Came to Dr. Khanna because of high online reviews. Working in the medical field I have never been a witness to such poor bedside manner. I was astonished by how passive aggressive he was during the entire visit. During translation he said that the translation could take place at home. He seemed annoyed that time was being taken to translate to the patient. There was questions since he ran out of the room and I could hear him telling his assistant that we had to wait because we'd already taken so much time and the room needed to be cleared for other patients. No compassion, no patience. Never going back to this office again. No internet research was done and questions came from a desperate patient seeking care and compassion from a condition that's been dealt with for years. If the patient says a pain is unbearable it is not the provider's place to say "I doubt it" and dismiss it. THAT is offensive and rude. I was diagnosed with kerataconus when I was 19 years old. I had had spotty vision since I was 11, but was able to correct with contacts/glasses. With the kerataconus, I was unable to wear any kind of contacts because they were very uncomfortable. I stuck to glasses and dealt with my vision, which got progressively worse. In 2008 I decided that I had to do something about my kerataconus. I was browsing the web and found Dr. Khanna and a procedure called InTacs. Within a month (maybe less!) I was having the procedure done. When one of my InTacs came out a few months later, I was taken care of immediately, and had a replacement one put in a few months after that. Dr. Khanna and his staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. I am always greeted with a smile from the Dr. when I go for my follow-up appointments. Booked a consultation, 2 days later I was in surgery, 1 day later I have 20/20 vision, 1 day later I'm doing Runyon Canyon seeing perfectly! I was amazed at how quick recovery is. Dr Khanna and his team are very thorough and tested my eyes a million different ways on different days to make sure my prescription was perfect. On the day there was about 30 mins of more eye tests to get the prescription right, then the eye cleaning. This is the only bit that hurts. It's some cleaning stuff that dribbles into your eyes to make them clean, and it stings. It's bearable though! The actual procedure is probably more low-key than you would think. Was about 5 mins per eye and no pain. After the surgery I couldn't really open my eyes. So I kept them shut for the next few hours. For that 3 hours my eyes were not feeling great, but after the 3 hours the discomfort was gone and I could open my eyes a little to eat dinner. Next morning I could see great. Eyes felt a little dry in the morning but by the afternoon I had forgotten I had surgery the day before. Amazing. The next day I'm doing Runyon canyon seeing like never before! So stoked with the results. Turns out I got better than 20/20 vision. So in summary it's such a short term mild discomfort for amazing benefit. It's basically 24hrs and you have the rest of your life to enjoy perfect eye sight. Only a few days after surgery I was saying how worth it it is. I looked at a lot of surgeons for my Lasik and considered the priciest ones I could find. I saved up the money for well over a year and looked for a good doctor that entire time. I had a specific surgeon in mind who had come recommended by several close acquaintances but when I went in for my consultation he had raised his price to $6800, completely non-negotiable. I looked around and was about to bite the bullet on that insane price when I found Dr. Khanna. His recommendations weren't from people I knew personally but everything I read about him was glowing. Dr. Khanna's price was more reasonable and his credentials were excellent. I still didn't have enough saved up to pay his fee but when I explained that I had been saving for such a long time his office worked with me to find a fair price I could pay without saddling me with credit card debt. In gratitude I don't think I should say exactly what I paid but I am extremely confident that there is simply no way I would ever have found a better surgeon at a lower price. I was not a great candidate for Lasik but my procedure went well anyway. My contact lens prescription was -6.25 with astigmatism in one eye and -6.75 in the other, which is near the upper limit of what can be corrected with Lasik. Also my cornea is slightly thinner than normal (which means there is less substance that can be reshaped) and my eyes are slightly dry. All of these things meant my surgery would be riskier than most. (I would have worried that this report was an attempt to scare me away from cheaper surgeons or talk me into add ons but they didn't try to up-sell me on anything and the other surgeon I consulted with said the exact same thing) Even with the added risks I trusted that Dr. Khanna could do it, and I am extremely glad I did. It took a while but eventually my vision got to be better than it was with contacts. I had been warned that I had a high risk of seeing "halos", rings of light similar to those I saw without glasses, around bright lights after the procedure. These are common in people with light eyes (mine are blue) and high degrees of correction and for some people they last forever. For me it was much worse than most. I couldn't drive for the first few nights, even though daytime driving was fine the next day. This worried me for weeks but Dr. Khanna assured me it would get better. After a couple months they stopped being noticeable and one night I realized they were completely gone. Now it has been over a year and my vision is noticeably better than it was with contact in all light conditions and at all times of the day (I don't have to worry about my contact drying out after 10-12 hours like I used to.) I highly recommend Dr. Khanna to all my friends who ask about Lasik. I am very grateful for how much the procedure has improved my life. I came to Dr Khanna on a referral from a friend without looking into Lasik or other doctors to extensively. I was naturally nervous but knew that years of spending money on contacts and glasses, the headaches and dry eyes from contacts needed to stop. In my free consultation I was sold! Dr. Khanna is the best! I was VERY nervous going into this process. My sister had previous had Lasik and experienced a lot of problems (done by another doctor). It took me 7 years to decide to begin this process, and I am so glad that I did! Due to my apprehension, we decided to proceed with SuperLasik for me. This process is extremely safe, and eliminates the need to cut into the lower layer of the cornea. A good doctor shouldn't have to plaster his office with magazine covers, no-name celebrity endorsements, and lame awards. The first thing he asked me as a new patient, who has mild kerotoconus, was "what insurance do you have?".... "oh, ok, they won't cover surgery". End scene. Also, another great line he had was "how do you want me to help you?" You're the doctor, you tell me! He lacks the knowledge and skills to be performing any type of surgery. His goal is to capitalize on laser surgery, not what is in the best interest of his patient.
