    Lamb Shawarma Sandwich

I travel to the Middle East and Europe very often, and I'm not sure any of the other shawarmas measure up to this! I ordered a lamb shawarma sandwich. The lamb was moist and flavorful, vegetables complimented it well, hot green sauce also tasted great, and portions are massive at a great price. Not sure what else you'd need, oh and the service was quick and friendly. Bit of advice - I initially went to order through grub hub on Yelp, and it was almost $3 more expensive than ordering in the store with no tip included, so I recommend going in person to order. There are tables to eat, but it's connected to a halal market, and may not be the best date spot, but still a nice casual place not to avoid dining in or takeout.

This is one of my favorite gems in Anchorage. The samosas, biryani, and lamb or chicken wraps are so delicious you can't go wrong with either choice. The wraps are very filling and come with two sauces that complement the flavor of the meat.

You are on Yelp because reviews are important. Between Yelp and DoorDash I have never seen so many five star and outstanding reviews for an establishment. Reviews saying the same thing, you absolutely must try their food. 5 stars is not enough! I ordered at 6 PM on a Friday evening via DoorDash. I received my order within 45 minutes and this is coming from the East side to the middle of Spenard. Everything was hot and delicious. FYI- on DoorDash they are listed as Anchorage Halal Marker (sp?) looks like a typo in there but just be aware so you have the right spot. This review is basically to update and support every good review that's already established. The food is amazing and you must must must bless yourself with a meal from them. The spices are blended immaculately, and it is difficult to stop once you've started plowing through a plate of chicken Shawarma. You won't want to share, you won't be able to eat it all in one meal, and you still won't want to share the leftovers. That's OK don't, it's all for you. I will be ordering again posthaste. I can see this as a once a week staple meal. I am so pleased with the availability of authentic Middle Eastern food of this variety and I hope that our community patronizes and protects this gem!

Absolutely incredible! The restaurant itself may look small and inconspicuous, but the flavors that are packed into the food are big and bold!! Being a family run business, the vibes and service in the restaurant are casual and friendly. It is also connected to a store with all types of goodies! I've only gotten the lamb shawarma so far. It's a flour tortilla filled with veggies, pickles, white sauce (tahini?), and the lamb of course. The flavor of the lamb is unbeatable. It also comes with an extra side of white sauce and a spicy green sauce. The green sauce compliments the shawarma so well. I have nothing but positive things to say about My Shawarma House and I hope to try new items soon.

Mix shawarma plate. So much food for less than 20 dollars.

Large portion and delicious food. Very affordable. Prob feed 2v person with 1 serving. Quick service. Not a fancy sit down restaurant but you get good value and tasty choices. I would come again.

Beef and chicken combo. Ask for more of the sauces. You will thank me later.

Small place but really good food Fast service. Ask for extra sauces and onions to bring the food alive.

This family owned business with delectable food will keep me coming back over and over. The injera bread was fresh and tasty, plus I was able to order more for home at the store next door. The lamb and tangy sauce were full of spices without being spicy. My vegetarian friend was able to get vegetable food that was just as wonderful as the lamb and goat we tried. I am so thankful to the family working with our dietary needs and getting the food to us quickly. The restaurant was quiet and had plenty of seating, plus the connected store was fun to walk around while waiting for our food. I will certainly be back and recommend My Shawarma House both to locals and visiting tourists!

Visiting from LA on work, 2nd time in Alaska and thank GOD I was in the mood for shawarma because this is the best I've ever had. Perfectly spiced, cute and clean little shop connected to the market. I would move here just to eat this everyday. Also can't forget the amazing woman behind the counter, even gave us a nice glass of tea to warm up that is ALSO the best tea I've ever had hahahaha love it!

I have been interested in trying this place since my African coworker has recommended it. (We talk about food a lot at work) The atmosphere is casual and its setup like a qudoba in the front of the house with a warming wells with various meats and toppings and a grill station on the back counter. There is also a back kitchen where the meats apre prepared as well as where they assemble the more intricate entrées. Today I went with intricate because well I tend to flirt with extravagance and like to be adventurous and extra. I ordered the Lamb Injera with no prior knowledge of what to expect. It sounded interesting and so I went with it. Not knowing what to expect I was caught off gaurd when an enormous try a food came out and was place before me. On a circular try the size of a medium pizza I was presented with, what I would later learn, an Ethiopian, Eritrean flatbread made with fermented batter. It was spongy and light with a soft pancake like texture. Atop the bread was the lamb two red stew like mounds of lentil and vegetables. Along with green salad and more injera that was rolled up. Initially I sat waiting for silverware when I realized the Injera was intended to be the vehicle with which I transported the food to my belly. Carefully I unwound aom bread and broke off a piece and gingerly scooped up some lamb and lentils. As I bit into the first bite the flavor combination was intoxicating. I thought I would be put off by the spongy texture of the bread but found the combination to be deliciously delightful. With the floodgates opened I tore into my meal with recklessness and abandon usually reserved for the privacy of my home dining table. But the delicious food wouldn't be denied. The stews offered two diffrent profiles one a more creamy tikka masala type and the other a less distinctive type curry. All of which did its part to elevate and accompany the lamb. My one warning is that as a petite Samoan (5'11 270 pounds) it was way too much food for one person. Either come with back up or be very very very hungry. I also ordered a lamb kebab wrap to go. Two hours after dinner I was ready to sample the Kebab (for the review of course) and relized I made a mistake. The flavor was still great 2 hours old. My stomach still full was groaning from the extra food but my mouth was still wanting to "taste" more of the wrap. It was a tortilla style wrap filled with lamb kebab lettuce tomatoes and pickles and a sauce. It also had two tubs of sauce on the side a green tangy spicy sauce and cool creamy mayonnaise type white sauce. They both were delicious with the kebab. The shocker to me was how the addition of pickles made for a nice tangy briny crunch in the wrap. My only regret is that I dont have enough space in my belly to try everything today! I'm excited to eat my way through that menu and hope to find new favorites. I just dont know what to try next!

Lovely staff and service, adequate seating and casual atmosphere, and amazing food! Wonderfully seasoned dishes, tender meat, and hefty portions that make excellent leftovers. I don't mind going out of my way to eat here.

I love love love this restaurant and the people who own it!…read more I remember when they started Meraki in Eagle River (which quickly became my family's daily destination) then the pandemic hit. Man I was so sad when they had to close their doors. After they had to shut their doors they pivoted and did door dash. Then they were sharing a restaurant with wing n things on boniface (which was weird and I'm sure it sucked to do it with those crazy ppl lol) But now they have a reopened their own restaurant on the south side! (Which sucks because its soooo far from me) But to watch this family, get back up, again, and again. All due to their integrity and commitment to make quality Greek food here in Alaska! Amazing place, and the Phoenix is best choice for your logo!

I would give this place more than five stars if possible!…read more I'm an absolute fiend for middle eastern and Mediterranean food. I grew up on gyros and when I travel, I often gravitate toward that style of cuisine. So when I say this is THE BEST chicken souvlaki I've ever had, I don't say it lightly. The chicken is extraordinarily tender and so well seasoned. The tzatziki is delicious. The sumac onion and lemon wedge are just the cherry on top. My personal preference would've been for a salad instead of fries for the platter ($26), but I also didn't ask for it, so that's on me. Dad had the spicy pork yerro ($19), and said it was "awesome." A combination of flavors you don't get often, and tasty to boot. We polished off the meal with the largest piece of baklava I've ever seen ($15). It sits in an orange blossom honey and is just as tasty as it looks. Dessert is definitely on the pricy side - we could've gotten outta there pretty reasonably without it. I'll be back to try more of the menu. Their dips look incredible and the halloumi yerro is on my must-have list. Service was decent but depended on the dining room and takeout situation since there's only one server. I loved the response I got when I called about their hours earlier. (The menu photos show a 7:30pm close while Yelp indicates 9:30.) The answer? 9-10 "depending on the meats." Hope these guys stick around because the food is incredible. Highly recommend!

A Culinary Delight at Everest…read more Located on Old Seward Highway, Everest stands out as a beacon for lovers of Indian cuisine. As soon as you step inside, you're enveloped in an ambiance that exudes warmth and authenticity, accentuated by traditional décor and soothing music. The waitstaff was impeccably dressed, inviting, and friendly. The menu is a delightful journey through India's diverse tapestry of flavors, and a buffet is available during the week. From the moment we took our first bite of the food, the rich spices and freshly grilled notes were simply mesmerizing. The butter chicken was a showcase of culinary mastery -- tender chicken in a creamy, tomato-based sauce that was perfectly balanced. The garlic naan bread was so delicious, we ordered a second basket! For those seeking something unique, the lamb biryani was an absolute revelation. Aromatic basmati rice layered with succulent lamb, enriched with saffron, was the star of the evening. Every dish is crafted with such care that it tells a story of tradition and passion. What truly sets Everest apart, however, is its impeccable service. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to enhance your dining experience. They guided us through the menu perfectly, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring that our glasses were never empty. In a world where dining out is often about convenience, Everest restores the joy of eating out with its exquisite food, charming atmosphere, and attentive service, while still catering to those seeking a quick meal by having a drive through. They did an impressive job of making all of the food taste authentic, not your typical bistro or fusion master of none style menus. We ordered butter chicken, pho rare steak, basket naan, chicken biryani, and chicken korma. The pho was phenomenal, just like in Vietnam, with an average portion of meat, overall very large portions and great flavor. The butter chicken was soupy and tasty, plenty of chicken, and large enough for anyone to be satisfied. I'm not typically a fan of biryani, but the chicken biryani had the perfect amount of spice, and almost addicting taste and heaping pile of food, enough for 3 meals! I did not like the chicken korma, but my wife loved it - with a unique yet non spicy flavor. The naan basket was also large, with 3 flavors of naan. Overall, the only negative thing was limited parking in the winter, otherwise I will definitely be back!
