We switched an oil account to Haffner/Energy North from another local provider. We also had them…read moreinstall a new Oil furnace/boiler. While oil delivery service has been satisfactory, the install was overpriced and raised questions about the integrity of Haffner's/Energy North. We had a proposal from our former dealer to install a Buderus boiler based system. I asked the Haffners team for a proposal and price to install a system of equal quality and especially efficiency. Haffner's proposed to install a Peerless boiler based system. In multiple discussions, that system was represented to be of the same quality and efficiency as the Buderus. Those representations proved to be not accurate. I later learned that while Peerless is a very well regarded brand, it is of lesser quality and lower efficiency than the Buderus. This first came to light when one of the Haffner's technicians who installed the Peerless system acknowledged those facts in conversation after the install. I was very disappointed and immediately raised concerns about the inaccurate statements and the lack of value in what Haffner's had installed. They "met the price" of the Buderus proposal [their original price was higher for the Peerless system]. When I challenged Haffner's supervisory staff, they offered a $100 dollar price accommodation. Given the discrepancy in value and efficiency, that did not begin to make up for the inaccurate statements we relied on in accepting their proposal. This was a system for a 95 year old widow, they should have been more honest. I ultimately spoke with a neutral party about the comparison between the two boilers - a 30+ years in the business plumbing and heating professional who has worked in my home [the system at issue was for my elderly mother] for two decades. He said while Peerless is a good quality unit, it is not at the level of the Buderus. He said in his entire career, he never had experienced a defect in a Buderus device. He also explained the difference in efficiency. In the peerless boiler, heat is transferred in a single pass around a heated chamber. The medium to be heated in the Buderus system passes three times, transferring more heat for each unit of oil burned. That information only increased my disappointment with what Haffner's's/Energy North represented to me and how they treated my mother once the inaccuracies and unfairness were brought to their attention. Conclusion: Good service and low oil prices. But pay attention to what is represented about equipment quality and efficiency. In retrospect, we should have stuck with the competing local dealer and installed the Buderus based system.

On August 15, 2026, I called Heritage Home Service to fix a leaky shower valve cartridge. Heritage…read morecame out to troubleshoot the problem, and the plumber tried to show me that it was not the shower valve cartridge. They told me that the basement leak was due to lack of caulking around the shower stall door trim and the show door bottom seal. Subsequently, the plumber caulked the door trim and joint between the shower pan and the floor. The shower was used later in the evening and the basement leak returned. It turned out that the shower valve cartridge was leaking only when the valve was open, not when it was closed. I rushed to Home Depot that evening before it closed to buy a Moen #1222 replacement cartridge at my own expense, and I replaced it myself that same evening. The next work day, I called Heritage to tell them that their work did not remedy the leak, and I texted them the sales receipt for the valve cartridge. I requested my money back for only the cartridge, or a replacement cartridge. It is now September 2, and after 3 phone calls, I haven't received a callback from the Heritage customer service representative. During the service call, I purchased the Home Advantage contract which speaks about 100% customer satisfaction. We are very senior citizens, and our treatment by Heritage has been shabby at best. I stop short of stating that Heritage business practices are predatory while awaiting any communication between Heritage and our household. I am sorry, but I cannot recommend Heritage Home services, or the Heritage Advantage contract.

This is a long story and wouldn't fit here so here's the summary of my experience; Most issues were resolved but I still have a vibrating/rumbling furnace which Mike never scheduled to look at. Mike's demeanor and interaction with me via text and in person seemed to change the more I reported issues with the installation and asking to be kept informed on status. I had to resend texts and still received either no response or responses days/weeks later. He does not know how to communicate or treat his customers courteously. I understand that he was having knee problems that led to surgery, but he should have told me earlier and provided status at different points. You can text someone even if your laid-up in bed. I never knew if he had ordered repair parts or when he was scheduled to come out to make the repair. He probably shouldn't have even taking the job since he was a one-person company and had no-one else in his company to send out. Most issues were resolved but I still have a vibrating/rumbling furnace. Problem Number 1; Mike the owner of Diamond Mechanical should have made sure that the new furnace would fit in the existing space. Problem Number 2; On the day of installation I found out Mike was out on medical. Different contractors showed up for the job. Diamond Mechanical consisted of one person (Mike). Problem Number 3 (related to Problem 1: The furnace was a too big in height to fit. They didn't look into swapping the furnace out with one that fit. The installation should have been stopped and never attempted since the new furnace was too big to fit. Another furnace that fit should have been ordered and installed. Problem Number 4; On the second and final day of installation, the old control panel was no longer working. The sub-contractor managed to rig it up to give us heat. Problem Number 5; I ran the furnace (both for heat and A/C) for a few months. I did notice that the furnace was vibrating or shaking when the fan ramped up to speed when calling for heat or AC. I didn't report this to Mike until Oct. 8th because I didn't want to be without A/C in the hot summer months. Problem Number 6; I found out that the Fan wire coming from the control panel was no longer connected at the thermostat end. I reconnected it myself. I never reported this to Mike. Problem Number 7; On Oct 8th, 2024, water was leaking inside the furnace from a drain connector. On Nov. 1st, I asked Mike for status on the drain connectors. He notified me on Nov. 4th that he had been out for 10-days with knee surgery. I said I understood but he seemed upset when I told him he could have let me know so I wouldn't think nothing was being done. Mike installed a new drain connector on Nov. 4th at no charge. Problem 5 again; On Oct. 8th, 2024, I also reported via text to Mike that I noticed that the furnace was vibrating or shaking when the fan ramps up to speed when calling for heat or AC. On Feb. 15th and 20th I resent the text about the vibrations but got no answer. Feb 26th, asked again for help. Feb 27th, Indicated by text that I said no rush and schedule for end of March. Never heard back. He knew I had this problem and it was on him to reach out and schedule a troubleshooting visit. Haven't heard back as of (12/13/25). Seems like he was fed up with the issues I was reporting to him as a Bryant Dealer/Service Contractor. Reached out one more time by text on Jan 2nd, 2026 and still no response. On Feb.15th and 20th I resent the text about the vibrations but got no answer. Feb 26th, asked again for help. Feb 27th, Indicated by text that I said no rush and schedule for end of March. I thought he was going to get back to me with a day/time to come out and take a look. Never heard back. He knew I had this problem and it was on him to reach out and schedule a troubleshooting visit.
