Dr Khouri has been my dermatologist for several years, I have received IPL laser, botox, fillers... I even use the skin cream that she makes. I may be able to get services cheaper somewhere else, but I don't trust anyone else with my skin. She has an eye for what will look good, and she will even decline to do something if she doesn't think it will benefit you, or if she thinks it may not look good. I went to see Dr. Mae Gutierrez because my thumb nail was lifted up when I had a fall. The nail was very painful in the nail bed and it appeared to be Infected. She treated me with an oral antibiotic and cream and explained that in a few days when the antibiotic starts to work that the pain will go away and to remove the acrylic and polish to allow the medicine to work and also to keep it covered with a bandage to prevent injury. I have been going to this group for many years and have recommended them to my family and friends. Everyone has had a positive experience with the doctors. Highly recommend for all your dermatology needs including cosmetic dermatology and pediatric dermatology. read more

Was hoping for a sample or two to get by for acnegenic skin considering the 150$ fee. Instead was told about all the over the counter products that my 36 year old skin has seen for 15 years. I'm sure she is helpful for other types of skin conditions but not in particular for this. Will try a facial down the road. read more

I had to find a new dermatologist because my insurance company no longer had an agreement with whom I had been seeing. Based on reviews I selected Susana Leal. So much for reviews. The WORST. I arrived early to complete my new patient paperwork. Then I was allowed to wait 30+ minutes past my appointment time to be put in a room. That's bad, but this doctor couldn't have spent less time with me, unless she didn't come into the room at all. I have on-going sun related issues, so I see a dermatologist every six months. I asked for a body exam...she looked at my face and back within a couple of minutes, used the nitros on two places, then she was gone. I have issues on my hands and legs from the sun, but she was gone. I asked if she was coming back and was told that she was finished with me. The only way I will see her again is if there isn't another dermatologist available in Dade County. By far, the worst dermatologist I've seen. And that takes a lot to say. If I could give zero stars, I would have!! read more

I was (and remain) disappointed as, after I compared the reputations of various dermatologists, I chose Dr Susana Leal-Khouri, made my appointments (2) but have still barely met her. On my first visit, she entered the examination room (at least once, possibly twice) for only a couple of minutes, apparently to check on her assistant's progress and perhaps to provide (an apparently much needed) confidence boost for both the assistant and the patient. Instead of dealing with the doctor I selected after at least a couple of hours of research (online and by checking with friends), my examination and treatment were conducted primarily by the physician's "assistant" about whom I knew nothing prior to my first visit. After a follow-up visit, where I was seen exclusively by the same assistant, all I know now is that this assistant (who may or may not be a "Physician's Assistant") has considerably less experience in dermatology than anyone else I have ever seen for care of my skin. I am reluctant to be more critical of my actual exam and treatment as, with more experience and training, the assistant who saw me may eventually become a fine physician. But for now, I would say my treatment (application of liquid nitrogen to remove a dozen or more actinic keratoses (AK) from the backs of my hands, my face and my scalp) was applied rather "tentatively." The results supported this perception (based on experience with other dermatologists who have retired or moved away) that the liquid nitrogen was applied either too briefly or from too far away. Many, and perhaps all, of the AKs I can see (on my hands and face) or feel o my scalp have returned after approximately one month. Frankly, I am grateful for the assistant's hesitancy (which I thought at the time suggested inexperience resulting in a lack of confidence); at least no harm was done (except to my checkbook). One more observation: prior to each visit, I spent approximately an hour in the waiting room.(despite being told my second visit was the the first scheduled appointment of the day). Other patients came in as I waited, and I overheard at least three or four patients sharing their frustration with long waits during prior visits to this practice's Key Largo office. I observed two patients as they lost their patience and complained to the receptionist and, in one case, I watched a patient complain and then storm out angrily, swearing to never return due to repeated experiences with excessive waiting times. During that same visit (my second), I received a much appreciated apology and explanation for my long wait; I was told that two staff who were scheduled had not shown up. Being unexpectedly short-handed is a reasonable explanation for a delay. But, long waiting times appear to be a recurring problem, at least at Dr Leal-Khouri's office in Key Largo, and it is costing the practice some of its patients. read more

Dr. Khouri was terrific. I was able to get an appointment quickly, and my waiting time was very short in the office. She explained to me what procedure she should perform, and her reasons. All went well. Her staff was great, as well. Would recommend her to anyone needing to see a dermatologist. First of all, I don't have insurance. At all. I'm a part-time employee getting paid $8.97 an hour. I'm not rich. So believe me when I say that I was actively searching for an affordable place. There are MANY dermatology offices in my neighborhood, but they all charged ridiculously for JUST a consultation! I called around, found this place - the rest was history. They're actually pretty far from me, but so worth the drive! The staff is so nice. Very polite and professional. I went for the first time because I had gotten ring worm (gross) on my FACE. So I wanted the BEST. After all, it was my FACE! They treated me right away, and in a week, I was good as new. I went again to remove a mole. Compared prices. Still the cheapest in town. I went an hour early, and they didn't make me wait until my appointment time! They took me right then and there. Did the procedure. I was in and out in TEN minutes! Yanesy was the assistant/nurse. She was AMAZING. I admit, I was a little anxious about the procedure. She reassured me, answered all my questions patiently. Dr. Khouri came in, and she even drew a diagram to explain the process for me. I really appreciated that! She gave me all my options, and made sure I knew all the details. Then the procedure was super quick. 5 minutes, tops! The anesthesia shot hurt a little bit for a few seconds, and then it was over! SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. They are all so amazing, and my PERMANENT dermatologist. Definitely recommend!! read more

Not a good experience. I had to wait like 3 weeks to get an appointment and when I got there, had to wait for about an hour in the waiting room. When i got in the room, I was surprised to see a Physician's Assistant come in to see me. She asked all these questions, did the exam, gave me a prescription and that was it. I asked where the doctor was. After all, I made the appointment with HER, not the assistant, and the assistant told me that the doctor doesn't see patients except in specific cases. WHAT???? And I had to pay hundreds of dollars for that??? I was extremely angry and left and have never gone back. read more

One of the worst doctors and most money hungry I have been to in my life. I went to her with a skin condition that should have been diagnosed by sight, but she had to take a biopsy to know what it was. Let me rewind to my first appointment though. She took a look at it, had no idea what it was and just rattled off a bunch of prescriptions for me to fill. The eczema had spread to my face and she prescribed me acne medication?! None of them really worked so I went back for a biopsy and the biopsy came back as normal when clearly my skin was not normal. She did not care to call the lab to get additional information. I called my Primary doctor, in tears, and he called Quest in order to get more information and was able to get the correct diagnosis and put me on the correct medication. Problem was solved through my primary doctor when it should have been resolved by a dermatologist. I still have nightmares of my 2 appointments here. read more
