One fine example just earlier today, the store manager was asked if an item not on shelf that normally is was in stock at back of store. I think Shabir is his name; I asked him quickly as they were very busy today, just before New Year's Day! So hope I recalled correctly. I am extremely disappointed by the treatment I received from your manager. I entered the store with my legally permitted service dog and proceeded to select bagels in the same manner as any other customer. I used a plastic bag over my hand to avoid direct contact with the food. While selecting a bagel, one shifted away from the others. As I attempted to retrieve it, the display door moved slightly. At that point, your manager rushed over and immediately began shouting that I had somehow contaminated the area because of my service dog. These accusations were made publicly, loudly, and without any basis in fact. The bagel in question was being placed into my own bag for my own consumption. I was not handling food intended for other customers. Nevertheless, your manager continued yelling that I had no right to do so. What I find particularly troubling is the obvious double standard. Does your manager stand by the bagel display all day monitoring whether every customer has properly washed their hands? Does he inspect the hygiene practices of delivery workers, suppliers, vendors, and employees with the same level of intensity? Does he question where every customer's hands have been before they touch baskets, doors, counters, and food displays? If not, why was I singled out? My service dog is professionally trained, fully vaccinated, regularly groomed, and maintained to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness. Frankly, my dog is likely cleaner than many people who walk through your doors every day. Yet your manager appeared far more concerned about the presence of a service animal than about any actual sanitation issue. The most disturbing part of this encounter was the apparent assumption that because I have a service dog, I should somehow be treated differently from other customers. That attitude is offensive, discriminatory, and entirely inappropriate in a public business. A competent manager should know how to address concerns calmly and professionally. Instead, your manager chose to create a scene, publicly embarrass a customer, and make accusations without evidence. His behavior reflected poorly on your establishment and demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and customer respect. I expect this matter to be reviewed seriously and appropriate action taken to ensure that customers accompanied by service animals are treated with the dignity, respect, and equal access guaranteed to them under the law. read more

This place just had a "Grand Re-Opening". They had upgraded their hot food bar and rearranged their stock. They redis the floors so its easier to push the cart around now. This KeyFood store has become utterly back-braking inconvenient to check out your purchases. All the cash registers have no space to put down a shopping basket, because the areas for the shopping baskets are overfilled with piles of "impulse merchandise". And the management won't fix this. Older, disabled people constantly struggle with heavy shopping baskets that are impossible to place anywhere at a checkout register. Meanwhile, this store never has all of the available registers open. At BEST, they got three out of five registers working. Frequently, it's less than three. THIS IS ALL UNACCEPTABLY INCONVENIENT! And even their self-checkout registers don't all have areas for the baskets. You put a basket in a "wrong" spot that a self-checkout machine doesn't approve of, and it stops the checkout process. On August 14th, 2025, at 07:10PM, I've been trying to use the only available self-checkout register that has no shelve for a basket. A SECURITY GUARD (a large african american male) at the store suggested that I put my basket on the floor. I said that it would not be convenient. Maybe I'm disabled? The dumb uncultured security guard mocked me by repeating my words "It's inconvenient". After I was done at the checkout, I thanked the guard for trying to assist me, but told him not to go on mocking other people. He started yelling loudly and aggressively, and told me to leave the store. I was in fact leaving the store. What an bunghole person, what a bunch of bungholes in their management. Minus: VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY RUN. I bought a cottage cheese pint with the sticker. Got home, opened it, and there was blue mold on top. A sealed one should be good for weeks after the sell by date - obviously contaminated at packing. It all tasted moldy. Next time at the store I brought the empty container with the big 1.99 sticker back, obviously from that store. They had to call the manager, who interrogated me about why I didn't call the store (like I would think that would make any difference or they would want to be bothered and besides it was closed) and where was my receipt (couldn't find it in the recycling) and when did I buy it (obviously, a couple days before or on the sell-by date). She wasn't going to give me a refund of $2 effing bucks. I argued and wasn't going to give in so eventually she did, with a loud argumentative lecture. Clearly no way to treat a customer. The cashiers all try to do a good job but change over CONSTANTLY - clearly they are underpaid, poorly treated, or both. The last semi-remodeling was a year or two ago. Renovated not too long ago. This branch needed it and I am super pleased. They have a nice selection. Several cashiers are super nice and welcoming. Warning. Never go on a Tuesday. Big mistake. New inventory comes in and even though the aisles are wider it's a tight squeeze. Majority of the gents are nice and have manners but there are several that are nasty and mumble in a foreign language. Not respectful. We are there to shop which keeps them employed so patience is required. Especially during these high priced days. read more

I never encountered a cashier with an attitude here, but I'm not saying there aren't any. They're not all cheery but the act professionally and do their job efficiently. The store is well stocked and is very clean. I usually come for their salads, fruits or other staple items. It's usually not very crowded whenever I visit, but the aisles are pretty tight. One of the cleaner Keyfoods in the Brooklyn area. Most of them are old and dirty with bad management. This location however had clean aisles, nice staff and pretty good tunes (yes the music playing in the supermarket helps me shop better). If you need to do some moderate shopping for food then come here. If you live in the neighborhood, you know to visit the nearby produce markets for any veggies or fruits cause they're much cheaper most of the time. Do keep note of their sale items though as most of them will expire soon. If the meat's on sale, and ready to expire, pop it in the freezer and you should be fine. read more

I really think this store takes advantage of being one of the only choices nearby. The produce is not the greatest. It is quite frequently on its last leg or completely rotted. They are always out of stock of MANY products, especially the sale items. Since the renovations began, it's gotten worse, and it always smells like cat urine. And, for some stupid reason, they stopped making their bread & bagels on premises, instead bringing in horrible tasting products from Newark, of all places. These new baked goods actually make my family sick to their stomachs. Their only saving grace is the morning cashiers - they are always polite and cheerful, especially Lyn. This place never disappointed me, so I will leave a good review. They always have kombucha drinks available in an abundance of flavors! It's very hard finding kombucha around my neighborhood and I'm so glad it's within a walking distance! (When it comes close to the expiration date, they have sales). On a scale of 2 out of two, with two being the highest, I gave them TWO STARS for the food. That's tops. Evey thing else is not so good. I been shopping here on and off for about 10 years. I drive. Parking is both a nightmare and you never know how much to feed the meter, because you don't know how long you'll be hung up inside the store... And you will. It's inevitable in this place. OK - so I go here mostly for some very specific items and I only buy them here when they are on sale. Tropicana TWISTER 1/2 gallon drink in a container in the cooler section is .99 .... you're not seeing that any place else for that price. Watch for good sales on good quality butter(s), too. EGGS can some times be a good buy at this place. Deli counter cheeses too can be a great buy. When I'm not shopping for on sale items, I come here every so often for the deli counter and bagels, croissants, etc. from their hot n crusty style bakery. Here's the problem for me with this place - the Deli. If you go there in the morning while they are still setting up, yet the store is open, you'll stand there aimmlessly until you open your mouth. Then they will say to you, 'give me a moment' which turns out to be 3 moments or more! When someone finally does help you, the next problem you'll encounter is that all these behind the counter people simply don't shut up while they are helping you and are chatting away with co workers, almost making you feel you can't tell them your next item, or how you'd like the item they are about to slice, sliced.... If there is more than one customer at the counter, you are dead. Hardly ever will a second person come over to help you and if one does, the person then usually has problems slicing, weighing,pricing, etc. which just further slows down the process while they ask the more experienced co worker. Sometimes the food at the deli counter is very good, other times, mediocre. Once in a while I go there when I see FINLANDIA American Cheese is on sale. Though on sale and in stock together can also be frustrating at this store. Deli meats either prepared in the store or by manufacturer for slicing are all at very good prices, if you watch the sales circular. I'm going to stay away from this store now for a while though because the whole experience there today was not a great one! read more

Before I went grocery shopping at Key Food, I skimmed through their weekly circular and saw that the San Pellegrino Water is on sale, 2 (25.3 oz) for $3. Also, there is a sales slip taped on the shelf. So the SPWs are clearly on sale 2 for $3. The cashier rang up all my items and I saw that the SPWs showed up as $2.50 per a bottles, I spoke up, and another key food worker went to do a price check. She came back and said, "The 2 for $3 is for the smaller bottles and I think it's all sold out." I then said, "Not according to the circular and the sales sip taped on the shelf." I prefer this Keyfood compare to the one on 18th Avenue. They have varieties of yogurt. I found Noosa yoghurt for 2 for $3. There is also a bakery inside. The one near me only have a deli section. I would make a trek to the King Highway location for the yogurt alone. read more

I have been shopping here for more than 5 years, never no real complaints. Then last night while coming back from being sick in the hospital (and being a black person wearing a hoodie, with my hands in my pockets, because I am recovering from a fever) I was abruptly stopped after purchasing my items and told to empty out my pockets. Apparently one of the workers "saw" me stealing and decided the best way to handle the situation was to stop me like some petty criminal and embarrass me in front of everyone there. Of course I had no items on me because I am not a thief, nor have I ever been a thief. Then to add insult to injury, my roommate, who was with me at the time, went to speak to the manager the following day on my behalf since I am still recovering and was basically shooed away. So apparently they condone this kind unprofessional and overall rude behavior to long time customers. I give this Key Food 1 star because frankly, it has been going downhill more and more since I've been going there. I've been going there for 12 years. When you're car-less and don't have any other choice but to go to this Key Food, it really sucks!! Every single day I go there around 5, which is the time a lot of people go since it's after work. You would think they would have more registers open, right? Wrong. I've seen them close registers, when there's lines a mile long. Every single day I go there, there's guys in all the aisles stocking shelves. Ok, the store is open like 15 hours a day. You would think they would do the stocking during the quiet hours. So when you go for an item you want and say excuse me to the stock boy, you get a dirty look and muttering in Spanish. That's another thing. If you need help finding something, maybe 2 of the stock boys speak any kind of English. The rest look at you with that stupid blank stare, because they work there and can't help a customer. TERRIBLE. The "sales" they consider to deals, are terrible. They need to take notes from other stores that have real sales. I've seen many many items on the shelves that are expired. I once saw one of those meat and cheese platters 2 months expired. Unnnnnnreal. Now the end of this review is about the cashiers. A few of them are nice and very helpful. However, there's many that are plain rude and completely unprofessional. I once had to literally wait 2 1/2 minutes for the girl at the register to finish texting. Didn't even acknowledge me until she was done. I was just standing there staring at her, with my groceries on the belt. Not a glance or a word! There was a woman who worked there, she had a bandana on and was the cashier in the aisle that i was checking out in. I placed my basket on the moving belt and when it got to me, she was taking things out and said this goes on the floor. I said okay. Then she took the basket and FLIPPED all my groceries out-- not caring about any of the foods' conditions. When i said that that was very unprofessional she said you can feel free to get new ones. She also had the audacity to respond back saying that i can just put everything upright again and it'll be fine. Note: she said this with extreme attitude. At the end i just left everything at the cashier and walked away. She must have hated her job or something happened to her today because she had the nastiest attitude ever. They offer free delivery. I was in the store today morning, did the shopping and left at 9.07am, but get delivery only at 3pm after a few calls. All food was more than five hours without a refrigerator, and I refused to take meats and milk products, and had to go back to the store for refund and pay for the bus, they didn't even apologize. read more

Key food is your average supermarket that has anything from flowers to groceries. The place makes deliveries which is good on those bad rainy/snowy days. The place has fresh meat which guarantees the good quality you will receive. The place can get crowded at times which is kinda of a disadvantage. This is due to the small idles between different sections. Either than that, I see no other problems. There are a lot of staff to keep things moving quick and smoothly. The staff helps you find products you might be looking for... All for your satisfaction. The prices are pretty much the same as any other place so don't expect big discounts like huge supermarkets such as BJ's. Not a bad place to check out. read more

I come here almost everyday. High points relatively clean, on site bread bakery, good prices, fresh products. Low points absolutely no parking, the deli has only two guys that are hygienic, stop talking when your cuting cold cuts your spitting on my cold cuts, I will leave them in your store. The meat dept is good but the butchers need to use the bone scraper a little more and scrape the bone dust off the cuts on both sides of the meat not just the side I can see while it's in the meat case, that's just laziness. This location is well stocked with a variety of produce, bevarages, etc. The supermarket is clean and well organized. I was able to find everything I needed and the prices were reasonable. You can even purchase a nice bouquet of flowers for your home from just outside the entrance of the store. My only complaint is that the supermarket employees are not fully aware of the products the store carries. For instance, I asked the person at the customer service counter if the store sold knives and he said it didn't. When I got to the yogurt section guess what I found?... Knives. Other than that one issue, I have no complaints so far. The store employees are polite and helpful. Even the person who didn't know the store sold knives was very nice.
