I don't visit this location but it is usually a nice experience. The trader joe is big and has tons of parking. The TJ is big and spacious and there is almost no lines. I love that I can pick what I need and be out of the door within 15 minutes. The staff is friendly and are quick to over help. The inventory can be hit and miss though. I usually love this place! I buy all my fruits and veggies here. Get my macaroni and some prepared food. I find the quality of food is much better than most. I have been coming here for quite awhile and really haven't had much issue. If I do I bring stuff back they take the food back with no issue. Recently, I have noticed the quality control has been going down hill. I bought two packages of organic bok choy . I left in the frig and made the day after. Opened it and omg dozens of bugs (earwigs) 2" long came crawling out . I was in a panic And also disgusted.. they gave me my money back but this shouldn't happen even with organic veggies. Then I bought a bunch of chicken stock. Two so far have been rancid with the date of 5/25 expiration. Also staff isn't as friendly as it use to be. I'm not sure what is going on with trader but they are def slacking. It's a shame I really love this place! read more

This Trader Joe's location is spacious and has a great variety. I love that there's a parking lot too. The staff is personable, friendly and helpful here. I don't frequent this particular location that often but been wanting to go back since my last visit. It's also obvious some customers that shop here are rude and not understanding. My local Trader Joe's location is in Brooklyn and boy, it could be a rough time going there. Crowded aisles, long wrapping lines, lines out the door at times. Rare to none street parking spots available. Time will be sacrificed for a good spot. Smaller store, less variety. So you see why I'd appreciate the Staten Island location so much! read more

Although, I must disclose my deep loathing for the fact that there is only one Trader Joe's on all of Staten Island.. I will add that I'm happy this is the one. Parking is a little tough as it's a shared lott that always seems to be full and congested. However, the store is always clean and almost always fully stocked and when they don't have an item the staff is always happy to look up when they will be restocking. The staff is probably my favorite aspect. They are always sweet, kind, and willing to help you with anything. You will always find what you need and great people to help! read more

I'm a big fan of the Staten Island Trader Joe's (currently the only one on the island, but hopefully there will be more someday). The staff is friendly and more than happy to check on the availability of items, which is always necessary at TJ's considering all the seasonal products and discontinued favorites. They're pretty well-stocked, although they do sell out of stuff if you go late on weekend nights. Even when it's crowded (like on weekend afternoons), it doesn't feel as oppressive as shopping at some of the other ones in the city, and since it's set up more like the suburban stores, you don't get the line snaking through the store. Like all other TJ's, the prices are affordable, the products can be unique and creative, and their return policy for items you just don't like is great. There's plenty of parking, especially if you're willing to walk from the lot behind the building. Lastly, I don't know if it's just the artist for this store who makes them, but I enjoy all the punny jokes that are posted in the bathroom stalls. They change them out regularly, and I always look forward to seeing what seasonal jokes they're going to come up with next. read more

Since TJs hasn't been selling frozen tamales, I decided to purchase and try the chicken verde and chicken burritos. 3 wks later, I decide to read the instructions and realized they're not easy to heat. Microwave and oven methods each have a 2-step process. I don't find this product to be filling cuz I don't like the texture of tortilla wrap. Neither product has much chicken. $4 or $5 for pack of 2. Wasted my money on that. I hope they stock up on tamales filled with sweet corn, chicken cheese or beef. I cooked the chicken verde burritos in the oven. Step one, bake it for 10 mins on a baking tray. Step 2, wrap both in aluminum and bake for another 15-20 mins. The product was mainly tortilla wrap with a thin layer of sauce and thin & scant shreds of chicken. As it cooled, the tortilla did not harden as it does when it is heated in microwave. For the chicken burritos, I used the microwave method to heat them. First step, pierce all over. Step 2, run under water. Then place on microwavable dish, cover loosely with a towel and hit ' cook' for 4 mins. Even after 4 mins, it was cold except for the ends. I wet a paper towel, draped it over the burritos and put it back in the microwave for 1 1/2 mins. I let it cool a few minutes and the tortilla became hard. read more

Worse Trader Joe's I've been to!!! Cashier named Omar, had no soft skills just attitude...who was more interested in complaining to the other cashier adjacent to him, than attending to my groceries. He didn't offer to pack my bags until I told him I thought TJs was known for professionally packing groceries. Apparently, not in Staten Island. I have been patronizing Trader Joe's in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Hoboken, Hanover NJ, Edgewater NJ no matter which one, every cashier and crew were polite and helpful. This Staten Island Branch was crowded and seemed disorderly, crew people in the aisle were helpful but really getting in the way of customers. Placement of the shelves seemed to give free reign to customers to come in all directions. It basically was a MESS. I gave one star for stock supply and another store for a helpful crew member who proactively asked if I needed help in the aisle. read more

Probably The worst TJs I've ever been in. Before you even arrive-parking is the absolute worst. It's cramped and spaces are narrow. People constantly park in handicap without a tag/plates-just to not be inconvenienced. It's no better inside. Think Times Square. The minute you step in you can feel your anxiety rising. People are pushing and just everywhere you turn. It's a mad house. The workers are generally friendly and they're always willing to help-but you rarely find what you're looking for. I never really shop at Trader Joe's. However, there are a few snacks and drinks I like to grab from here. I do not know how the typical layout of the store but personally, I feel like the lanes are just so confusing. It's slanted and has very little space in each aisle. There are many things you can buy here but the store just seems to small. It tends to get pretty crowded and there were several times where i saw long lines outside of the store. I came with a list of baking ingredients and I was not able to find all 5 of the ingredients I needed. I don't think Trader Joe's is a place I can really rely on to get my essentials but it definitely is a great place to get their yummy snacks/drinks. I love Trader Joe's no matter the location. This location is convenient when I'm in Staten Island and has never disappointed me yet. Some of the reviews on here are hyper critical of a store that's products consistently sell out, the less they stock the fresher your food will be. The store itself is for the most part clean and well organized. You'll always see an employee on the floor stocking something. In my opinion the foods always fresh. The prices are great compared to the larger chains. (Although some close minded people think Trader Joe's is expensive) The cashiers are ultra fast and not ghetto as of yet and actually engage you during the checking out process. (Wholefoods seems to employ ppl from Workforce1 who are generally unhappy) The parking lot is another story. Honestly the fruit and veggies are always amazing and flavorful. Maybe a little expensive but I honestly think you get quality products. Try the 3 variety grapes!! They're awesome!! My kids also love their fruit and after spending 3x the amount for fruit from Costco I notice most of it winds up wasted. I'm my opinion(I'm a cook) some of their frozen stuff is great and some is not so good. But that's a matter of taste and desire for different ethnic foods. I love their chineseJapanese options. First and foremost I always look forward to shopping here because you always find something new and different. I love the fact that it's a lot of healthy options at a great price. Everyone is always saying in order to eat healthy it's so expensive.....not true. Have u been to "Trader Joes" ? They have great prices and their products are fresh and great tasting. People should at least give it a try if they haven't done so already. The cashiers and other staff are usually very nice and welcoming. They also have staff presenting you with new things to try. This is the best Trader Joe's I've ever been to. Everyone loves Trader Joe's, especially the big ones in queens or NJ but this one is something special. There is ample space in the parking lot to park. This is good because I'm buying a ton of groceries when I come here. Their products, especially their organic products are excellent. So reasonably priced the way organic food should be. The customer service here is capable. They have a restroom which is great if you're shopping with kids. Also, they have stickers and free samples kids love. They don't sell wine at this location but TJs wine shop in the city has lots of wine. This location has great food and produce. My experience at the store has always been a positive one, but I wanted to recognize how to staff members went above and beyond yesterday I was looking for Nova Scotia lox in its usual location, when I noticed that all of it had been removed from that particular area. I asked one of the sales people if the product had been moved to another section of the store. He explained that all the fish had been moved to a refrigerator in the back until the display refrigerator could be repaired. He then went to check in the back room to see if there was any remaining locks there. There wasn't, About 10 to 15 minutes later, another sales person walked up to me and asked if I was the person who had been looking for Nova Scotia lox. He handed me the last package of it, and said that he had searched some other places in the back cooling areas and found it. I thanked him for his extra effort. As I finished up my shopping, I thought about the kindness and customer service this man demonstrated. Wow! Then I thought about the staff in general at this Trader Joe's, and how it's a pleasure to shop here; the staff is intelligent, kind, humorous, and well-informed about their products. Probably the only grocery store I'm willing to go to voluntarily. Trader Joe's is well known for their pretty healthy and damn delicious food, all sold relatively in line with the competition (like Kellogg's, not like Guaranteed Value). The store is open and fun to shop in (as fun as grocery stores can be), and I've never been in the store once without the cashiers and staff sparking conversation and being exceptionally nice. I love this place. Although parking lot has weirdly narrow entrance and parking lot can get packed, it's worth it. I love how they have original products like ginger brew, and pumpkin oatmeal with pecans. They are reasonably priced and I get my favorite, Wasabi seaweed snacks for 99 cents. I buy 20 every time I go and nobody judges me, I am free to be me. Wild Lobster tails for 12.99 and Argentinian wild shrimp for 9.99. what?!? I come here about every 2 weeks and load up on meat and seafood, organic or wild, and spend about 150 each time. Totally worth it and produce is super fresh. I LOOOOOOVE TJ's! I have even stopped at one in the Las Vegas area while on business there. I do 95% of my grocery shopping here! I love that they have food for celiacs (AKA Gluten Free). My favs: * Sliced Sharp Cheddar Cheese: Thicker slices, fresher and better tasting than other stores * Toscano cheese soaked in Syrah. Whoa, I think I have even eaten the entire wedge by myself. Unlike the Trader Joe's in Manhattan, this location doesn't have an adjoining wine store. On the other hand, there is a smaller selection of alcohol for you to choose from, in addition to the food and drink selection you're used to in other boroughs. The staff is exceptionally helpful, especially for a location with such a large clientele, with only a slight improvement in one are in particular, i.e. bagging milk. There are also a host of other shops, as well as a pretty decent pizzeria, within walking distance, so it's a very convenient location. read more

Odd selection, strange Staten Islanders. Nice fresh cut flowers, unique selection of ready made lunch salads and sushi. Tried spinach salad n sushi and it was average for the cost. So here's the rest updated.... Went back to TJ and now I can't get enough if it. I guess I fit in as a strange Staten islander too. I'll just list some of my favorite buys here... Spinach pizza, olive tamponade, almond milk, almond granola cereal, the pre slices mozz, prosciutto, frozen skillet pasta selections, Mac n cheese, fresh breads. All the dips and chips as well. Some great finds. Produce is relatively average in price, usually fresh, big green selection pre bagged for around $2. This store does not require people to hold up signs at the end of the line and we can drive there AND park for free, unlike the Trader Joes in Union Square. The carrot cake and cheese cake are fabulous! Lots of reasonably priced items. Highly recommend shopping here. Why don't they have a liqueur store also? YES! Finally, a Trader Joe's in Staten Island (okay, there might be another location elsewhere, but this is close to where I live and frequent when I come to visit my parents/family). I was so excited when my brother told me that about the new Trader Joe's that I made my family stop by on our way back home from dinner. It was approximately 8pm on a Saturday night and the store was pretty much empty. I had never seen an empty Trader Joe's so I was quite taken aback. They had a 3:1 ratio of workers to customers (no joke). I'm sure it gets more packed in the daytime. This location is not as big as the one's I've been to in Manhattan, but it's still pretty size-able with a large selection. The prices are good (that's why I love Trader Joe's in the first place). They also have my favorite, lambic beer (Lindemans brand)!!! They have peche, framboise and pomme available (they ran out of peche when I was there though). I picked up a bottle of the framboise and a few other food items. I'd definitely come back here next time I'm back in Staten Island. read more

I love my local Trader Joe's. They have a nice selection of just about everything gluten free, vegan, organic and cultural foods. The staff is always welcoming , friendly and always on the floors when you need them to help. I love there fresh cut up mangos because I literally think to cut a mango is the hardest thing to do! Also , there PH water is another must have that I always get when I'm there along with anything cookie butter ! There cookie butter is an absolute Trader Joe's staple. I also like that in the back of the store they give daily food samples along with coffee. This helps customers try different foods and potentially buy it. Depending on the day you go the parking lot can get quite full because it's shared with other stores and the store can get busy. On one or two occasions I had to return the sushi and the salmon but we never had any previous problems. The store manager was helpful and returned my items without a fluster. Thank you for that! I wish they opened another location on the South shore. read more

One of my very favorite places to shop on Staten Island. I'm so so so happy we finally have a TJ's! This one is spacious and clean and has a large selection. As per TJ's, the prices are super reasonable. I'd like to tell you what they carry but I feel like I'd be here typing all day long. I'll tell you some of my must haves. Um. Everything? OK, seriously. The Belgian caramel waffle cookie thingees, organic produce, TJ's black tea, trail mix (they only have about 20 of them to choose from), dark choc espresso beans, dark chocolate soybeans, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, dark chocolate raisins, dark chocolate chocolate. They carry produce that's reminiscent of stuff Whole Foods would have at a fraction of the cost (organic cashew meal! score baby) 2. They have free coffee. All day long. 3. Never again must I suffer in agony in the condiment aisle screaming: "Jif?!?!" "Smuckers?!?!?!?" "Planters!?!?!" "SKIPPY?!?!?!" to anyone that will listen and make the pain end. Staten Island is no longer the outdated borough of New York City. No-Sir-EE! We even got a Trader Joe's that opened up 1 + year. We don't need to shop in the city anymore, just shop within the vicinity and save the $13 Verrazano Bridge roundtrip toll. YES! I am a health fanatic and anywhere you hear organic, it has my name written all over it. I would buy organic fruits, milk, eggs, vegetables at Trader Joe's. I would also buy out of the ordinary products that are not normally stocked at any other supermarkets, such as organic chips and dips, frozen taco rolls and dumplings, etc. I would highly recommend buying at Trader Joe's. read more
