I was told "bring it in no worries, we gotcha" Based on that information, I brought my vehicle in. When I picked it up, I was unexpectedly charged $200 for the diagnosis. If I had been told there would be a fee, I could have made an informed decision before leaving my vehicle. I have no issue paying for services when the costs are communicated upfront, but being told one thing over the phone and charged something completely different is unacceptable. I'm leaving this review so other customers are aware and can be sure to get any pricing in writing before authorizing service. Poor communication and a lack of transparency like this erode customer trust. I won't be returning, and I hope this review helps others avoid the same experience.

I found myself in a bind this past October with my Toyota needing complete brakes (I used the E brake to get it to his shop) front and bake as well as an exhaust pipe Bob found missing & preventing emissions from passing as well as a dozen other things to pass inspection. Needless to say, my budget was limited and time was of the essence due to my work requires travel. Bob did all the brakes, rehabbed the exhaust and took care of the dozen other items on a Saturday afternoon of me delivering it too him. Lastly, Bob and I discussed pricing before he got into everything that needed work and considering the additional exhaust- Bob stayed within 10% of my budget, including inspection. He says I can look at it for free, then give you a fair price and see if you want to do it here. He had an opening because someone else hadn't shown up today. He looked at my car. Took the tires off and told me what was wrong. He let me look at the rotators and I could see how worn-out they were. He gave me a great price for what needed to be done. He also patch a hole in my tire too. I am very happy I pulled into American Brake Service. I feel like I got a fair deal and everyone was super nice. It is great driving away from a mechanic and not feeling ripped off. I would totally use American Break Service again.

My mom, who is 75, came in out of desperation because her car was shaking a lot and the dealership couldn't look at it until the following week. They determined that wheel bearings were the issue, at a cost of $900. My mom agreed to have it done but one wheel bearing was taking too much time, so had one done and decided to leave and get the other done at the dealership. The car was still shaking. She brought it into the dealership, who determined that they damaged all the replaced parts, and that new parts would need to be put in, essentially fixing what Meineke did. They also found that the other wheel bearing was totally fine... and most likely, both were fine. The culprit was just bald spots on tires. Nothing else was wrong with the car. Meineke did pay for the parts, but has yet to refund the service cost or the cost to fix this, which was $1100. So essentially $2000 to have something damaged and then fixed. Meineke also gave her a list of other issues that would need to be fixed. This place was ready to clean her out. Again, the dealership determined literally nothing to be wrong. These guys either have no idea what they're doing, or worse, they do, and they're intentionally scamming people.

Come to find out everything that she didn't need to pass the inspection was pushed on her in a way that seemed it needed to be done in order to pass. They just sat her in the waiting room for 3 hours.
