We have loved this place for over a year now ! We as wine club members enjoy our complimentary glass of wine on a date night and come out for al the fun events like the annual chili cook off and Christmas stroll. The view is breathtaking as well as the company. This place provides a perfect get away from the big city and a great family feeling. We will continue to come back and recommend it to anyone who lives a good spot to relax and have a glass of wine. Gail and Kenny (the owners) are down to earth and run a unpretentious winery. I enjoy sweet wines and their "Cadet" wine was my favorite. On a sunny day it would be a great peaceful place to spend the afternoon. It has plenty good wine, outdoor games and seating. well worth the drive. On a separate note I went on a rainy day and we walked inside to find Kenny and Gail's visiting family inside. They were some of the nicest people I've ever met. The owners, Kenny and Gail are an amazing couple. Kfire is the result of many hours of their passion and love and years of planning. They are not new to the Texas wine industry. They previously owned Lakeview Winery and Tasting room. Their dream though was to have their own space, production site, and vineyard. Which led them to break ground and open Kfire. They have a small tasting room, production pad, and have planted several rows with different varietals. The local wine aficionados are most excited about the Tannat that they planted. They also have a beautiful outdoor stone campfire circle, made out of the limestone they displaced when planting their rows of grape vines. The tasting room is small and quaint. Kenny is a retired fireman, and you will find touches of former fire fighting equipment and artifacts throughout the tasting room. There is also a nice selection of cigars for purchase. You can do a tasting of five wines of your choice from their vast selection. They have three whites, a couple reds, and a variety of fruit wines to select from. I think the tasting was $10-15. If you buy two bottles of wine, they will waive the tasting fee. The bottle prices are reasonable. Currently their wines are made from grapes sourced from Texas and other states. They utilize some varietals in their blends that are not common to find. It was great to experience something different. All of their wines were OK, except their Viognier was my least favorite. The wines are approachable and ready to drink now. The whites are on the drier side, and have a nice bright acidity profile to it, which makes it pair well with food. My favorite of the red was the Spotted Dog, a blend of Cab/Merlot/Montepulciano. Out of the fruit wines, I enjoy the refreshing and bright Rhubarb wine called the Cadet. It tastes like a great rhubarb strawberry pie, that is tart and light on sugar, and not too sweet. The also have two other fruit ones to select from, the Tropical Isle, and Texas Brigade (Blackcherry). They also have a small selection of three different food items to select from. Just happened to visit here because we didn't want a long drive for a winery visit in a beautiful day. Gail and Kenny welcomed us as we began our tasting. The wines are light and lovely and the experience definitely one we will repeat. We joined the wine club and had a glass sitting out on the wonderful patio overlooking the vineyard. This hidden gem on the western side of US HWY 183 in Bertram is worth your wine trekking travel stop. Owners Gail and Kenny Fowler opened their tasting room five years ago. Long time Texas wine fans might remember them from the Lakeway Winery at the Oasis. Retired firefighter, Kenny, developed the theme for the winery and the décor with firefighter paraphernalia such has a fire hydrant out front, and interior walls decorated with fire patches, helmets and even some firehoses curled up on the floor. Not to mention that many of the wines' names are firefighter related. Their grapes and juice are sourced from the Texas High Plains as well as from other areas across the state. There is an A-to-Z selection from white, rosé, red, and sweet wines. On this visit, we started off with the two whites on the menu, both of which will help quench a very hot Texas summer thirst. The Viognier is dry and crisp with a bit of oak on the nose. The 2019 Engine 12 is a Rhone style blend of Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne. It is very well balanced and floral with some citrus notes and a bit of oak on the finish. The Rescue Rosé is Cinsault based and will fill your palate with fresh ripe strawberry and black currant flavors - a wine great to sip or pair with a variety of food options. For the reds, we started with the Engine 39. This red beast is a Barbera with rich cherry and blackberry notes and a hint of vanilla. The wine had good tannins and acids (should pair nicely with meaty pasta dishes). We tried the Cabernet Franc called The Specialist. Cherry and plums dominated this red gem. Most everyone knows how dominant Tempranillo is in Texas wineries and the 2019 Ignite is their take on this Texas varietal. It is quite bold, with firm tannins, bright acids, and plum aromas with a bit of nut on the finish. Bring on your best ribeye with that monster! For the sweet wines, check out the Cadet. It has a rhubarb flavor with strawberry bouquet and makes a light sweet summer sipper. For port lovers, they save the best for last with the Extinguisher. Twelve years in the making (part barrel and bottle aged), this crown jewel is rich in pecan, caramel, and dried fruit. On the horizon, they should be releasing a Sangiovese in the future. With a very nice quiet setting in the country overlooking the vineyard, this is a good spot for chilling and sipping. Check them out when in the area or planning a wine outing and be on the lookout for their food wine dinners. Always a treat to find new wineries and tasting rooms, so explore and enjoy! read more

Giving this winery 3.5 stars. Pros: Friendly knowledgable staff, good wines (i tried Cab blend and Sangiovese-both quite good. The Sunday we were there, they had a sax player who was very good. They also had a food truck with so.e delicious Cuban food. I was not impressed with the washer and horseshoe pits. My recommendation would be to hire a landscaping firm to upgrade these areas. There is not much else to look at so some landscaping seating and shade would go a long way. Also, the food truck service was very slow. My last comment is that the bottle prices seem high so I didn't buy any wine. I hesitate to mention this however as the wine was good and I have no understanding of what the owner's cost is to produce. read more

This is one of my favorite wineries! The owners Kenny and Gail are amazing people. I literally drive from San Antonio up there and drink wine, enjoy the day, and see Rescue (their vineyard dog). Haven't had a wine I don't like and their events they have periodically are great too. Definitely worth a drive to visit and check them out. read more

Kfire winery and vineyard is my top winery that i been too. The customer service can't be beat and no matter what type of wine you like you will find something in either whites, reds or the sweets. I cant say 1 bad thing about kfire! Im pretty picky with wine and when we went here i fell in love and we became members that day. read more

A quaint winery started by an amazing couple, Kenny and Gail Fowler, located just north of Liberty Hill in Bertram off 183N and County Road 212. Kenny is a retired firefighter and thus the inspiration for the name of the winery. A great wine tasting and overview of the facility was awesome. Looking forward to the "Winetastic Affair" (a wine/food pairing) on Sept 22 between 3-7.
