My husband and I went on the two hour kayak tour with Jack. He was a wonderfully informative and laidback tour guide. He was happy to answer all our questions and very patient with our lack of kayaking experience. Being that we went to Key West during the off season we ended up getting a private tour, it was a great experience! During the tour we seen quite a bit of wildlife: herons, egrets, many little fish, a few barracudas, a baby nurse shark, really neat jellyfish, and lil black crabs. The water was soo clear and the mangroves were just gorgeous! Also our shuttle driver Shelly was super friendly and upon request dropped us off at a different location then we were picked up. Overall the staff was professional and super nice! We would highly recommend this tour:)

Our guide Bethany was awesome. Had a great time and the cost of a private tour rivals that of the larger more populated tours. Highly recommended.

This was the highlight of an amazing trip to Key West! Captain Kelsey was delightful. She explained our route, the history, the tides, the plants and animals - she was knowledgeable and helpful. We loved every minute of our morning trip. The catamaran, the kayaking, the snorkeling (which was AMAZING), the food, the company. Everything was top notch. We saw turtles, rays, more birds than I can name, and even a Portugese man-o-war!! We loved kayaking among the mangrove trees. We are so very glad we opted NOT to go on one of the cheaper trips with other companies who take loads of people out on short trips. Spending a little more for a small group (we had 6 guests, plus Kelsey) and a personal experience was well worth it. Highly, highly recommend Key West Eco Tours!!

Fantastical! 4 hour Catamaran/ kayak and snorkel eco trip. Crazy great experience much needed after being cooped up with the current environment! Loved seeing all the wildlife! The whole group loved it! Super relaxing and sooooo much better than being on one of the big boats with tons of people/strangers. Amanda, "Our Guide Extraordinaire", was on point the whole time with information about the keys, wildlife, nature, the ocean and also safety. She also followed COVID protocols. She made the trip even better!!! She was also patient with us serenading her with the song "Amanda" by Boston every other 30 minutes. Well done Amanda! We will be back for more of the Java cat soon and perhaps a different island tour.

My wife and I did the kayak tour today and really enjoyed it. We were in single kayaks and loved paddling through tight spots in the mangroves and spotting fish, rays, small sharks, jellies, coral, sponges and more. Our guide Jeff has great knowledge and passion about the ecosystem in the Keys and we really enjoyed his teaching. Would not have been the same to just go paddling out there on our first trip like this. Very safety conscious as well. We had only one other couple with us and definitely recommend this trip to see and learn about the habitat up close.

Our kayak tour was awesome. Our guide Liz was so nice and very knowledgeable. We learned so much about mangroves and its importance to our eco system. I would highly recommend taking the time to do this.

A couple weeks before our trip we reserved a center console from Boat Rentals of Key West for 8 hours. On the day of the rental we arrived at their office in the Marina at Downtown Key West. The staff was courteous and gave us all the needed instructions we would need for the day. The boat was clean, gassed up and ready to go. We had a blast exploring the area and reefs around Key West. The Boat performed and ran great. Me and my wife have rented boats before and never have we encountered a staff as professional and courteous as the people working at Boat Rentals of Key West and their boats are in very good condition and obviously well maintained. In the future, we will be back to Key West and we will only rent a boat from Boat Rentals of Key West. Thanks again for the great service. Our boat rental was the highlight of our key West trip.

I never leave bad reviews, but in this case it was absolutely necessary. - "Boat Rentals of Key West" is a broker, but does not disclose at time of booking. After making a deposit on phone, we were sent to pickup our boat at a place called "Paradise Boat Rentals" at Murray Marine on Stock Island. - We arrived at Paradise Boat Rentals at 1pm where final payment was charged. Upon which, the owner "Rocky" recommended he guide us through the narrow channels to main water. Very shallow area that surrounded the location. - When we hit open waters, Rocky waived us through and we were on our way. 35 minutes later, the boat broke down. From 1st contact, it took them 3 hours to come assist us. - By 5:15pm, we had everything swapped over to a replacement boat. We used this replacement boat to tow Rocky 45 minutes closer to KW (out of courtesy). - It was cloudy, windy and the water was very choppy that day, not to mention, we were in a flat bottom deck boat. It was extremely rough to say the least, and we still had to make it back to Murray on Stock Island. - By 6:45pm we could barely see. We realize at this time, the replacement boat has NO lights and NO navigation device. My wife calls Rocky on his cell, and explained we were about 500 yards from his marina, but needed an assist due to no lights or nav - it was not safe trying to navigate the narrow channels without someone experienced with such area. He begins screaming at her and accusing us of being intoxicated. I get on the phone and he begins cursing "I know what F...n games you are playing", "I'm not coming to help you", "Just wait until you get here and see who you are messing with", etc, etc. I explain to him that 3 of us on the boat, including driver had not taken 1 sip of alcohol that day. - At this point, due to the situation and the threats from Rocky, we pulled over to a bulk-headed area and called the local authorities. They agreed we should not drive the boat as it was very dangerous to do so without lights. They then helped return the boat and coordinated our vehicle pickup from Murray. At 9:30pm, we were finally returning to our hotel. - We are now going through the channels of dispute with our credit card company for right at $400 in charges (from both this broker and Paradise rentals)! Rant over. Proceed with caution.

The day we went, the waves were pretty choppy. I got in the water and panicked. Kelly, our guide, expertly made sure I got back to the boat. Spencer, our dive master, helped me up and reassured me the whole time. I got to spend the next couple hours hanging out with Spencer and robin (the captain), which honestly, was a great time. What I loved is how committed they were to safety, and also making me feel valid in my decision to abort the dives. My partner successfully completed two dives and had a fantastic experience with Kelly guiding him. If/when we're back in key west again for diving, we will definitely book with Lost Reef again!!

Lost Reef Adventures...the worst dive shop that I have encountered in 30 years of scuba diving…read more The negatives: The owner, Nick, was extremely unfriendly to the point of being hostile. He had a serious attitude problem and had no idea what the concept of "customer service" meant. He just stares at you, waiting for you to say something...it's really creepy. After telling us to show up at 7:00 for the morning dives, no one from the shop bothered to show up until 7:45. The crew was only okay. The dive master acted like this was an annoyance to be taking us out on a dive...like he just wanted to get this over and done with. He just swam around for 45 minutes until it was time to re-board. The boat pilot told us, "We're not leaving the dock until you get your gear ready." There was one guy (with a mullet and ear rings) that was pretty cool and very helpful. The equipment was fair, but had some issues. The first tank that I hooked up to only had 1200 psi, turns out that 1/4 of the tanks onboard had previously been used and not removed or refilled. The fact that they all had the rubber covers on the valve (indicating a fresh tank) made it very confusing as to which tank to use. My dive buddy's regulator was inoperable. The dives were fair at best. I guess Key West really isn't that great for sea life when compared to the USVI or Belize, buy the dive master didn't even bother to point out sea life. EVERY dive I've been on in 30 years had a dive master that took pride in his/her job and did their best to point out - things to see - during the dive. I told the travel office on the base at Sigsbee not to recommend them. There are vastly superior shops like Southpoint Divers and Captain's Corner that will give you a much more pleasant experience. I dove with Southpoint on all of my subsequent dives in Key West. The positives: The boat was great - lotsa space for everyone, safety equipment was plentiful, and the safety briefing was well done. As I mentioned before, one of the crew (lives in Roatan, Honduras and was visiting his daughter) was very helpful but unfortunately, he was the exception. The BCDs, masks, and fins were fine. There's not really anything else positive that came out of my experiences. Do yourself a favor and use one of the other dive shops in Key West.
