It's a place where you can find quality parts and surplus parts at cheap prices AND their warranty is exceptionally - "If you aren't happy, bring it back and get your money back." I've done that on a couple of occasions when I had bought some piece on 'spec' that it would fit, but didn't - they honoured their pledge: No questions asked! Now their stores are in many larger Canadian cities and I look for them and spend my free time there when the wife is doing her thing at some girly store - Actually, she sometimes likes to browse there too.

I like this place. I…read moredon't like it as mush as your everyday Canadian Tire, but i like this place. It is the at home handyman, the weekend warriors haven. It has everything, tools, power units (chippers, generators, etc), trailer accessories, welding, the list goes on. The house brand is POWER FIST, and i have mixed feelings on it. The prices seem to be as good or slightly better than the Mastercraft (Cdn tire brand) but i don't feel the quality is on the same field, althoguh close. Do i own Power Fist tools? Hell yeah, for what i do, i usually go with the best price! Yes the place seems like it is in disarray, with stuff everywhere, but spend a little time in there and it makes sense. Although that could be due to my ever increasing insanity. Need a tool for something to do at home, keep this place on the list of places you search. You just may be surprised.

So a few months ago, I was told my oil pan was leaky and that I'd need to get it replaced at some point. Not an emergency, but something to keep in mind. I decided to call Big Bargain's and order the parts for what seemed like a pretty decent price. This was close to Christmas when time and money are tight. "I need an oil pan and gasket for a 2005 Toyota Matrix" says I. "No problem, they'll be in tomorrow", says he. Picked them up and went on my way. My boyfriend had taken off the box with the intention of maybe trying to put them on for me (but thank god he didn't as you'll soon discover). Fast forward a few months when I finally had the time, money and opportunity to get them replaced. Took my car to Cdn Tire in Bayers Lake where as it turns out, a fellow from my hometown is the shop foreman. "I have the parts," says I. "Just need the labour". A few hours later, I get a call to tell me that the oil pan I have is NOT the right part. FFS. OK, so they have the correct oil pan but have no idea what the one I have is. So the bill goes from labour, to labour and parts. GREAT! Miraculously, I found the receipt in the back of my car for the original oil pan/gasket. Head to Dartmouth with my mystery part and hope for the best. The missing box becomes the issue. The missing part # becomes the issue. More or less understandable, except for the fact that they have a much better chance of figuring it out and selling it than me. AND the fact that it wasn't my mistake. It was them or their supplier. Cut to the chase and they gave me back the $ for my gasket (which was the cheap part) but refused to take the oil pan because "what are they supposed to do with it?" HA! What am I supposed to do with it??? The thing that really got me the most pissed off though was the fact that there was an expectation from the guy I was dealing with that I should have some understanding (sympathy) for his situation. He was condescending: "You look confused" said he. None of this was my fault. I trusted that I got what I ordered. And for the amount of money it would have been to accept the return of a clearly never used part, it wasn't worth how this whole experience made me feel. "I don't like pissing customers off, but..." he said. So he pissed me off for $85 and lost a customer for good. The only thing I can do is write this review. And hope someone on Kijiji buys the oil pan. Because otherwise I'm out the money for a part I never asked for. Thanks, Big Bargains. Really good deal.

I had been investigating my options regarding buying a utility trailer. Used, new, single axle,…read moredouble, aluminum or galvanized. My price point was directly related to bang for buck. Almost all used sold by owner that I saw were paint job repair, or priced too high for year and shape. Internet searching came across several trailer distributors. Work and Play had 2 sites. One in Moncton and the other in Dartmouth. I requested a quote for 3 units. Met Gerry the manager in Dartmouth, he walked me through the yard, we discussed what my needs were, and I decided upon a K-series single axle galvanized unit ( that happened to be on sale). There was issues with the inspection but they fixed it quickly and I had it back in less than two hours. Inspection, repairs and tax was only $50.00 they are definitely not out to rip people off, job well done thank you.

I will say the guys at C & R are great,they will do everything to try and help you get the parts. I have bought from them for a few cars now. Mostly break pads to be honest. And no , I did not put them on myself, good grief. They sell quality parts and if they are the wrong ones, will let you take them back. I really like this place.

C & R has helped me on a few occasion with finding parts for my not so new cars that I would purchase. Actually I have even went so far as priming and painting my own vehicles all with the help of these guys. I like the honest here as I really feel that they are not going to overcharge you or sell you something that you really do not require.
