First and foremost. Dr Corbett and the technicians at Keys animal hospital are unmatched. I have never met better or received better care from any other veterinary office. She does not do more than what is necessary, she is kind, and knows what she is doing. She understands the care I want for my senior babies and goes over all information with me prior to starting or stoping any medications. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the US right now and both my babies are sick and she has called me and communicated with me every step of the way on what to ask for with the vets I'm having to see elsewhere. Keys Animal Hospital has taken wonderful care of my cat Jasmine. She needed surgery to remove part of a cat toy she swallowed. This turned out to a bit of an emergency and both Dr Maddux and Dr Dunn, as well as the techs, were awesome! They not only performed the surgery quickly and successfully, but have gone above and beyond in checking up on her and taking care of her post-op! Very disappointed! I took off half a day drove all the way up to Marathon for an appointment on Friday at 4 PM. Only to find out that they gave me the wrong time and date. While I was making the appointment I was very specific that I could not do it during the week and she said she could do it Friday afternoon. I walked in with my Irma rescue kitty after attempting to call and being hung up on - on a Thursday at 8:20am. Kit Kat has bright red blood in his stool. When I walked in, they immediately turned me away because I did not have an appointment. The waiting room & parking lot were completely empty. Not sure why this is called an Animal Hospital & why they advertise emergency care?! I kindly asked for an appointment, but the women at the front desk we're extremely rude and told me they did not have any appointments & do not accept Walk In's. They told me I could leave my sick Kitty in a kennel for the day, until one of the Vet's has a few minutes to check him out. My husband & I were very disappointed in the way we were treated. It felt like we were being discriminated for not looking like locals, or maybe our young appearance, or could it have been our city accents & European looks. Our 2nd home is in Marathon and we spend a lot of time down here, blogging & sharing the beauty of The Florida Keys on Instagram. Just needed a ear flush while on vacation with dogs, called ahead and first receptionist nice and said no problem to pick up. Once arrive different receptionist very rude and abrasive. Guess they don't care for visitors. I sure wouldn't use if I did live here. read more

I would really like to make this a two-part review, but that's not possible. First, Dr. Dunn is a fantastic vet. We have dealt with several vets over more than 40 years as pet owners and I can easily say that he is one of the best small animal vets we have used. His care and concern for the animals is second to none. Now for the not-so-good. The office staff is terrible. Twice we have gone there for SCHEDULED visits and not been able to get past the front desk, and it's a 60 mile round-trip for us. This morning we arrived on-time for a scheduled and verified (by their own e-mail)visit only to be told we weren't on the schedule and couldn't be seen. This in spite of one worker saying she had seen our chart this morning and put it back in the file because she didn't see us on the schedule. Dr. Dunn, we are very sorry to say goodbye, but we can't tolerate the lack of organization from your office staff. read more

Great vets with super bedside manner. Good, safe place to board your pets (although expensive) if you don't have any other option.

Dr Dunn is caring and compassionate while still being professional! I would not bring my pets anywhere else.

Words cannot begin to express how great this place is. When I moved to the keys in 2016 my kitty started having digestive issues. Dr. Dunn was always very through with her and did a great job explaining to me what was going on. If I ever needed to be seen right away and Dunn wasn't available, the staff always found time to get my cat into see another doctor. Sadly my cat has passed now. She got very sick over the weekend and while the hospital was closed Dr. Maddox was the oncall vet that weekend. He was busy with an emergency surgery, so I ended up taking her to the other vets in town (Marathon Vet, which were also so helpful). I wanted a second opinion on what the new vet said about my cat. Dr. Maddox spoke with me several times that weekend and helped me come to the decision to say goodbye to my furry companion of 13 years. Even over the phone he was patient and understanding. He took the time to speak with a blubbering sobbing mess. After my cat passed, Dr. Maddox explained to me the next steps and I brought my cat to their office for cremation. As I stood there with my little kitty, he again took time to make sure he didn't walk away with her until I had said my goodbyes. This was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, and my heart was breaking. The care and time Dr. Maddox showed to me was greatly appreciated. Long story short... the staff and doctors at Keys Animal Hospital are amazing. The time and effort they show is beyond 5 stars. The time and effort they show after your precious companion is gone was more than I could have asked for. Thank you to the staff for all the care you have shown my sweet princess over the past 2 years. When the time comes for me to get a new shadow, you'll be out vets again. read more
