This KFC is located on Abbott Rd. It has been recently updated. I wish I could rate them higher, but they're inconsistent. We place large orders, whether going thru the drive-thru, or ordering via doordash. Most of the time though, we call ahead, and request they drop fresh chicken, strips, and naked hot wings. In doing that, it ensures our food quality is great, but if it's not a side, it's biscuits they forget to include in our order. Frustrating!

I want about 7pm. The chicken dinner I received was good, except the chicken. Fried out small leg and back piece.

Perhaps the worst KFC chicken I have eaten. It appeared in general that the order was overcooked(an 8 pc bucket) because the wings were dry and dark brown almost black, the thighs were essentially the same. I did notice that the signature KFC flavor was missing, and tasted almost like a rub of sorts. This order, totaling over $50, was no better than the deli chicken I have had from both Fred Meyer and Carr's Safeway. KFC what happened???

This place is horrible. The dining room is tiny and ugly. The bathroom (singular) looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a week. Sticky urine on the floor and the toilet rim, feces, filthy grimy sink. Disgusting. How can people serve food when they can't even wash their hands in a clean bathroom. You come out dirtier than when you went in! The kids at the counter are clueless and unprofessional. They get 2 stars because they didn't screw up my order and it was actually (shockingly) prepared properly. Given other choices, I will skip this location in the future.

So, I started ordering my meal including sides and was told sides are ordered at the next station. No problem. We got the 1/2 smoked chicken and sliced brisket with brisket baked beans and peach cobbler. The employee said the mac & cheese was amazing, so I got that as well. All platters also come with a jalapeño corn bread muffin. They also had a bunch of bbq sauces to choose from. The brisket and chicken were both great. I loved the beans and corn bread too. The peach cobbler tasted a little underbaked to me. I wish it had been crispier on top. The mac & cheese was very creamy but it was extremely salty, and I love salt. A tad less salt and it would have been perfect for me. My husband can't have any of the sides but they will be opening a salad bar, which will be great for him. They are new and seem to run out of some meats quickly but I think that's to be expected at first. They are also spendy but the quality is there and I'd prefer spending extra for great bbq rather than not having any at all! The tables were cleaned quickly and the staff was very friendly. I am already going back in a few days and can't wait to try the ribs and other sides!

We went here because husband expressed a desire, he likes BBQ and smoked meats, for myself, I'm not a fan, and I only went because I thought I could cobble together a plate of sides and be satisfied. He got the brisket plate, ($32) which had brisket, 2 sides and a cornbread muffin. He was asked if he preferred meaty or fatty, he said a mix. I opted for salad and fries. Now for the salad - the side salad (9.95) is a small plate but you can go back multiple times for a refill. The large plate (16.95) is a one time deal. It would make sense to go for the side salad, but husband made me get the one time large plate. I like to dump my fries on my salad. You should try it, it tastes good. The young lady behind the counter was lovely, very chatty and bubbly. So he gets his brisket platter, which to my eye, looked pretty small for $32, he chose Mac n cheese and potato salad for his sides, and the Mac n cheese was a decent sized portion, but the potato salad was in a small plastic cup, a little larger than the ones you'd get a serving of sauce in. They have a shelf with lots of hot sauce bottles, and a little side bar where you get sour cream, jalapeños, pickled onions etc. while we were hovering around selecting items, the young lady told me she'd given me a cornbread muffin, (free) as they were so good! As i make cornbread muffins myself (bacon, cheese and Jalapeno, and they are perfection) I thought it a somewhat lofty claim, but we'll see. If I'm honest, I was somewhat disappointed with the salad bar - I like spinach, I always get that for a salad, but there was lettuce or spring mix, and whenever I have lettuce from a restaurant I get indigestion from it. This only happens with restaurant lettuce (my home grown lettuce doesn't cause this phenomenon) hence why i always opt for spinach. There were no cold meats at all. Some shredded cheeses, black and green grapes, watermelon, beetroot, an olive mix, celery, grape, tomatoes, shredded carrot. Maybe my expectations were high, but we do have a couple of good salad bars in town. Anyway, I smile and select what I will eat. They had ranch, so I got ranch, but no honey mustard, which I wanted. So I had my salad, and he had his brisket plate, but no fries yet. Husband went to the counter to enquire, and was told, we air fry them, we don't use deep fat fryers. So I had to wait a bit for those, and was eating my salad really slowly, because the point of the fries is to scatter them on the salad. Anyway, they eventually arrived, nice and crispy, very shoestring fries, those were good, and a perfect pairing with the salad. The cornbread muffins were fresh and hot, and I ate half, but they were crumbly, and I couldn't really get a solid bite, as they were falling apart. The taste was good though, they had a honey glaze I think. He professed that his brisket wasn't the best he had tasted, but that the Mac n Cheese was good and cheesy, but that the price was a little high for the amount of food he got. I can't fault the staff though, they checked on us often, and were very sweet. If not for them, my rating would be 3 stars.

So it looks like a diner, it feels like a diner, but the eats are far, far better than any diner I've been to in awhile. Fried chicken? You betcha. 3 piece, all dark, side of mashed potatoes and gravy, and cup of their chowder (on a side note, I dare say that all chowder in Anchorage is outstanding!!!). Loved the fried chicken. Delicious. Beautifully fried. I probably could've put a couple dabs of hot sauce but that's only because I like a little heat. Mashed potatoes and gravy (Alaska potatoes are also outstanding!!!) hit the spot. Chowder was so good : super creamy and loaded with seafood and potatoes. Maybe I should've order a small bucket to take back home with me. Both the service and the place was warm and friendly. Sufficed to say, I had a most enjoyable lunch here.

Decided to go here on a Sunday since they are now open for Sunday brunch and dinner. This is our…read morefirst trip. I had called prior to inquire about gluten-free options. I was told that most likely I could have the catfish. But anything smothered most likely not. If you're concerned about cross contamination, this is not the place to be. I opted of course for the catfish and my two sides were sweet potatoes and collard greens. I had to forgo the cornbread or roll that comes with. My husband ordered the same since they did not have ribs on today's menu and his sides were mac & cheese and sweet potatoes with cornbread. He wanted sweet tea, but they were out so we both got the Kool-Aid and the flavor was tropical punch I would assume. Everyone was friendly and accommodating with all my questions. You know from my previous reviews if you can't give me the time to answer my allergy questions then you probably can't take the time to take my money either so I'm not going to eat there. But not the case here. I found that they have beef ribs as well as pork, ribs, and short rib ribs. They have turkey, bacon and chicken, bacon and regular. Shrimp. So those would be the proteins that I can have being gluten-free. Oxtails and any other meat that comes with a sauce or gravy would contain flour. So I could have the shrimp and grits for example. But it's nice to know that I can also get some ribs since I don't eat pork. They also have turkey sausage. The catfish was seasoned great & fried perfectly. My husband felt robbed in that there should've been more fish. As we have experienced more from for example, from a soulful restaurant in Hawaii for about the same price with same two sides as recently as January 2026. We hit that restaurant multiple times while we were in Hawaii because of the portions and the flavor. I felt that the sides were plentiful as they did fill the to go three part container up above the top threshold, which was awesome. So not stingy with the sides. They are also mindful that the juices from the sides could run over into the catfish area and make it soggy so they put parchment paper around the catfish so that when juices go over into that section it does not come in contact with the fish. That is very thoughtful. The collard greens were good. Might need a little more salt or garlic but that's me and how I cook. The sweet potato rounds remind me of the picsweet sweet potato rounds that you can buy versus buying the canned sweet potatoes or using fresh sweet potatoes and then adding your own butter and seasoning to them. I say that because the sweet potato had some kind of aftertaste that I can't put my finger on what that flavor was, but for me it was offputting so I probably won't order those again. My husband, however, felt that he could deal with it. He also tasted the aftertaste of some ingredients that was not cinnamon or nutmeg or butter or sugar, but he would order them again. He really did like the mac & cheese a lot so it's good that they put plenty in the container for him. I of course couldn't have any so I'm going off of his review of that. The Kool-Aid was definitely sweet not white on the "liquid crack" level, but definitely not watered down. If it was any more sweeter, it would definitely be my mom's. So good job done there. They were out of the sweet tea so we will have to try that next time. The restaurant is pretty large in that the tables were spaced out across the area so there would be plenty of space between you and tables. They do have some booths in there. Three flatscreen TVs but only two were on at the time that we came through there. The table that we sat at to wait for our to go order was sticky clean but sticky I didn't go around to test the other tables which I could have because we were the only ones in the restaurant besides a DoorDasher. So I'm hoping that they just didn't clean that one as well versus sticky tables all around. But for cleanliness at first look, it is clean. We came just as the transition from brunch to dinner at 3:00 PM so they did have food in the display area, but catfish was not there so we got ours fresh. They did get the sweet potatoes and the mac & cheese from the displayed containers under the heat lamps they take all forms of payment, including tap and pay. So all in all the experience was good for the most part and we will go back to try other foods so we can review those as far as I can go being gluten-free.

The employee shook his head to indicate they were closed. It took a few weeks but I made my back on Thursday afternoon. And the experience was solid. I started with the chips and salsa. I'm noticing a trend of some places charging for their chips and salsa. What's weird is the places with the most authentic chips often have one complimentary basket. And places like this with a price tag have the store bought variety. But the salsas were delicious (and the hot was even spicy!). I asked for a second mild salsa since the containers were pretty small. The tacos were good. I went for a carne asada and a Birria. The carne asada was on point. Hot and tasty without being salty. The Birria was a bit dry. The cheese helped a little. I removed one of the tortillas and dipped it in the salsas to get a little moisture to it. It made me wonder if consommé is not a norm for Birria. The restaurant was spotless and very nicely apportioned. Lots of seating for a place that looks so small from the outside.

The pictures online looked amazing, the menu looked streamlined and neat. Upon entering it is a super cute place and decorated very nicely. We enjoyed the artwork on display. Everything looked nice and clean, 8/10. Service was attentive and great. She was very quick and polite. No complaints here whatsoever! The food.... We were going to order calamari ($20) to start, but they were out. That's OK! No big deal. I decided we could just start with chips and salsa. This is not a free with your meal chips and salsa like other places but it's a reasonable $5. We received a big basket of tortillas and I enjoyed both red red mild and green hot salsas. The chips were good too. I ordered the chalupa plate ($21) and it came with two chalupas filled with chicken/potato and a side of rice and beans. The rice and beans were good. I liked that it was refried black beans. I got through my first chalupa, moving the lettuce aside to check it out. I noticed my chicken was pre-packed type chicken slices. You know, the kind with "grill" marks you find at Costco that are ready for salads and already cooked. My heart sank. For the price point I was seriously expecting more. It is not difficult to roast chicken fresh and shred it for dishes... My partner ordered the burrito special ($25) and while it was a MASSIVE thing that could feed you 3x easily it was subpar to him he told me later in the car. While I did not partake in dessert I did check out the little menu on the table. While I know the odds of desserts being made in house are low, I always hope so. The desserts here are from Sweet Street Desserts which is a wholesale chain, so I passed. I'm sure they are tasty, but just not for me when going out to eat. Unfortunately I don't think this place is worth the cost of the food vs the quality. They would need to up their food quality and freshness game to bring us back...
