Great time on my kayak tour with Heather. Despite not seeing any widlife, crappy weather, and no fun. JUST KIDDING! It was a lot of fun. Saw fish, jellyfish, starfish, birds...weather was excellent. And it wasn't too physically demanding (even for me an old guy who's not in the best of shape). Heather was a great guide and it was a great experience. Would definitely repeat!

We did a guided kayak tour with Brett and had an amazing time! Brett was very kind, outgoing, and very knowledgeable about the local ecosystem. If you're looking to take a break from Duval Street and enjoy some nature while in Key West, definitely recommend heading over to Lazy Dog. Plus, they give you a 10% off coupon for Hurricane Hole right next door where you can get some good, fresh seafood.

Heather our fun and knowledgeable guide

What a fun time exploring and kayaking here. We went on the two hour kayak tour and loved every minute of it. Parking is pretty easy and the staff here are very friendly and helpful. My husband and I shared a tandem kayak and off we went on tour with the best guide Heather. She was extremely knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and all the living creatures. Heather was able to reach into the water and pull out various sea life like sea sponges, Cassiopeia Jellyfish, and a starfish. We were able to touch and hold all three of these life forms but we put them back in the water quickly. We learned so much about the mangrove trees and how they can withstand hurricanes. Their root systems are shallow, no more than 30 feet below the soil surface. They are so strong and are able to protect each other. We kayaked inside the mangroves and felt the quiet and the shade. Once inside, it was a little difficult to maneuver the kayak but we made it out eventually. We really had the best day on the water and I would highly recommend if you are in Key West, stop here for a some Florida fun!

Best experience while in Key West! I booked the guided 2 hour kayak tour along with my husband and it was fun! The check-in was easy, you have to sign waivers and once you arrive you have to wait for the tour time and others to arrive. During this time there is small restaurant and bar you can visit while waiting. Parking is a bit challenging, there aren't many parking spots. Once out in the water it is a bit tough to maneuver the kayak but you can grab onto the actual mangrove branches or use your paddles to continue on route. Heather was our tour guide and she was amazing! She was extremely knowledgeable about the area, the species around, and she allowed us to see up close some of the animals she saw along the way. It is obvious she loves her job and the critters around! The water isn't deep, there are areas that are extremely shallow so don't worry too much about flipping the kayak. We went mid May and the water was lukewarm/ warm, not cold at all! Tip: use sunscreen even if it seems a bit cloudy, and take water to drink.

We followed each other.

If you're looking to rent a kayak or go on a kayak tour, definitely start here. After exploring other options, we chose Lazy Dog Adventures for our kayak tour because it was affordable, and both my 14 and 17-year-olds could participate. Our tour guide, Brett, was fantastic! Attentive, knowledgeable, and super accommodating, he guided us through some rough waters and tight mangrove tunnels, and not once did I feel insecure. Brett led the tour in a professional yet amicable manner, paying attention to everyone in our group, regardless of their skill level. The tour was 2 hours long and included the kayaks, a guide, and lots of information about the sea creatures in the area. Overall, this kayak tour was excellent, and I highly recommend it.

We had such a fun time renting kayaks from lazy dog! We definitely got lost on our own so I probably would've done a tour in retrospect. We were able to follow a tour guide toward the end to get un lost and ended up seeing a manatee. At the end the tour guide air dropped us the sweetest photos! Everyone was so nice and we had a great time!

We had an awesome afternoon kayaking in Key West. We called in the morning and they let us know they were pretty busy but afternoon would be good. We arrived just after 2 and the girls working were so nice! They set us up with two kayaks and a map and let us go out without a guide since there were only about 2 hours left in our time. The water was amazing and the mangrove areas were so beautiful!! Hard to believe this was tucked in a busy boat channel and near a main road in Key West. We saw fish and were looking for the sharks that the people coming into the dock saw...we missed the sharks but all our other sights were amazing!! The rental prices were super reasonable and there was a great little watering hole next door when we finished up. It's very easy to get to as well...I highly recommend kayaking with them!

We had an absolute BLAST on our 2- hour guided tour! Leah was a phenomenal guide and we got to see so much (manatee, nurse shark, etc..) wildlife. I was a little hesitate on doing this at first (who wants to work out on vacation, lol) but I'm so glad my husband talked me into it!

Mangrove tunnel

Lovely time with Rachel out on the kayak tour! World-class views, as we twisted through lush mangrove tunnels and calm water ways. Rachel was an excellent guide, with exceptional knowledgeable about local flora and fauna, along with a joyful passion for the area. A highlight of our stay in Key West!

Why 5 stars? Because a private paddleboarding adventure is pretty awesome, it turns out…read more --- --- --- This was such a cool experience! My wife and I have been on group paddleboard tours and we've been paddleboarding where you're just sent out on your own for a certain amount of time, but we've never had a guided tour like this. It was cool because we'd never been to Key West, while our guide knew the lay of the land like it was her own backyard. She gave us a path and a purpose, which I really liked. When we go out on our own, we tend to just aimlessly wander, but that definitely did not happen here! Not only did we have a path, but we were educated about different things along the way, and just about life in Key West, in general. Because I'm a terrible person, I don't remember our guide's name, but she was awesome! The only issue I had was getting our trip booked. I actually purchased the Yelp deal, which saved us some money, but I didn't want to end up booking online because I'd already paid for the Yelp deal. I kept calling them over and over again, but never heard back from anyone after leaving messages. Finally, the morning we planned on arriving, we called and someone actually answered the phone. He was woken up by the call being forwarded to his phone and sounded frazzled. He said he'd been working at a bar until the early hours of the morning and that his partner was supposed to have answered the phone. Regardless of that weirrdness, he quickly called around and got us a guide before calling me back to let me know when to show up - which was ASAP. It definitely wasn't the most conventional way to book an appointment, but we made it and really enjoyed it!

Such a unique Key West experience that I won't soon forget!…read more I've been paddle boarding numerous times but never on an organized tour. After reading a bit more info on this biz's site, we decided to take an afternoon tour which started at 1:30. SUP Key West also offers morning and sunset tours, but this ended up being perfect timing for us - we could sleep in and let brunch digest before hitting the water. Now, for the tour. Our guides name was Brian, the owner of SUP Key West. Booking online was a breeze and $45 per person. Once we arrived, we met the other two in our group, grabbed some life jackets (optional to wear but must be on the board) and took to the water. I love being active but wouldn't consider myself "outdoorsy." That being said, I don't know too much about the mangroves or the ecosystem surrounding the Keys so this whole experience was really eyeopening. While we drifted through the mangroves, Brian talked about how they were formed, gave more info on the birds we spotted and pointed out the sea life, even picking up and passing around sea cucumbers, jellyfish, sea stars and algae. To top it all off? We saw a nurse shark! His enthusiasm for the environment was contagious and had me eager to learn more. About halfway through, he asked if we had immediate plans and since we didn't, we took the long way home so the tour actually lasted a little over two hours. It wasn't a huge workout until the very end when we were battling some winter wind. By the end of it, I was exhausted. Brian brought along a cooler of water which was nice in case you need some hydration along the way. All in all, a different activity to do while in Key West. This was my boyfriend's first time paddle boarding and left a great impression so hopefully I can get him on the water a little bit closer to home next time. Whether a local or a tourist, I'd say it's definitely worth taking part in.

There are 3 beach areas, a campground/cabins, picnic areas and boat ramps. It's very much a place to relax on the beach and take it easy. Bahia Honda is the tropical paradise that you probably imagine when you think of the Florida Keys. Bahia Honda's beaches--Sandspur, Loggerhead, and Calusa--are one of the biggest draws to the park. Each one is beautiful and worth a visit. Bahia Honda is a great place to swim as the water temperatures are typically warm and the water is shallow. See, it also depends on time of the year, like for us, Sandspur beach was full of seaweed. and i found loggerhead beach to shallow and it was really great to swim over there. while you are here, A fun thing to do is take the quick trail up to the old Bahia Honda Bridge that you can see from Calusa Beach and the very edge of Loggerhead Beach. This is the only trail here and it's a pretty quick walk. The walk is fairly short and you aren't allowed to go far along the bridge as it breaks off at some point. However, you do get to go up high enough to see Bahia Honda from above. The bridge has a great view of both of the beaches. Depending on time of day, you might get a different view. There is little to no shade on the beach. If you are wanting to stay all day, you might want to bring your own umbrella for the beach! Cost: $8 per vehicle, $4.50 for vehicles with one person, $2.50 for pedestrians + cyclists

Bahia Honda means "Deep Bay" and refers to the deep bays of Bahia Honda Key. It is pronounced Bah -EE-ah Own da. It is 30 feet deep which makes it the deepest natural harbors in the Keys. It was established in 1961and is known for its history as part of Henry Flagler's "Overseas Railroad" and is now known as the Overseas Highway. In 1935 there was a huge hurricane that destroyed the railroad. What makes this park so unique is that it is encompasses an offshore island and it sits between Ohio Key and Spanish Harbor Key close to the west end of the Seven Mile Bridge. The park has 524 acres of lush beauty. It is open everyday of the year from 8am - sundown and the fee is $8 per vehicle. Clean restrooms and outdoor showers available. There is so many things to do such as snorkeling, swimming in the gin clear crystal waters, hiking out to the Old Bahia Bridge, birding, camping, boat rentals, a concession stand, rent a cabin, kayak, fishing or visit the nature center. We found parking easily and made our way out on the trail to the Old Bridge. The views from up here are panoramic. After viewing the bridge and the views, we really could not resist taking a dip at one of the beaches. The water was still warm enough to swim in November and it felt fantastic. What I love most about the state park beaches along the Keys are all the marine life you can view while swimming or just walking on the beach. No place like it! If I could give this park 10 stars I would, it is that incredible. Cannot wait to come back again.

The guide told us to not worry as we would get our full time on the water. He was right we spent 2 hours and 10 minutes on the water. Just that would say that they are an honest and above-board company! We took drinks and ice. They had a cooler for us to use. The navy was doing touch and goes from their base. We flew under the jets and it was one of the coolest things that I have done. You could almost reach out and touch the planes with how low that they were flying.
