Stopped into Khepri Cafe when in the area over the weekend. They had some great latte flavor options that I haven't seen before. They use local coffee beans (Hexe Coffee) and chai concentrate (Freeman House Chai). They have a small merchandise section by the ordering counter and then a seating section on the other side. I ordered the Rosemary Juniper Latte which was earthy in a positive way. The drink was not sweet by any means and reminded me of a coffee version of gin. My husband got the Chai Latte which was well balanced but leaned slightly to the spiced side over sweet. Both drinks at 16oz came to $13 which I thought was fair. i was very excited to try this coffee shop! although it wasn't memorable, it definitely is a nice place to sit and get some work done while having a salad or one of their breakfast toast option. They have a lot of vegan options, as well as CBD drinks and other things such as bitters, cook books and mugs and candles. the baristas working were very sweet, i always appreciate when they don't rush you as you look at the menu. I got a cold brew and my partner got a matcha. The matcha was very bitter and watered down unfortunately, but the cold brew was refreshing. they pride themselves in using local ingredients and products, so the beans were from Hexe coffee. I would come back, especially if i'm getting off the train right there. I'll make sure to try their specialty lattes next time. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised to find Khepri Cafe -- and RIGHT next to the Kedzie brown line stop makes it the perfect place to grab a coffee before hopping on the train! My favorite thing I ordered here was the regular breakfast sandwich. It was DELISH so gooooood. It had a sauce that made it a bit more unique than a basic breakfast sammie, and I really liked it! Admittedly, the cinnamon roll muffin thing was kind of dry/bland, was missing the gooey cinnamon filling but the frosting was good. I maybe ate about half of it. There's also tons of stuff to look at while you wait - they sell all kinds of fun home goods, accessories, and little snacks/treats including CBD chocolate! Definitely will be back! read more

While my car was being serviced, I was adventurous when I discover this great spot. I had the best chicken sandwich with Chutney. I also enjoyed a small side salad with the best hot chocolate ever. What can I say...this place is a gem. On a recent visit to Chicago to see my oldest daughter who's in college, the girls and I searched online for a new breakfast spot that offered smoothies and also healthy breakfast options that wasn't far from Ravenswood and found Khepri Cafe. Upon entering you could tell quickly this was the goto cafe for many local students. There were study groups and individuals with laptops out and books spread about. They offered a variety of seating options for small groups of 3-4 people or for individuals and a cute seating area with side tables for small chat. The menu options were very healthy and fun. We ordered an amazing pear toast, and a smoothie. All the items we received were amazing. I would definitely go back! read more

LOVE this place! It's hidden on Kedzie, west of where the brown line crosses the street. I'm always looking for new places to work remotely and this has quickly become my favorite spot. The staff are super cool, friendly, and helpful. I ordered "The AOC" just to be silly, TBH, and it was one of the best handcrafted drinks I've ever had in my life. I've not tried any other drink yet, because all I can think about is that drink when I'm on the way there. I love that they serve all their drinks is actual mugs (even for 16oz drinks), not throw away paper cups. I've also had the breakfast sandwich and my wife the blueberry whipped feta toast, which she loved. The wifi is strong and the atmosphere is great. Their 'Michelle Obama' is the best coffee drink in town so far with its rosemary, orange, and pepper flavors, none of which overwhelm the taste of, again, the best coffee in town so far. And the Khepri mushroom sandwich is a big stuffed delight full of roasted veggies and tangy goat cheese. I finished it in five bites though and it probably shouldn't cost $12. I'm not sure how they do it, but despite being pressed close enough to the ground-level Brown Line that you can almost reach out and touch it from the front door, you can't really hear the noise from inside. Whoever their sound isolation guy is, I want to hire him for my home music studio. EDIT a week later: Just kidding, their AOC (cayenne, espresso, cajeta - cajeta with goat milk, as it should be!) is now the best coffee drink in Chicago. read more

Khepri is a nice little neighborhood cafe worth a stop in. The space is bright and sunny, and you're welcome to stay to dine-in with proof of vaccination. The staff was friendly, helpful, and more than adept with a panini press. The menu is vegetarian and vegan-friendly, which is always a plus. I ordered a mushroom melt and dirty chai. The sandwich was very tasty, with the red peppers adding a nice brightness to complement the more savory elements. It came with a little side salad, which was tasty as well. The dirty chai was only okay, more of a coffee latte with a faint taste of chai. I love that they serve on reusable plates with real utensils! A darling of Albany Park, this cafe is tucked right next to the Kedzie brown line and is a GEM! They do not mess around about their matcha, avocado toast, or other vegan options. I've only ever done minimal work here, but the atmosphere is great. Perfect amount of cozy but also (and I mean this in a good way) sterile? Professional? Good stuff The staff are friendly, remember your name, and provide excellent service. Khepri Cafe is a delightful, bright, relaxing coffee shop with a small but mighty vegan menu. Khepri Cafe is located immediately adjacent to the Kedzie Brown Line stop. It's a peaceful oasis amidst all the craziness of the businesses that line Kedzie. I didn't even hear the El going by. I especially appreciated the food at Khepri because I stick to a vegan diet. A lot of places may have one vegan selection -- usually just a slab of tofu on bread -- and that is not only totally unsatisfying, but lazy. Khepri had a few selections and, according to the menu board, will substitute Just Egg and vegan cheese if requested. Of course, there are also menu items for the vegetarians and carnivores, but since I don't eat those, I can't describe them for you. On recent visits, I've had the smashed chickpea sandwich, nut butter toast, and the roasted veggie press sandwich. You order at the counter, and someone brings the food to your table. The sandwiches are served on a real plate, with real silverware -- no plastic. Little details like this elevates a meal, just a little. It shows that the kitchen cares about presentation and about the customer's dining experience. All plusses to me, and they certainly make a simple meal a little more special. The lunch sandwiches come with a side. I had chips once, and a side salad another time. The nut butter toast is a breakfast sandwich, and does not come with a side. There are vegan baked goods as well. I took a trail mix scone for the road and had it with my morning coffee the following day. It was really good. The oat milks lattes are good, too. Prices are reasonable. The lunch sandwiches came in just under $10, and the nut butter toast was, I think, $6.75. Khepri Cafe is a good place to eat, hang out, and visit with friends. I will definitely return, and I encourage all of you to try some of the vegan items. You won't regret it! read more

Some of the friendliest staff you'll find out there, yummy food and drinks, cute decor and lots of fun books, and non-edible treats to delight your senses as well (artisan candles, books, fun(ny) cards, wares created by local/independent artists). They're also (WELL BEHAVED) dog friendly! Check out the natural chicken and/or turkey "chips" they have on sale for the puppies (assuming your dog isn't allergic to poultry!) and you dog will LOVE you even more than they already do! Quite possibly my new favorite spot for avocado toast. I have to mention that the fried egg was absolutely PERFECT. Idk what sorcery this place is doing in the kitchen but I'm in awe of merely the egg. It's also worth mentioning that the toast they're using "thick cut sourdough" is equally impressive. The toppings are plentiful & there will literally be enough for a second helping that falls on your plate. They honored a "dine in only" Yelp check in incentive of a free coffee which added to my delight. My daughter raved about this place and insisted I join her for breakfast. Ordered avocado toast. $12 seemed a little pricey for 2 slices of sour dough bread, mashed avocado with a fried egg on top and no additional sides. It was a tasty treat...until I hit a crunchy piece of egg shell. Then I was done. The atmosphere is why I give it 4 stars because it had a cozy warm vibe and the owner was bustling about with a big smile. Great location too. read more

Roasted: visited Khepri cafe since we had some time to spare this weekend. This place is in such a great location right next to the train. It's a cute cafe with good seating and fun greeting cards. I really liked it when I walked in. They greeted us when we walked in and were cordial enough when I asked a few questions about the product. I almost felt like I was bothering them. They carry sugar free vanilla as the only sugar free option but that's ok. I felt like the whole interaction was forced but with other customers - they were so much happier to be chatting with them. Maybe it's cause we aren't a regular. After we ordered our lattes - we sat down and waited nearly 10 minutes for them to be ready. Mind you - no one was in line ahead of us. No for here mugs which is a bummer because at this point we should be back to ceramic mugs. Latte was not great. Espresso was over pulled or sat too long as it brought on a very bitter taste. Milk was good though - creamy foam and perfect temperature. Not my favorite place and probably wouldn't be back. Unroasted: coffee shop located next to the brown line is a great location for traffic. Big space as you walk in with 5 tables and plenty of seating. They also have a nice patio in front to watch the trains go by. The staff was friendly and answered most of our questions. They have one sugar free option available. We orders and took a seat and it did take about 8 min for 3 drinks when we were the only people in the shop. When they brought out the drinks I was so disappointed not to receive a mug. If I wanted a To-go cup I would had went Starbucks. The State Farm sleeve is tacky also. Now my latte was slightly burnt and is just okay. For the price I'd expect some latte art and some deeper taste. This coffee shop is great location and nicely decorated. Starbucks is down the street so it would be difficult for me to try this again. read more

This place is SO FRICKIN CUTE. It's actually got a really adorable shop situation, so you could pick up a few quick Christmas gifts while you're there. There's great seating if you want to stay and hang out, and a surprisingly wide variety of stuff I can't wait to try. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich, the AP seasonal salad (swapped farro for quinoa) and the butterfly pea latte. My fav was for sure the Chicken pesto sandwich, the quality and flavor of the chicken especially was not at all like your typical cafe sandwich! Everything else was great as including the atmosphere. In addition to the wood chairs in the picture I posted there is also a cozy leather love seat sofa and two upholstered chairs. The only negative thing is that the food and drink took awhile so if I was in a rush that could've been annoying but they guy there is new so that is totally understandable. There's also some local art work, jewelry, and packaged edible products being sold inside which I thought was a nice touch. I will definitely be back! read more

This is, by far, one of my favorite places to get coffee in a city with many amazing coffee shops. The kombucha on tap is phenomenal. Espresso drinks are always on point. Don't miss the soups. But the two best parts are the vibe and the owner. The vibe is chill but focused -- a place where you can relax or work without that "a million corporate drones doing miserable busywork" feeling I get at other places. The owner is thoughtful and sensitive. Just a great person. I am trying to spend less on indulgences like draft kombucha but I feel good supporting this local gem. read more
