I love doing karaoke with my grandma and was in choir for five years. I've gotten to learn some techniques over the years, but not the right techniques that would build my natural sound. I've always wanted to improve my singing with professional help, but I always felt scared and insecure of reaching my dream. Until years later I felt ready to conquer that and my grandmother recommended me Marquita. I found Marquita's website and submitted a request for private lessons, and Marquita responded within 24 hours! We talked on the phone about the goals I want for myself and we set a date and time to start. From the first day, Marquita was very communicative and clear as far as where to park and explained her terms and conditions for payment and cancellations (which seemed fair and reasonable to me). Her home is spacious and comfortable. She has some cute cats that sometimes likes to come out and say hi, but for the most part they stay upstairs and hidden. From Marquita's private lessons, she has helped me learned the right techniques for my sound in ways that are comfortable for me, and in ways that challenge myself in the best way. She gave me a file she made of different vocal warm ups that really do help prepare my voice. From her teachings, I've been able to push my voice in ways I didn't know I could even reach to. Also from her knowledge, I've been able to even understand the scientific perspective when singing as well. Even on days when I have stage fright, been hard on myself, or when other problems have gotten in the way, Marquita has been very kind, patient, understanding, and supportive. I also do attend the performance practice with her other students twice a month. The performance practice really helps me feel comfortable with performing, receiving feedback, and having fun with the other students. At first I was nervous to join because of my stage fright, but through the practice and being in a safe environment, it has really helped me conquer it. We give each other feedback and support that makes it easier to perform in front of each other over time. She's been a great teacher, mentor, and friend through this experience, and I'm really grateful for her guidance.

That should have been the first sign i was dealing with a self centered narcissist ? Seeing she had Zero sensitivity to my crucial situation YA THINK ? well it just gets better and better from there , INSTEAD of having the professionalism to email me forms to fill out , she waits till i get to her "CAT HOUSE" to hand me forms so that it would EAT into my $90 , NICE !!! as the hour progresses , i saw that she was very low on the scale of what i'm use to as far as TOP NOTCH REAL actual PROFESSIONAL vocal coaches are concerned ,& SADLY i am humbly scratching the surface here since i still havnt mentioned how rude & abrasive she was while sharply shouting @ me as to how I should park which later on she STATED there's actually no parking allowed ,& next time i'd have to park out on street and walk to her , GREAT !!! BEING the CLOCK WATCHER she turns out to be , She says lesson over & you get no vocalizing since you talked entire time !!! WOW just WOW , i'm wondering why she didn't clarify when i got there , that there's NO talking allowed ? I went to their Grand Opening back in April, and was sold on the spot after attending one of their free trial lesson. I signed up for the month, and have been constantly taking lessons there ever since then. All the teachers were really nice, welcoming, and not to mention truly passionate about teaching young students. They are also really flexible about rescheduling, which is something I appreciate. Being a full time student with also a part time on the side means that life can get incredibly hectic sometimes and I'm glad that they were really willing to work around my schedule. In the past months, I was assigned Mr. Valery Goldes as my teacher and I ve been very pleased with the progress I made so far under his tutelage. Valery is an excellent teacher with very impressive musical background ( I'll be honest and admit that graduating from Juilliard is pretty impressive). He is not only skillful but also very attentive and always finds a way to make every lesson fun and enjoyable. He is also willing to take suggestion and always tried to make sure I'm satisfied with my lesson.
