Food is amazing! Their whole entire menu is amazing. You will not be disappointed. Burgers and pastas are sooooo good.

An order of Garlic Parmesan and OG Cajun dry rub... Tucked away gem that does not disappoint (only suggestion is ranch dressing was a bit watered down, but the bleu cheese was on point). The garlic parm' was outstanding. The sauce included chunks...saucy chunks of golden garlic, reminded me of elephant garlic before the big spread. What a great idea. The Cajun rub was great, as well, ordered "hot" and it was the perfect amount of heat, nothing nasty where you just don't enjoy it, just a great blend and representation. Was a Take-Away order and The Wingers were friendly and great conversation upon my arrival. They said 20min...and it was handed over at 19. Loved the "industrial" atmosphere. Ahhh. What a hidden place for some wings. Decided tonight was a great night for some spicy wings. Ended up coming here and they were pretty busy with orders. So if you are in a hurry maybe try them a different time. Ended up getting a 20pc wings of the Original medium and the sweet&sassy hot. Firstly, do not be deterred by the website. They also have a long delivery time, but the food here is pretty good. My family and I ordered from here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised at how well most of the food traveled. We ordered a catfish plate, shrimp basket, and philly. The philly was wrong. It didn't have any peppers or onions even though we ordered it that way. The bread was fairly chewy and there wasn't enough cheese on the actual meat. It was mostly covering the bread. It was also kind of soggy because, unlike the other two boxes there were no holes cut in the corners so the steam built up and caused the bread to absorb all the moisture. However the catfish plate was very good! Very well seasoned, great portion size, and fries were perfect. It even comes with a little side of hot sauce. Which I'm almost positive is the crystal brand. The shrimp was the same. A good amount of shrimp, perfect fries, and comes with fried okra. The okra was fried to perfection! It wasn't slimy or over cooked inside. Salted just enough. The portion sizes on these plates were perfect. I understand I said perfect a ton in this review, but it really was. I didn't ave high hopes after seeing some of the pictures on the website and the menu online. The delivery time put me over. I really didn't expect to enjoy my meal so much but I did. Winky's Wings is somewhat of a hidden gem. Let's start with their wings. They specialize in dry rub prepared wings that are shatteringly crisp while maintaining a juicy center. Definitely try their lemon pepper ones if you love sour/vinegar flavored things. Their cheesesteaks are where it's at though. For so long I've searched for a place that offers the traditional Cheez Whiz over the ubiquitous provolone. Their steak is thinly-cut and while it could've used a little more seasoning, I'm confident that this is the best (or at least most authentic) Philly in Anchorage. Getting it with "the works" is probably the best bang for your buck. I ended up having to wait around a bit for my order but the owner was nice enough to knock a few dollars off the total. It's still a tradition 'round here to order a whole lotta wings on Super Bowl Sunday. My son wouldn't allow those wings to be from anywhere other than Winkys. We placed an order about a week ahead of time. We showed up a few minutes before our scheduled pickup time, and they notified us that our wings were cooking and would be ready right at the scheduled time! I was driving down Old Seward on the way home after studying for a few hours and I decided to stop here on a whim. The place is located in a small strip mall next to a bank and the Texas Roadhouse. Winky's has a small area in the front with a stool and a couple of old-school arcade games as well as some TVs to keep you busy while you wait for your order. The atmosphere and look of the place may look ordinary and unassuming, but like I've stated in previous reviews of Tommy's Burger Stop and AJ's Ribs, don't let the appearance fool you. Winky's Wings is the first wing place I've come across in Anchorage that definitely knows how to make garlic parmesan wings the right way. I ordered a 10 pc. extra crispy with celery and extra blue cheese and when I tried them for the first time, I became hooked. The wings were perfectly crisp without the meat being dry and they did an outstanding job of chopping the garlic and frying it into the wings along with the parmesan. This is how garlic wings are supposed to be made not with the garlic being sprinkled on top after frying them in hot sauce. Celery was fresh and the blue cheese was a delicious complement for the wings. It is a good idea to call ahead when ordering for carry-out as the wait may be a while with delivery orders getting higher priority. In addition to the wings, they have a varied menu of burgers, Cajun dishes, seafood, sandwiches, and salads. Some of the other wing flavors that I intend to try out next time are the Winky's original style, Lemon Pepper, and Southern Fried. Other noteworthy items on their menu that caught my attention as well are the Boss Hog Burger (double bacon, ham, fried egg, American, Swiss, mayo and lettuce for those who want to throw caution to the wind in regards to cholesterol), the Big John Burger (ham, hotlinks, bacon, sautéed onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles), the Winky Bacon Cheese Dog (all beef hotdog wrapped in bacon, deep fried, and topped with cheese sauce...definitely a guilty pleasure), the Catfish Platter (three deep-fried fillets with fries, coleslaw and a side of hot sauce...as a former resident of North Carolina, I sorely miss down-home Southern cooking and I look forward to trying this out), and Winky's Gumbo (traditional dark roux made with trinity, chicken, and sausage...another winner). Service here is friendly and a hidden low-key gem with great food here in town with another good reason to support locally-owned businesses against major national chains. This will definitely be another welcome option for wings during football season or if I feel homesick for Southern cuisine. read more

Burger buns don't get soggy in delivery and the jambalaya spice is perfect! I keep giving Winky's chances because they're the closest wing place to my house, but the convenience isnt worth it. Delivery always takes forever, so unless you want to wait 2 hours for cold, soggy wings, never do delivery. The sauces and dry rubs are, for the most part, pretty good. With the exception of the garlic parmesan. It's a goopy mess. Wings are hit and miss. Sometimes they're good, sometimes theyre way over fried and are tiny little "extra crispy" dry bits. But the biggest reason I wont give them another shot is because their wait times. They consistantly go an hour or more over the time they quote during the order. If you say 25-30 minutes for pickup, and 90 minutes later, I still dont have my food, that's annoying. You do it 3 times in a row, and I'm done. If you're a better planner than I am and want to order food 2 hours before you're hungry, this isnt a terrible option, but theres still better wings in town. read more

After moving back here it's been tough finding a wing place that I actually like and meets my standards. I came across this place, Winkys Wings. I will say I am VERY impressed with the quality and flavor. This is my go to spot and has been for months. Every time I come here they never fair or slack when it comes to quality. I had heard good things for awhile and finally decided to try Winkys. They had delivery available for a small charge which is super helpful on a busy weeknight. We checked the menu out online to get an idea of what to order. Some of the pictures didn't exactly make the food look very good but we decided to go with the shrimp and catfish platters. And we got a Philly cheesesteak with provolone instead of cheez whiz, add mayo, tomato, lettuce. The lady who took the order told me there would be an hour plus wait. I agreed and she gave me the total for the order and said thanks for the business. About an hour and twenty minutes later the delivery man showed up with the food. And it was way better the expected upon first look. The catfish had good seasoning, as well as the okra. The only gripe with any of the seafood platters was that the food had become a little sweaty from the styrofoam containers. The cheesesteak tasted okay. It just didn't come with the mayo, tomato, or lettuce that I had asked for. For the price it was more then enough food to feed my family. Just in the future I may do takeout instead to decrease the condensation on the food and the wait time. read more

Somedays you just want wings. Friday 8 May was that day. I have tried most wing places around town and I'm usually pretty easy to please. Make 'em hot and tasty and I'm happy. Winky's wings did just that. I opted for the 10 peice Hot, Mac and Cheese wedges and chicken nugget basket $27. The nuggets and mac cheese were for my 7 yr son. He loved his chicken nuggets, but was unsure about the wedges. He wanted a more traditional mac and cheese. His mother thought they were sinfully good. Now the wings. I wasn't sure when I ordered whether I should get hot or the inferno. I settled on hot and was glad I did. They were hot enough without being too hot. At some places the hotter the food the worse it tastes. Winkys hot was good flavor and good burn. One more item of note was the fact that Winkys cooked the wings until almost burnt. Cripsy and dried out. I like this. Some people might not. read more

First off, the place is very unassuming from the outside and even more from the inside. However the service was pleasant and the atmosphere wasn't uninviting. Unfortunatly the only seating while you wait for your food is either on two rickety bar stools or out in your vehicle, so in that sense you didn't feel very welcome to sit and "hang out". When it comes to the food it was not bad, however for the price you pay for the wings you don't have very many options of flavors and they aren't the meatiest chicken wings. All in all you can pay the same price for a higher quality somewhere else. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. Ordered wings for the first time. Pick up. Ordered at 720pm, was told it would be about 40-45 minutes, which I thought was a long time for a "Togo wing order" however, thought, well they must be good. Showed up at 8pm ready to pay and wait 5 minutes. Was told, "it'll be 20-25 minutes" are you kidding? That would be over an hour for a PICK UP ORDER! I called to talk to a manager, and they asked my name, and why I wanted to talk to a manager. I said "customer service issue" and they put me on hold. Then they came back to ask for my name (again) and a phone number for a manager to call me back. What a joke. Sorry winkys, but you have disappointed me to the point of not even wanting to give you business or try your wings. It's a shame when places do this. Especially somewhere as small as Anchorage. Decent wings. Average price (10 wings for $13) in a hole in the wall take out place on southside. We got the buffalo and garlic Parmesan. Both had good flavor but the "sauce" for the garlic Parmesan was a thick goopy texture (almost like flavored mayo) and a little off putting. I had to scrape it off to finish my wings. I used to order from Winkies Wings often. Their western burger was absolutely delicious and honestly so was most everything we ordered.after a while for some reason I noticed the man who took my order was rude and seemed short with me on more than one occasion. I always try to be cool when I order and not a crappy customer so I didn't know where it was coming from. The quality of certain side orders started showing up soggy and sometimes downright wet. Finally my western burger showed up with an Extremely unappealing hair right on top of the bun. It was absolutely not hair belonging to anyone in our home so I lost my appetite for Winkies Wings that very moment. I'm actually bummed about it because I used to really like them. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because they don't have dine-in service. Otherwise, the food I had was awesome and exactly what I was craving (I got the 10-piece hot buffalo wings and shared loaded tater tots with my husband). I was craving wings, so my husband and I just dropped in after reading about Winky's online. I was a little surprised, and slightly disappointed, when I read the sign indicating that the food was available via take-out or delivery, as I was really looking forward to sitting down somewhere and enjoying the experience. Fortunately, this did not detour us from going in. During our 20-minute wait (where I could see the staff cooking our FRESH food), we chatted with the owner who is very friendly, personable, and accommodating. I ended up enjoying the experience despite my initial disappointment! The restaurant has a lot more to offer than just wings, and I am excited to try some of their other menu items. I will definitely be going back--or at least I'll be having them deliver something right to my front door. read more
