He claimed that he just lost his grandmother, who lived with him. I didn't believe a word he said! I think he was using that tactic to get me to back off. He told me that I was putting him under stress and he was doing only doing what he was told to do. I would be happy to talk with the winemaker and I hope I can discover the person who directed him to not provide good customer service. This winemaker who has such strict rules cost this winery to lose business! So sad.

We got the fig and prosciutto pizza (had feta and balsamic glaze on top) and it was decent. It would have been better with some arugula on top! It needs a little bit of savory for it to not lean too far into a dessert pizza. Very much appreciated they made the food in-house compared to some of the other wineries in the hill country.

Hands down the best paella we have ever had! That's another review though! LOL The Horne family that owns and runs 7 Creeks are great folks. Always stopping by to visit (when they can, it stays pretty busy on weekend days), and they're all willing to talk about how they make the wine, wine and food pairing, etc. They offer some food items, e.g., charcuterie board, Fat Boy Cheese and crackers (if you haven't had Fat Boy cheese, you gotta get you some of that-- delicious!). And, they welcome you bringing your own food. It's a good place for families, usually quite a few there, plenty of room for kids to run around and exhaust themselves! :-) 7 Creeks usually has live music on Saturdays, and often has special menus cooked and offered by Jerry Horne, he is a fantastic cook... gumbo, street tacos, etc. Well worth your time to stop by the winery in Burnet, TX. It's still as gorgeous as I remember it. The cafe/restaurant is now a full blown dining experience. There is a calm and serene butterfly garden. Tasting room inside. Stone House sits high above Lake Travis and provides beautiful views as you sip their Texas wines. Here you can enjoy their Australian or Napa inspired wines either in their AC cooled lounges or residing in one of their Adirondack chairs and enjoying the view. One of our Favs is the 2019 Angela's Wish Barossa Valley. This a Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz red blend. This is a very complex wine with a strong tannin finish. I love a good Malbec and their 2022 Malbec Napa Valley is good err great. It pours dark ruby red with an oak finish. Stone house offers wine tastings, a chef's five course pairing, and a deep dive wine master class. They do have weekend grilling, themed dinners, and a very interesting menu to accompany your wine. How we hadn't been to the oldest winery in Fredericksburg (established in 1976!) is beyond me. And, was a little worried about some of the reviews that it would be more of a sweet wine tasting spot. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. The winery is set away from the "main" area of Fredericksburg, but a quick trip in/out of town (about 15 minutes) once you are there. The tasting room is only open on Saturdays or by appointment. We were greeted by one of the owners and she was very hospitable - she asked our preference of wines in general and tailored the tasting to that. We had 6 nice-sized tastes each for FREE. And, we were impressed with the wines to buy a bunch to bring home (if you buy six bottles, you get 10% off). It's a small tasting room but a beautiful property and setting at the end of a private road. Our tasting included Oberhof Chardonnay, Dry Riesling, Late Harvest Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Oberhof Mead. I generally do not like Chardonnays, but this one was very good. While this may seem a little out of the way, it's well worth the stop based on our experience and I hope to return when back in the area!
