Local Viet & Thai food in Paris. We were recommended to come here by a friend. They don't have menus in English so you'll have to do a google photo translate. We ordered the shaking beef (loc lac), pad see ew, and the nem tadeua which is a crispy rice salad with pork. My fave was the nem tadeua. It comes with lettuce which you can eat it like a lettuce wrap. I loved the crispiness and it was quite good. For dessert we got taro flan and tapioca pearls with coconut milk and mango. I LOVE Thai food and being from California, I've been blessed to have plenty of it. I came to Kheak & Vero shortly after my flight landed and desperately wanted to like this place. While my friend and I were walking by, we ran into one of the staff members sitting outside and had a small conversation with him which made us even more excited to try the food. I ordered the vegetarian Pad Thai and a Thai tea. Unfortunately, both were a disappointment. Normally, Thai tea comes with condensed milk in it but this one was lacking that. Not only that, but it tasted like bottled iced tea that was being passed off as real Thai tea. Perhaps the Pad Thai was prepared in different manner than I am used to but I found it to be far from enjoyable and although I specifically asked for it to be vegetarian, I still found a piece of chicken in it. I was just incredibly disappointed with my experience here. I will say that everyone who worked here was very nice and I really wish I could give this place a higher rating. read more

I really haven't been this convinced by a biz to give 5 stars to for a long time! Everything about our experience was a 5 star and it was a great night in an unpretentious and casual setting with very high quality food making it my dream type of place. Here's my top tips: * Wonderful cooking with fresh ingredients - the 'grandmas homemade recipe' sausages for starter was fantastique! The Thai Green Curry and Sticky rice was just as good for main. * The restaurant was a great setting - intimate and not fussy but with a mixed Parisian/Asian charm * Wine by the carafe was cheap, plentiful and tasted great! * absolutely loved the personable and witty biz owner who really was the icing on the cake. Hidden on a side street off the Canal St Martin, this newish family restaurant serves up truly scrumptious Thai/Vietnamese specialties. I've tasted everything from the Pad Thai, Bo Bun, Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, Sauteed Chicken with Green Peppercorns to the Thai Beef Salad and Spring Rolls and can say that everything is delicious, fresh, and super copiuous in quantity. My only recommendation to management would be to amplify the spice, since the flavours are a little flat at times and could use an extra kick. Four friends visiting Paris, France from California in the USA. Tonight we specifically sought out Thai Food for dinner and found this quaint place. We all agreed this restaurant deserves a 5 Star. We were all so impressed with the quick seating even though it's a small place, the fast service after ordering, the very friendly staff whom are all related and the excellent tasting food! We were not disappointed at any of the dishes and in-fact became more and more pleased as the dishes kept coming! Kind of on the pricey side but worth it! They have quite a selection for veggie heads. I wish I tried the veggie pho. I ordered the Bang cuon and this was extremely different or maybe I noticed it on other viet menus. It's sort of like a rice wrap with stuffing swimming in fish sauce. It's nice and light for the people that eat constantly like me. My friend ordered the spicy pho and loved it. The staff is extremely friendly but there seems to only be one waiter so the service is slow. read more

This place is awesome! I took my family to this restaurant as a result of the Yelp reviews and was extremely impressed with everything. The service was fantastic, with the owner going out to buy us a particularly good red wine from the South of France to compliment the meal. The food suggestions were equally wonderful. I'm vegan and they made me a vegetable red curry even though it wasn't on the menu. They have a good range of vegetarian options on their menu too for anyone wondering. The portions are large and everything tastes exactly as it should. Try the green papaya salad for a great starter (just make sure you get it fish-sauce-free if you're vegan)! This is a family run restaurant and everyone is charming and affable. Really positive experience for us. I'll be back here definitely. read more

After a long day in Paris, we were looking for something to eat near our Airbnb. After some aggressive Yelping, we decided to hit up this spot. We were greeted immediately upon walking in and of course were outed as being Americans! The owner was super friendly and gracious. After speaking with him a bit, come to find out his sister lives in the San Gabriel Valley! The restaurant was pretty packed for a Sunday night and close to closing time. After eating there I can see why. The delicious pho! Broth was much more developed than even the pho I've had back home. Another reviewer described this place as tourist friendly but not touristy which I would absolutely agree with. We were tired from walking the city and traveling in general, and we needed some good, ol' fashioned, comfort, Thai food. The restaurant is intimate, tourist friendly (but not touristy), and family-run. We were greeted by a supremely helpful server, and watched the restaurant quickly fill-up, after just a few minutes of being there. Dining in Paris as a non-French speaker on holiday is often intimidating and challenging. Not here. The servers were very friendly - my original server didn't speak much English, but I was never made to feel bad about it; he went and found a server who understood a bit more. The owner checked on me afterward and was extremely gracious and kind. The pad thai mixto with shrimps and veggies was super fresh and delicious! 25cl of house wine is 5 eur, very reasonable prices. Ate here on my first and last night in paris. im not the biggest fan on french food but i LOVE thai, and this was Very Good thai (not to mention the waiters were absolutely charming) Altho i dont speak a lick of french and the staff didnt speak english, this was a bit easier in translation since i know a bit more about thai food to begin with so ordering wasnt a huge problem (when all else fails just point) I started off with a bowl of soup, the one with chicken in coconut milk. it was soooooo good. i got it the second time i returned. First night i ordered the pad thai mix with shrimp and vegetable. the portion was huge and it was very delicious. it could have been a bit more spicy but i added hot sauce and it was on par. the second night i ordered Pork bun bo (i think thats what it was called) It was more of a vietnamese dish over vermicelli with friend spring roll. that was well was very good. First night for dessert i tried the tapioca, which was interesting, i never had anything like it. Second night i had two scoops of ice-cream. The icecream was SO GOOD. i dont know what it is with asain restaurants but they always have the BEST ice-cream, also got a 50ml of wine for 13 euros which to me was a VERY good deal. i left pretty tipsy and extremely full/satisified. if and when i make it back to Paris. i Will be back, for the food and to get the waiters number. read more

Stayed in Paris wanted some non bakery stuff, discovered this Thai place around the corner from our hotel. Spring Rolls were excellent, from past reviews it seemed there might of been a language barrier but waiters there spoke English and communicated well. Food wasn't bad ordered a pad thai and a pho. Doesnt compare to NYC thai food but it was a step up from what we had been eating. Very fresh veggies used and very nice service makes it a must visit if you want something else besides a quiche or a croissant. read more

My boyfriend and I checked out this place tonight after finding it on Yelp, and it more than lived up to expectations. The food was really good -- we had the tom kha kai soup, and then a pad thai and a curry, and it was all *really* stellar. The waiter was also really friendly -- he asked us about our trip to Paris, where we'd been so far, gave some recommendations for things to see, etc. Only slight hangup was that there's no menu available in English, but our waiter was very happy to accommodate / translate as necessary, and most of it was fairly obvious if you're familiar with Thai or Vietnamese food. Was sick of all the restaurant/cafes in Paris that just served cheeseburgers and salad. I needed some vegetables!!! We had the pad see yew and a chicken and vegetable stir fry, both were great. Well priced and very tasty. The staff members were all very friendly and were happy to help us through the menu which was a pleasant surprise as we have found a lot of the waiters treat us horribly because we aren't French. I had a wonderful meal here my first night in Paris, only a block away from my apartment. The two guys who run the place are friendly, and the food was delicious. I started with a carafe of wine, and they brought me a little plate of splcy peanuts while I thought about what to order. I ended up settling on a red curry with chicken. If you want rice, you order that separately - it does not come with the dish. So, I ordered the sticky rice (though i need not have - the dish was plenty!). The curry came in a big bowl, and had lots of vegetables (bamboo and zucchini, if memory serves) covered in a wonderfully delicious coconut-milk curry. I also noticed a lot of other people around me ordering the specialty of the house, which was a bowl of noodles with other things in it - definitely not pad thai, perhaps called bo bun? It looked more like a ramen without lots of soup, and people really seemed to be enjoying it. This is a wonderful neighborhood place, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for some good thai food. read more
