The second steak was better, but the delay was disappointing. The private room where our group of 18 was seated was another concern. The room was too warm (the management knew it kept say it will get cooler after 3 hour it did not happen ) and too small for our group, with two round tables that made conversation difficult. The overall atmosphere was not particularly comfortable for a group of that size. The service was also only fair. While the servers were courteous, the overall level of service did not meet the expectations I would have for a restaurant of this type. Considering the food preparation issues, the long wait for the replacement steak, the uncomfortable room, and the mediocre service, I would not recommend The Rusty Pelican for a group event or special occasion.

They treated me like I was family from the beginning of the planning process to the end, going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we could relax and enjoy the evening. I felt like I was working with a highly trained Secret Service of sorts: -They used walkie talkies and ear pieces to communicate with each other throughout the night. -They anticipated our needs before we had them (making sure we ate first, bringing us drinks, holding my dress, escorting me, etc.). -They changed light bulbs, mopped up spills as they happened, ran to get cups when my caterer ran out, etc. This team made sure the event ran smoothly and resolved problems that weren't even their fault quickly! At the end of the night, Javi personally delivered some leftovers from the venue to our APARTMENT which was not expected but much appreciated. The venue itself is also gorgeous. It stands out from its peers through its Mission Revival architecture, and it boasts many different rooms, cool furniture, and breathtaking ceremony sites throughout the property. There isn't a lot you have to do in terms of decor/rentals/florals because it's just that beautiful. But you have to see it for yourself to appreciate the beauty. The photos I'm attaching (some professional, some from phone cameras) don't even begin to do it justice. Finally, this is one of the only outdoor venues (if not THE only venue) in Miami that allows you to keep the party going until 1am. My husband and I really wanted to have a long wedding and dance the night away, and this venue had no issue with that. They allow you to pay for extra hours and move you into a spacious indoor room at 11pm to get around the noise ordinance. It was exactly what we wanted. I would recommend this venue to anyone getting married. I have only positive things to say about the Curtiss Mansion and its amazing staff who make people happy for a living.
