troy is pretty darn good, too. Cheryl and Kevin are perfect and this is one of those situations that you hope never, ever changes because when it does, we'll look back and realize how great we had it. I first heard of this station when I visited Seattle about 9 yrs ago. It was only a couple of yrs ago I started listening to them. I am so glad I have. They have such a wide range and sometimes eclectic selection of music. I am constantly exposed to music I wouldn't hear anywhere else. A great way to sample music is to sign up for their Song of the Day podcast. Check them out, if you really love them, donate! They are true to the phrase: listener supported!! Tune your dial to 90.3 or stream them on your computer, you wont be disappointed. read more

KEXP is the best radio station in Washington. They have individuality, great mix of music, & good pragramming. And don't forget! Free Concerts in Seattle Center! Gotta love that! The fact that this is the station local bands are turning to to play their music says a lot about the quality of the station. KEXP is dope, and we're lucky to have them on the radio waves here. I really find it hard to get into their "usual" programming, which is stuff like: - an indie-rock group from Ottawa, or - the electro-punk duo from New York, or - the band that's really just two kid's names, like "Ben & Kristy" or "Marcus & Jamal" That aside, I really like their weekly shows. Swingin doors, shake the shack, the Roadhouse, Positive Vibes. Good stuff by good DJs who really know their genres. read more

BEST RADIO STATION IN THE WORLD. Being a Seattle youth who doesn't like the same music as most kids his age, KEXP was just the right choice for me. Love the request line, because they always reply in about ten minutes, and usually play the song you ask for. John in the Morning is absolutely amazing, and I always go to school with a smile on my face, all because of him. Also love Larry Rose's show, because he plays a lot of the music I love. When I went to the studios to pick up some concert tickets, the lady there was so sweet and took me on a (free!) tour of the studios. I walked by Cheryl Waters (!) in the hallway, and saw where they keep all the vinyl. Amazing service at the studios, and an even better radio station. So glad I switched from commercial radio to this beautiful thing. read more

Quite honestly, it's the best radio station. Listener supported radio. That means it isn't being told by a larger parent media company what to play, like the top 40 hits, on repeat day after day after day. Hear some new music or new songs by artists you like. They offer great live sessions and their website and podcasts are full of music to expand your horizons. Break out of the top 40 bubble. Listen to KEXP. read more

listening to kexp is the best thing you could do for yourself whether you live in seattle or not. john in the morning will be your virtual best friend, playing fabulous music and coming up with hilarious insights into life, love and happiness! the station rocks, we donate to it, we've had ads on it, we feel part of it. and just so you know, the gold club level membership gets you into VIP shows at the triple door - i've seen some of the best shows there thanks to kexp. cheryl waters rocks too! especially her professional handling of the "nick cave situation" which to this day still baffles me. music consumes me. it has gotten me through the best and worst situations in my life, and there is no better way to live than with this radio station. read more

THE LAST GREAT AMERICAN RADIO STATION. PERIOD. I'm so glad I can listen to such a great variety of music - indie rock, hip hop, punk, reggae, the list goes on - without obnoxious commercial interruptions. I can't stand mainstream radio anymore, what with more time devoted to annoying commercials and DJs bantering than actual music (who in their right mind decided Danny Bonaduce would be an awesome voice to wake up to? *cough*KZOK*cough*). Not to mention the quality of music and trite Top 40 songs that get beaten to death and make me want to harm babies whenever I hear them for the millionth time. KEXP is a breath of fresh air and I especially love that they are devoted to local music and the Seattle scene. You can tell they're passionate about music without being pretentious and elite. On the way to work the other day I heard the Roots, Pretty Girls Make Graves and the Sex Pistols all in the span of 10 minutes. My one and only complaint (and it is small and downright laughable) is that there is entirely too much Cure and Smiths songs for my taste. Even though I do have a soft spot in my heart for those bands, I hear them about 5 times a day. But other than that, KEXP, you're an absolute diamond! Love! Love! Love! read more

I bumped into KEXP online a year or so ago. Since finding then, they are my primary medium for discovering new music. Logically, when time came for me and my partner to visit Seattle, I knew I NEEDED to check out their studios. To my delight they have a pretty sweet "open to the public" policy. We shot them an email and they opened their doors, charge free, for us. We expected a quick and superficial visit, I was delighted when we got a detailed tour of the facilities, even stopping to chat with people around the office. Susan, the volunteer coordinator, was absolutely wonderful and warm. I have never met a group of people more passionate about their work. In addition, the vibe inside the studio speaks to the love and pride that these music junkies have. I have a hard time putting the experience into words. This visit was the absolute highlight of my trip to Seattle. I can't believe I just met Cheryl Waters! read more

While it's often a nice change of pace from homogenized corporate radio I too often find myself flipping to another station after just a few minutes because I find some of their DJ's to annoying to listen to. They sound as though they are trying to appeal to some cutting-edge hipsters and like to tell everyone how amazing, awesome and great every song they pick out is. Our show: Evenings with Sean MacLean. He was uber-professional, calm (especially for such a quick set-up, warm-up, and run-through of how the program would proceed) and had a great voice!! Then - BOOM: "30 seconds to air!" Well damn... guess no going to the bathroom for the next hour.. Sean was great on the fly working with all the interviews and promoting other programs on our show. The announcers often babble on inanely and on occasion make major blunders in their comments. And the station has fallen prey to being less concerned about the quality of the music and more concerned about the identity of the composer. The "The Classical KING FM Commitment to Diversity" page shows the station is in a self-defeating identity crisis. Finally, KING has no programming even close in quality to something like Karl Haas "Adventures in Good Music". In comparison, KING is superficial and chatty. Despite the big flaws, the station is commercial-free classical music, with good reception, hence the positive rating.

Like pretty much every station they have some good hits that are awesome, and then a bunch in the rotation that play too often. I get a little worn out with Lynyrd Skynyrd Freebird since it plays so often and definitely Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana. Don't get me wrong. I love those bands! They just get play a lot, same songs too. Love it when they get some Guns N Roses or Ozzy going to wake me up in the traffic. The main thing that gets me tuned in is BJ Shea and Sarah. They're a good duo. My sizzling Hot take - Danny Bonaduce stepping down was a good move. I liked him, he was funny, and his "hot take" segments were funny, but his Life coach segment was ill advised. He'd often advise guys who had a friend cheating on their spouse to say nothing and even help them cover it up if need be. Like dude, that is not bro code. So, BJ Shea has taken it over and it's an improvement. Sorry Danny! Rock on KZOK.

Huey Lewis & the news, Van Morrison, Madonna, Run DMC, Sade, Billy Paul...I think they do a good job mixing it up overall. I know there's complaints of repeated songs, but 95.7 is way better than the other stations I listen to. The Jet's morning show with Jodi and Bender is without a doubt the best of all the stations I tune into during my morning commute. I love playing along and laughing at the 'Puget Sound Showdown' - a quiz game where two random callers compete with one another (and Jodi or Bender who take turns) the other will be the question asker. First person to 5 correct answers wins - usually tickets to a show, bragging rights and move on to play again for the title. Listening in and playing along usually results in a laugh to get my day started which is always good. Jodi and Bender also do is a string of songs within a segment called "three songs we don't normally play, but probably should". The Listener chooses a song, Jodi chooses one, and Bender chooses one. Often times the listener chooses something uncommon like a random Tom Petty song, but still occasionally gets played but Jodi and Bender pull some random, and I mean random stuff out sometimes. I was listening one morning, and Jodi put on freakin' The Never-ending Story theme song by Limahl. I don't think it gets any more random and 80's than that. Yeah 95.7 The Jet is awesome. In terms of a radio station, it's awesome that they are playing eclectic music on FM. There is a wide array of content, from all walks of life. The owner is awesome, and should be commended for his efforts and making this place a reality. In terms of a volunteer organization, it absolutely fails. I volunteered there for several years, and found it to be very cliquey. Aside from one or two people, volunteers with more seniority make zero attempt to make you feel welcome, resulting in a high turnover of enthusiastic new members who stop coming after a few times. No one introduces themselves. Countless times I'd walk in to the station to be un-greeted, and looked over with apathy and indifference. It was so palpable at times, that it killed my enthusiasm and made me leave. Most of the contact between volunteers is done through email and Slack, a cloud-based collaboration tool. All of the regulars are quick to respond to one another, pat themselves on the back, and quick to tell you when you're doing something wrong, but if you have a question, they literally never, ever get back to you, unless they need something from you. That's the reason new people don't stick around, and that's the reason I left. Actual face-to-face meetings felt like a cool kids table. If you are a self-motivated, DIY kinda person who wants to have a radio show, you are certainly given the tools to get you there. If you want to feel like you a part of a community, you are ranked based on age, melanin, and genitalia. There's a lot of younger volunteers who pollute the meetings seeming to care nothing about music, professionalism, egalitarianism, and instead want to wear a provocative t-shirt and push their political agendas and SJW ideologies. Literally, the biggest safe space banner you will ever see hangs on the wall as a constant reminder that you're only welcome in this spot, if you fit the criteria. People went out of their way to make me feel unwelcome. A few times I was working in the station during a new member orientation, listening to the organizer with ill-fitted attire and a water bottle with an Antifa sticker say "like" every other word, and repeatedly making it clear that they don't want "bands with like, all white guys, like, playing shows here". No one is there to reprimand this unprofessional behavior, resulting in less than 1/10 of the new volunteers each meeting sticking around more than a few weeks. I suppose in defense of H.E.R., you're only as good as your volunteer base. I hope some fresh faces with outgoing personalities really clean up the place, but you'll, like, have the cards, like, stacked against you.

I really liked listening to it when I first discovered it, but then it became repetitive. Do I really need to hear the "John in the Morning" acoustic guitar intro every day? The playlist seems to be a bit narrow in scope. Also, there are too many commercials and the station is constantly begging for money and telling us how wonderfully brilliant they think they are. For example, they try to sell tickets for an event and promise that the profits will go to a "great cause". Then you find out later int he commercial that the "great cause" is... KEXP. Hahaha. Many of the DJs also speak in that kind of professional, polished, super friendly, rehearsed tone that kind of puts me off, to be honest. I also recently learned about the massive salaries these guys pay themselves. Some of the DJs in the middle of the night sound fun though, and push the boat out a bit more music wise. More of that, please. Sure, KEXP is better than almost all radio stations on the airwaves, but I can listen to stations better than KEXP through the internet, so what exactly is KEXP's raison d'etre nowadays? read more

its ok. the actual music selection to potential ratio: its like a 3. like it could be sooooo good and it sometimes is but often, very often - to the point of per the usual its just...blase'. Again - KCRW's Nic Harcourt in Los Angeles - his "Morning Becomes Eclectic" program is AWESOME and serves as a great model. I feel like KEXP DJ's and program directors stick so cohesively to models and "genres" of what is cool, but KCRW / Nic Harcourt just plays what sounds good PERIOD. They should girate more towards that model - forget the city the band is from, dont put so much emphasis - although sincere - on labels and genres and this guy I know etc etc and just simply play what sounds good. thats it. read more

It's my favorite station. They play interesting music. All types. Not just commercially successful music. They care so much about what they play, about the artists, about what the listeners want, about the community. The DJs are terrific. They're genuinely nice people, and never ever annoying, not even during the fund drives. There are no ads. I have learned about more new artists from this station than I could possibly name. They make it easy to access their music, too, with their podcasts, live streaming music, etc. A+. read more

I've been listening to 90.3 FM since it used to be KCMU... and I still love them! They are getting more attention and turning into a "big" radio station so I feel like my little secret radio station is not so secret anymore! :) I still get most of my music updates from them and they introduce many new bands so a week of listening to KEXP will probably give you enough knowledge to impress some people! :) I'm a member and you should too, unless you want to listen to the lame insurance commercials every 3 songs! read more

KEXP where the Music matters? If so...why do you arrange your DJ slots based on the gender and racial attributes of your employees? Why do you spend too much time talking about post-modern neo-marxist woke political crap instead of playing music? I really miss the good ol' KCMU days when I could listen to an assortment of cool tunes and discover new artists without having to be indoctrinated by self-hating white people who try to project their race-based neurosis on their hapless listeners. I live near this place... and i can never bring myself to go inside. It's a super politically charged space with all sorts of people inside who think they're awesome... for some reason. You can smell the "Uptight Seattleite" attitude waft out the door as you walk by. This is why i will never go inside... oh and every few months someone gets shot near by and they seem to give a safe haven for drug addicts/thieves/drug dealers/beggars; which pisses me off cause I live near by. I don't know what it is about this station but I really don't care for the music they play. And I listen to almost all independent artists. I've tried listening during different hours and different programs... but I never seem to find the right mix for me. I would love to use this station as a place to discover new artists and music... but it just hasn't worked out for me. I'll keep trying though because I'm determined. :) read more

i have never found a radio station that i can listen to any day of the week, any hour and thoroughly enjoy what i am am hearing. whether its sunday at midnight or tuesday morning, kexp is consistently playing an unique eclectic mix of local and international tunes. 90.3 rocks my world. read more

KEXP made me realize that the radio can actually be delightful. KEXP finds the best music so you don't have to. If I had to buy a "best of" KEXP album, it'd probably be pretty expensive - but totally worth it. I heart KEXP. read more
