It was an absolute blast! We went here sailing, and they did amazing. Not a single problem went wrong. When some dumb boaters were trying to go in front of us, they handled the situation very well. Definitely would recommend this to anyone who's looking to have a blast. Captain was amazing, did an excellent job driving, other man was great as well, running around the boat to take magnificent photos of the people who were parasailing and was very generous with the amount and honest when they were not the best photos so he gave people refunds for that. read more

This is not something I typically do - I sometimes write reviews when things are great - and usually I don't when things or bad because I have better things to do with my time. And to be fair - I am not writing a bad review of the experience, because I never got the opportunity to do them. This review is instead about the manger of the company and TripAdvisor/Viator. To try and make a long story short - I had reserved a snorkeling trip in Key West months in advance as it was the one thing my daughter wanted to do there. However - a day before the trip that "time" of the month was starting. My wife and I had hoped we could just use the proper feminine products to go on the trip but that morning it was obvious that this wasn't going to be the case. I sent an email to Sunset Sports explaining the situation, and they responded saying that I had 24 minutes to respond back, and after 9AM the trip would be booked. I was unable to respond back in time. My wife and I deduced that the safety of everyone for the trip was important and decided that we wouldn't go. I then called later that day to inquire about getting a refund of some kind considering the safety risk it would present. Now I understand - policy is policy but I would also hope that either the manager at Sunset Sports or someone at Viator of who I spoke with both of them - would be human enough to understand the situation that a 12 year old is going through. But instead I got the response that "There are feminine products for that," and "We can't do anything about that." Yes you are right - but it doesn't change the fact that I contacted ahead of time about my situation - and would hope someone might be understanding like TripAdvisor once was years ago. Clearly that is not the case anymore, and they won't be receiving our business in the future. So when I get a response from the tour operator - and I know I will. Saying that I knew the policy and we contacted you back - yes you did. And I understand where you are coming from. But that's not how a community business should work. We used this company for parasailing and jetskiiing and had a great time! I booked online less than a week in advance and their prices for both activities were among the lowest of all the companies I looked at. The kicker is when I signed up for jet skiiing, they offered me 20% off the early bird parasailing at Smathers Beach. It had to be on the same day so we did parasailing in the morning and jetskiing in the evening. Early bird wasn't that early as it was scheduled for 10am. We arrived around 9:15am as it said to arrive 45 minutes early. This was not necessary and the address shown was near where the shack was on the beach (there are 2) so they pointed us to the right one. The wait was lovely on the sand and rocky jetty that goes out. Our parasailing experience was great as there was only one other party with us on the boat. We were all up in the air for the same amount of time and I felt like it wasn't too short. The view was nice and it wasn't too cold that early in the morning. We did jetskiing at 4pm and the directions for parking were great! It was in the back of a nice hotel and after a short safety demo, they asked us who wanted to go fast so they could order the group. After one short run, they reordered us for the optimum ride. Being second in line, we cruised around at top speed (the jet skis are governed) and did donuts while we waited for people to catch up. It was awesome! We traveled 25 miles (I tracked it on my running app) and went all around the island, hitting key spots. After we got back, we were allowed to use the nice pool at the hotel they operate out of, which was a nice touch! read more

The 2-hour sunset cruise was an absolutely amazing experience with stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere from start to finish. The food was fresh and delicious, and the open bar offered a great selection of drinks to enjoy while watching the sun go down. The crew was exceptionally friendly, professional, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of. The price was very reasonable, especially considering the quality of service and overall experience. We were not happy with the snorkel cruise trip (at all) female "captain" was not all that likeable. We also did NOT go to the advertised location for snorkeling due to weather. Which would have been OK but the other location sucked and none of us saw much at all. We all (6 of us) should have been notified PRIOR TO arrival (and on the boat) as they had our phone numbers and texted us with a bunch of nonsense prior to the trip. It would have been easy to let us know so we could have made a choice, then, Captain announced no refunds will be offered unless we leave now. We also found a lot of the guests loud and ignorant - I contacted the owner about all of it. He responded once but then ghosted me before our agreement was complete. Not a man of his word read more

We did the morning Jet Ski tour and LOVED it! Eric, Barrett and Dakota were excellent tour guides! They have a great safety training and taught you how to use the jet skis! We did one jet ski each so we could both drive the whole time. Once we got out in open water, they all made sure no one got lost and had someone watching out for the slower people (like myself), while also letting the faster people go ahead. It was a lot of fun! *wrongful death lawsuit (check Google) We showed up today to do watersports, today is supposed to be windy while a cold front comes in. We arrived and went out to sea. Upon arrival at our activities, the crew informed us we'd have to leave due to weather/wind. We woke up early, drove here, parked, waited to board and finally take off, just to do absolutely nothing! We went straight out and came right back in. The crew was even complaining about why did we go out, we knew this would happen. When we got back in they told us all to request a refund at the desk. Katie was extremely rude and was unapologetic. I requested a refund plus vouchers for us to come another time, as they wasted half a day of our Key West time with this. The manager was pretty unapologetic and said they can't control the weather they can't do anything but refund us. They wasted half a day of our Key West vacation because they wanted to try and sneak in a day not letting anyone know there was a potential for this. It's absurd to me that they wouldn't offer any sort of compensation for the massive inconvenience. I'd avoid this business at all costs, you don't know if they'll just take you out to feel sea sick and then come back without anything to make it right. Terrible! Update : the winds coming in were due to the cold front coming tomorrow. Perhaps this lack of awareness surrounding the weather resulted in the issues today. We were not rude at any point, just upset regarding Sunsets inability to make this situation right. As opposed to your employee Katie who gave us sass when we asked for a voucher. I understand weather can happen but nothing should have changed between the 30 minutes when we left the dock and when we got out to sea. Your crew also said the storm had approached 3 hours sooner than expected, so I am under the impression there was ZERO intention of actually completing the entire 6 hour day. Was the plan to only give us half a day and keep our money, like many other reviews say? It's absurd that you are standing behind this excuse when your own crew questioned your judgement. Yes unfortunately rebooking isn't enough as our trip is only to Wednesday and today is Monday, tomorrow is under 70 degrees. There was no ability to reschedule on our end. Not to mention, you all still wasted 1/2 a day of our vacation over poor judgement and lack of communication. This is a deeply saddening situation and I can tell Sunset doesn't care about their customers, rather making money and protecting their investments. Also have to note, business owner is disputing my reviews on other sites to try and maintain a more positive rating. Wife and I went on 3 excursions with them, enjoyed all 3. Jet ski, snorkeling and kayaking/sandbar. I can only remember a few of the crew names - Barret, Logan, Canon, Daniel, Caroline. They all did a great job to make the outing fun and memorable. Money well spent. read more

A friend and I signed up to do the 4pm jet ski tour. We signed up through our hotel and the person said to show up like 15mins before to do some paperwork. We were unable to find the location and we had received a call from them confirming that we were scheduled and on the way. Once we arrived (running like 5mins late before departure) we filled out the paperwork and got life jackets. 2 other people were there they were ready to go, Marshal said they were going to get started and he would be taking us out and see if would be able to catch up to the others. Being a first-time jet ski driver with a passenger in rough strong wind currents it took me a bit to get used to the jet ski controls and managing the waves. Marshal was great, he kept looking back to make sure we were ok. A few times he came back or stopped to make sure we were ok and gave me some great tips and pointers. Marshal was a great tour leader, very knowledgeable, friendly, full of tips. He took our pictures while on the tour (of course with our permission). He asked multiple times how we were doing with managing the waves and the currents. Gave me major props for being a first-time jet ski driver in rough, choppy conditions and having a passenger. My teenage son and I decided to try out the ski jet tour. We wanted to get out on the water, get some speed and try out these machines. Due to his age, he rode on the same ski jet. After watching other couples, I REALLY recommend you just get your own jet ski for each person if you can. That way, each person can set their own pace and go at their own comfort. We had folks that were ready to tear up the water at 60 mph and others who freaked out going 15. Thankfully the guides were up for the challenge and let us faster drivers lead the pack while another guide supported the more driver challenged. (and trust me - my son and I were shocked at just how driver challenged some folks were - but it didn't really hinder us at all). The guides were knowledgable, patient, fun and easy going. We even stopped for a couple of minutes in a sand dune to cool off in the water and take a break. It was a really fun way to get on the water! read more

First time ever riding a jet ski. With that said, wife and I had the best time. Wife rode on the back as my passenger. I would have liked my own jet ski so I could stand up and absorb the waves. But we had a blast riding doubles. The tour guides were awesome! They explained how to ride and it was really easy. Not one time did I feel uncomfortable or out of control. The jet skis handled amazingly well. It was not at all like riding a dirt bike or street bike. I would definitely recommend going here. read more

Excellent Mangrove kayak & sandbar party experience!! We did the mangrove kayak tour and sandbar party cruise. Captain Cole and crew, Canon & Katie, were absolutely amazing hosts. Kayaking into the depths of the Mangroves with Canon was exciting, educational, & entertaining. The sandbar experience was well worth the trip. Unfortunately, a storm came up and we had to bail a bit early, but the crew kept us safe & allowed us to stay on the boat at the dock for an extra drink. The lunch was plentiful and delicious, with many options for all - vegetarian, gluten free, &/or lactose free guests alike. And they did not skimp on the alcohol! 11/10 for sure! read more

I booked a parasail adventure for my two sons and husband with Sunset WaterSports. They were all able to go together and we got a $5 per person discount for booking the 9:00 a.m. spots for the guys. They had a boat of about seven guests total and got about 8 minutes in the air parasailing over beautiful Key West. The crew aboard the boat made it easy for my 8 year old, who was a bit nervous. They let him watch and took my crew last, so he had time to watch the process. While they were in the air the boat crew got amazing photos and videos of their adventure. We paid an additional $50 for roughly 150 photos and videos they quickly uploaded to my husband's phone. The images are so fun! Of all the adventures we had in Key West the boys said parasailing was their favorite. We would definitely recommend Sunset WaterSports parasail adventure for family fun in Key West. read more

10/10 experience! Signed up for the 1.5 hour jet ski tour! We saw dolphins (which is rare), stopped in places to swim, visited sandbars, and toured the west side of key west all the way to the Atlantic. The sip and dip snorkeling cruise sounded fun, so we went for it, even though it was very windy, with rough ocean water. The boat captain was good and hard working, but his assistants were real duds...totally disinterested. They were not very friendly and did not attempt to give instructions to novice swimmers trying to snorkel in the rough water. The bathrooms were filthy and were out of toilet paper. Overall, it was not a very good experience. Also, in my opinion the reef we went to was not as special as they advertise. The coral is beat up and bleached, not many fish. Compared to reefs in the Caribbean, it is not very good. read more

Amazing!! Sunset Watersports provided my family an above-and-beyond experience! Our group of 8 was celebrating a milestone birthday and we had an excellent time during our Key West Sunset Dinner Cruise. All thanks to the professional crew and captains!! There were 60-70 people on the vessel and we all fit quite comfortably as we were promptly briefed about safety and the guidelines for the vessel. Very simple instructions were provided in a friendly and knowledgeable manner to ensure everyone on board stays safe and has a fantastic time. The bar on board was Open-Well and was staffed by a very professional and friendly lady. Dinner was provided buffet-style below deck and was quite delicious. It had a Cuban influence to it and there were plenty of different options to choose from. All 8 of my group enjoyed the choices that were provided. The dining room was rather warm and stuffy but that is absolutely to be expected considering it's Florida, on a boat and packed together briefly for tasty food. We sailed quite a ways out and around the island a bit and it was gorgeous. There wasn't much shade on deck but it kind of just depended on where the Sun was hitting the cabin. Sunglasses and perhaps a wide-brimmed hat would be perfect. Overall, we highly recommend Sunset Watersports' professional, well-trained and friendly crew to anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful evening and I have confidence that their other activities are operated just as smoothly. Horrible Company. Do NOT book anything with them. I booked a cruise for the wrong city. I realized this 23.5 hours before the trip. They have a 100% refund policy with 24 hours notice. They were rude at first and then unresponsive. Because I was 30 min late that would not give me any money back at all. I was out over $450 all over 30 min. I know it was my mistake but because I was so close to the 24 hours notice I was asking for some consideration. The manager will not even respond to my emails. Horrible customer service. 4 man golf cart was shoddy at best. Paid a premium price for a golfcart that wouldn't start from a stop. VERY dangerous at intersections... KEYWEST intersections are inherently dangerous all by themselves, then add in a cart that may or may not take off... Even missed an entire traffic light because of the issue. In the evening we shot over to Hogfish Grill on stock island. On the way back the golfcart had NO lights!!! We were using cell phone lights to warn other drivers that we were on the road! Staff seemed friendly enough... But with so many options to rent from, I recommend any other. read more

Super fun time! We booked the 90 minute tour a day or two before with no problems; the meeting place was Cow Key Marina. Upon arrival, there are a few papers to sign and if you are under 36 years old; you have to take some sort of test. WHEW I'm glad I'm older. Our tour guide was Josh and after we all finished with paperwork, we got a life vest and had a lesson about the jet ski and the rules while out on the water. We started out slow due to the no wake area but once out; it was time to get things going. There were 2 people who went a bit slower but that wasn't a problem. Josh was very patient and had the faster people do a few circles while the others caught up. We stopped at a sandbar for some downtime and were able to get in the water. If I could give one recommendation to the tour company, it'd be to give everyone a bottle of water. If you want a water/soda, you need to buy it or bring one with you. Really pretty sunset snorkeling tour but the staff seemed more interested to be on their phones versus engaging with the clients on the boat. I've done these type of tours in other tropical locations and I feel much safer in water when at least one staff person is in water as well keeping eyes on all guests. No food which is fine but staff was snacking all trip in front of guests. But the sunset again was beautiful to watch while on water. read more

They were very kind and did their best to help us feel comfortable during our time with them. This comment is regarding Sunset Sport golf cart rental at our hotel . We trusted it was in good condition however it ran very poor and broke down. It was traumatic for my family. If renting from this company my recommendation would be to get a newer model cart. The cart shouldn't have been given to us for safety reasons. It was irresponsible for a company to do so. read more

Doing the all-in-one adventure days with Sunset Watersports was always you must do for us on our trips to Key West. It was a pricey day, but always an excellent time. The excursion was always billed as a 14 activity do-it-all day but when I went to book it this year I noticed that it said 12 activities instead of 14. After some investigating I realized that the two activities that were no longer available were the two that were most crucial to me: water skiing and windsurfing. Now frankly, you're either going to have a calm day during what you can water ski or windy day where you can windsurf, but as long as I got to do one of those activities, my day was going to be made. I called to inquire about the missing activities and they said that those activities weren't very popular so they will only from the trips. I know every time we went the other folks who water skied with us definitely appreciated that skiing was one of the options (I even met someone who had water skied professionally while in college). Bummed. I was told that windsurfing was available with the smathers Beach pass, which is another all in one day only on the beach instead of in the middle of the ocean so I booked that instead. When we got to the beach on Christmas Day for our big fun day of parasailing, kayaking, and windsurfing, we were told that replacement sails for the windsurfers we're on back order and that the headquarters knew that, despite someone at their call center having told me that this activity was available when I booked it less than a month out. They refunded our money, but didn't give us an option of a reduced price to do the reduced number of activities, so we wound up hang out at the beach for about a half an hour and then heading back to our friend's house. That was a real disappointment. We've spent thousands of dollars with this business over the course of the years and it just doesn't sound like our business matters to them. We will probably wind up shellling out slightly more to book with one of their competitors in our future trips. We also did their quote unquote eco tour, which does explore an ecologically important area but does so in an ecologically unfriendly way in mini "speed boats". We did really enjoy this tour and our tour guide, but one of the highlights of the tour is supposed to be snorkeling and we saw maybe one fish bigger than my thumb. I also don't consider a 40 horsepower boat to be a speedboat, but they were pretty zippy considering how small the motors were and probably felt like they went very fast to people who don't regularly boat. At the end of the day, this is a great company for their general clientele who are tourists who often don't even know how to swim. If you have a lot of experience on the water and like to do more intense water activities like water skiing and wind surfing, they definitely aren't investing anymore in the parts of our business that would have brought you Joy. So disappointing. read more
