I am a patient of Dr. Khouri, and I am currently undergoing reconstruction. I can only feel gratitude toward him and his entire team (you are the best!!). I was first diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in 2019, and I underwent lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. After a second cancer diagnosis in 2024 (this time hormonal), I decided to undergo a double mastectomy. I chose to stay flat because implants and flaps were not for me. I had healing issues and developed necrosis in a large area of tissue, which also formed keloid scars And fibrosis. The tissue started to become increasingly stiff, and the doctors I saw in Spain told me that if I did nothing, the problem would worsen over time. This tissue would continue to adhere more and more to my chest bones, and I would lose more and more mobility. I visited many surgeons until I found Dr. Khouri (thank you, internet!). Dr. Khouri was the only one who gave me a non-mutilating option: a full reconstruction using my own fat. I am a slim person, but that hasn't been a problem at all. Dr. Khouri is very experienced in working with all kinds of patients, and his track record in fat transfer surgery is incomparable to that of any other surgeon. He is a pioneer, and for me, that makes all the difference. Since I started treatment with Dr. Khouri a few months ago, I feel that I will be able to put an end to a very complicated phase of my life. My opinion: Dr Roger Khoury is not a good surgeon, he destroyed my hand. He performed liposuction on my abdomen, surgically attached to my hand a weird contraption I believe he invented and inserted metal rods into my hand without clearly explaining all of these procedures to me beforehand. All of this to alleviate my arthritic condition. According to him the surgery did not go well and I went through hell for three months. I saw him at his office in May 2023 and have not seen him in person since then, mind you I had surgery in June and July 2023. Be wise, avoid the Miami Hand Center and Roger Khoury MD. read more

Incredibly I only discovered that khouri had operated on me from my insurance company. I met with a different dr who said he was doing my surgery. Aetna told me that the Miami breast center charged them $140,000 for my surgery in November. There are no words to describe the lack of professionalism at the Miami breast center. They told me I didn't have to worry about getting a pre op ekg before the surgery . I was told to arrive at 7 am. I was not brought into surgery til 11 am and didn't leave the surgery center til after 7 pm. After watching Trafficked, which showcased where my "surgeon" had worked & had 2 patients die, I figured out why. I had tremendous post operative pain and begged Rosie and nurse Annie to call 911 for 3 torturous hours. I couldn't move my arms & every time they tried to get me to sit up I would faint. Over & over I begged them to call 911 and they refused. After 3 hrs I finally made it into a sitting position and they promptly wheeled me out. My friend took one look at me in MBC parking lot & asked nurse Annie if I should go to the ER. Nurse Annie said "no I'd be fine". The pain was so excruciating I called 911 from the car. The ambulance took me to UM where I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. They said they had to transfer me to where Dr Calva had privelages- mercy hospital. I begged them not to because of my last experience there where my mastectomy was performed. At Mercy they claimed they had no records from UM so they did their own imaging and suddenly my embolism " had disappeared ". However I was admitted to the ICU anyway. Nobody could tell me why. After I was moved to another floor I had to get a blood transfusion for internal bleeding. Still no explanation. Later Dr Calva called me & left a message saying I was ruining his livelihood and denied that I ever had internal bleeding or a PE. He also said I should be thanking him for "saving my life"?They usually don't admit you to icu after a breast fat transfer & then keep you in the hospital for 4 days for no reason... I will post my records proving my statements because I'm aware of how litigious they are. Everything I am stating is a verifiable fact so don't bother calling me or have your lawyer write me threatening letters. It's interesting that so few negative reviews are written when there is an entire support group of patients who've had surgery there. Ps 1 year later & the only fat retained from the transfer is under my right armpit after the wire like sutures came undone leaving with no hope of ever having a breast crease since Dr khouri release ALL of tissue on my chest. Dr. Khouri specializes in natural breast augmentation. He's a leader in research on micro fat grafting and the use of BRAVA. Fat transfer is a great alternative to saline or silicone implants because it means there's no chance of rejecting a foreign object in the body, no cuts or incisions, its minimally invasive and low downtime. Only catch is the price is quoted at around $15k. With this type of procedure, I've seen it range from $10k to $20k, so this isn't a shocker for what it is. Also, this procedure is fairly new and there aren't that many studies on the longterm effects. Early studies have addressed issues such as breast cancer detection and calcification issues which cause lumpiness, or uneven breast size or maybe false positives for cancer. If you're considering this procedure, make sure you do your research and look at RealSelf.com. I've talked to his assistant, Cindy. She's friendly and great with questions in the beginning. (when you get to know her, she actually has a terrible attitude. Very unfriendly and rude). This is a surgery so you obviously shouldn't do this on a whim, but on top of that, you really can't do it on a whim. Very bad doctor, he's a butcher, I had a trigger finger and he did a surgery, he didn't do previous studies or an ultrasound, he did a bad surgery, he didn't follow up after the surgery, it never healed and now I can't bend the finger, he use a needle in my hand and cut a tendon, and also caused nerve damage that turned into adhesions and fibrosis which makes it impossible for me to move the finger and hand, I visited another doctor and I will have to do another surgery to recover a little movement, with the tendon broken I will no longer be able to have a 100% hand function again, be very careful with this doctor read more

I have never encountered a more unprofessional doctor than Dr. Khouri. He was dismissive of questions/comments about my injury, raised his voice at me in front of his colleagues & patients, and did not keep the room door closed during our visit (so privacy was non-existent). Potential patients BEWARE! My wife was seen by an Urgent Care facility on Wed., Aug. 3rd who took x-rays, splinted, and gave a diagnosis of right distal radius fracture. She was advised to see an Orthopedic/Hand Specialist. On Fri., Aug. 5th she was seen by Roger Khouri, M.D. who did not use the xray report from Urgent Care. Instead a technician took x-rays. While he and another doctor was reviewing, the other doctor mentions to Dr. Khouri, "...she's a teacher." Dr. Khouri then states, "...you need surgery. You'll need pins and a plate." She was ushered to Christina who scheduled surgery for Tues., Aug. 9th. The following are our observations during the office visit: *Nowhere on the forms does it ask for PCP (Primary Care Physician) contact information! *Dr. Khouri did not ask if we have questions or explain if there were other options to surgery! * A medical assistant, replaced the splint with a cast. My wife stated that the splint (done by Urgent Care) provided better support and she experienced less pain. *NO PRE-OP (blood work, blood pressure check, etc.) was done or scheduled prior to surgery!!!!! *Surgery is not done at a hospital, but at a building Dr. Khouri has for surgeries!!!!! Dr. Roger Kourhi, Miami Breast Center, completed breast reconstruction, on me following a bilateral mastectomy and a botched reconstruction performed by doctors at Moffit Cancer Center. Dr. Kourhi began with almost the impossible, 900 cc. implants inserted by Moffit. I had what is known as a uniboob and vertical scaring. Dr. Kourhi removed the painful implants and transferred fat to make 2 perfectly normal looking breasts. The breasts are amazing and move with my body. They feel and look natural. Other surgeons refused to help me and wanted me to return to the doctor at Moffit that had created a failure. From my first meeting with Dr. Kourhi until my office visit today.. DO NOT BE FOOLED. STAY AWAY! Dr K is like a mad scientist and his patients are the guinea pigs. I went to Dr K for breast reconstruction after a bi-lateral mastectomy & radiation treatment. I underwent several surgeries. He does not warn you of the excruciating pain you will wake up in. He describes the pain as mild and claims you can be back to work in 1 week. IMPOSSIBLE. He also fails to tell you the sites from which he removes fat will drain with clear liquid and blood. This gets everywhere! I was in extreme pain after my first surgery yet needed to get out of bed and wait to have all my sheets changed as they were soaked through and through. After my second surgery I bought bed liners (similar to puppy pads but much larger). He performs these surgeries at his building, huge mistake! God knows what happens behind those closed doors. One of my surgeries was scheduled to begin at 8:00am and I was not wheeled back until 2:00pm and was not out of surgery until 9:00pm?!!!! While I was in the recovery room able to hear but still unable to communicate or even keep my eyes open I hear yelling and panic and "Call 911". I was terrified! It turned out the women recovering next to me had a punctured lung and she needed to be taken to the ER. They are so disorganized with their paperwork, scheduling, insurance and they seem to create the oddest numbers as a deductible payment. Then I had to pay for devices not covered by my insurance company. The device ended up being something I was told was on the verge of being approved by the FDA and it was for that reason I needed to pay for it out of pocket. Then he bills the insurance company an outrages amount because of his specialty surgery. In my opinion it is all a scam and racket just so that he can "test" this technique. After my first surgery I was given instructions for my aftercare. Three months later after my second surgery, I was given a different set of aftercare instructions claiming that they realized this *new* method produced better recovery/results. Three months later after my third surgery, a *new* and *better* aftercare procedure was in place? I realized, this doctor has no set protocols. He said one thing during the pre operative consultation then on the day of surgery the game plan was always changed. After my second surgery, I was told a nail was inserted into my clavicle as part of a device used to create a fold, I was NEVER informed that was even a possibility. But because the doctor is very enthusiastic and convincing I believed him when he said the results looked beautiful and that we were on the right path. After my final surgery with him, something didn't look right so I went to him several times post op and he assured me I was healing properly. This time I ended up with a massive infection & developed necrosis at the site of the incision. After three weeks an intense horrendous smell developed. During a shower, an opening in the area of the necrosis developed and all the fat just poured out. The horrendous smell was the RANCID fat that was underneath. The smell was so potent i had to air out the apartment. The necrosis fell off and I was left with a huge grapefruit size hole in my chest. I never went back. But that is not even where my experience ends. About 2 years after that experience, I needed an MRI. My oncologist called me very concerned because of findings on my ribs. As a cancer patient, my heart was in my throat for weeks. It turned out to be DAMAGE he created by inserting and removing the cannula he uses to insert the fat. He SCRAPED my ribs! Also, the fat created cysts and that made reading my MRI very difficult and my oncologist strongly recommended I have all the fat removed. I could go on and on with what I have seen during my time at the office and what I had learned from reaching out to several of his patients. We created a small support group. He has destroyed and disfigured many many women, I am just one of them. His liposuction technique is so elementary I am left with divots, strange lines and odd lumps all over my body. He's a brilliant sales person. He has an excuse for all negative comments and outcomes. I know I fell for it because of his passion and what I mistook as sincerity at a time I was very vulnerable and wanted badly to believe he could in fact deliver results that other surgeons said were not possible. read more

Please be very aware that Dr Roger Khouri is not as skilled as he makes himself to be. I had to recently report him to the Florida Department of Health for excess treatments, lack of quality of care, insurance fraud - specifically double billing and double payment from self pay agreement and my major medical insurance, and failure to provide a proper detail super bill of my last surgery on August 25, 2017. I paid him 10K and when my insurance was reinstated he billed my insurance too and refused to reimburse me for my 10K. His billing manager Margarite Cordova is also a liar and con job. They tried to do the same billing routine on me back in December 2016 but I was able to recover my 5K back then because I paid with my Credit Card. I paid via wire transfer because I knew I could be reimbursed by my insurance as a self pay but his Office Manager Rosie Toledo refused to provide a detail bill to my insurance company so I can be reimbursed. Rosie Toledo and Margaret Cordova keep changing their stories that my 10K was my deposit then they said once all my insurance claims were paid they would pay me back. That is a big fat lie. Do NOT go to this Doctor as other plastic surgeon have said that he is extreme and my current plastic surgeon is doing correction work on the damages that Dr Khouri did also. I had to find another plastic surgeon in CA to correct all the extreme fat grafting that he did on me for 3 years. He never ever told me about post lipo suction care after each fat grafting procedure. I am a Breast Cancer Survivor and his negligence is harmful as it caused lymphatic blockage and I gained weight and could not work off the fat. I have spent over 1.5 years getting treatments to unblock my lymphatic system and help remove the lumpy bumpys caused by his excess treatments and negligence. Would give zero if possible. My wife had "outpatient" surgery with Dr. Khouri earlier this year. He lied to us about his ability to take fat from her stomach in order to get the business. On the day of surgery he used her legs as donor sites instead. She still has numbness in her legs and they look horrible. She was far to skinny for fat graft. And EVERY BIT of the fat has reabsorbed. And for that misery Khouri charged about $40,000.00. We were told to be at the so-called "surgery center" at 7:00 a.m. At 10:30 p.m. my wife was still in recovery after a five hour surgery that didn't begin until 4:15 p.m. She should have been in a hospital after such a procedure. She dizzy and nauseous but the staff was tired and trying to rush her out the door. They packed her in the car dripping blood and IV fluid from her legs. The "nurse" started an IV at around noon when we were threatening to leave-just to keep us there. And then we had to insist that they reinsert it to stop the tingling in her arm. I should also mention that as we sat all day waiting for surgery to start we could hear other patients moaning in pain (he also does hand surgery). We should have run then! In my opinion, Khouri is a charlatan, only out to make money. After the excellent treatment we received during my wife's primary cancer surgery, we felt like we were in a third world country at Key Biscayne. I could go on at length about how amazing Dr. Khouri is, but I'm lazy. However, if you're wanting one on one discussion, I'm available. But, here's the highlights: Don't go to him if you're looking for a minor nip/tuck. His procedure is for the massively disfigured, specifically by breast cancer. After a double mastectomy reconconstrion was an epic failure, multiple local surgeons here suggested him as I was beyond their skill to repair otherwise. Patience. It took a year of multiple surgeries, a lot of scars and pain, and the insane contraption I had to wear for weeks glued to me (no showers!) but now I look amazing again. Scars fade and I only get residual pain in one armpit occasionally from the internal sutures that remind me how lucky I am to have survived breast cancer. Recovery is awful, messy, and completely miserable. It is not the time to try and be brave and endure it without pain meds. It's been 15 months, I am so happy now. I'm working to lose weight so I can go back for one more final adjustment session to fix awful scars on my belly from the failed TRAM and do some final adjustments to the breast shape. I'm a BRCA1 patient and I had to get a prophylactic double mastectomy. Dr. Khouri and Dr. Calva have gone above and beyond to reconstruct beaaauuutiful breasts for me. I had implants for a while and they were the absolute worst. I now have natural, soft, warm and stunning breasts that is made with JUST fat, no implants. On top of it the fat transfer process contoured my body and I honestly look way better than pre mastectomy. LOVE LOVE LOVE everyone at Miami Breast Center!! Bad results and horrible care. Khouri did not listen to a patient who been through the ringer and knew what preop meds were needed. Single pill (Emend) to ease extreme nausea was denied. After surgery, felt like I had just had my ass kicked in a back alley brawl. For weeks. The bruising made my long time Internist gasp in horror. This was for reconstruction. Take your time to read all the negative reviews and notice how similar they all are. These women tell the same story and yet this man is still practicing. I ended up with cellulitis and abscess caused by an INTESTINAL bacteria at surgery. I had to have urgent surgery after going to the ER on my own after Dr. Khoui and staff tried to treat me remotely with oral antibiotics. I ended up losing the right breast implant it was so badly infected. I am now left with a mangled right breast and a partially finished left breast and cannot have surgery for months because of the infection. He operates in an antiquated surgical suite above his office and though I never saw the recovery room because I had been so heavily drugged during surgery, my husband did, and said it was not clean. I have had many surgeries but the post-surgical weeks after this surgery were the worst days of my life. He promised me the moon; warm, sensate breasts with minimally-invasive surgeries. I was 28yrs old when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, decided to get a double mastectomy and reconstruction. After the implants were not natural looking nor did I have any feeling in my chest and back and they caused me pain, did I then decide to go to Dr. Khouri for the fat transfer. Him and his staff are amazing and the fat tissue transfer is the second best to having your own breasts. He takes his time and ensures that he is giving you the best results. Although the process is done in several surgeries (3), it was worth the wait and outcome of having fat tissue as your breasts. He gave me back what I thought I lost forever. His staff is amazing and caring and I recommend him to every single or double mastectomy patient out there. When I show other mastectomy patients my results, I always get the same reaction. They cry with joy because they are cancer free and still have a chance to look their best. They make me feel like apart of the family every time I am there. After meeting Dr. Khouri and having reconstructive surgeries I would describe him as a visionary; an ingenious surgeon who has the passion, dedication and perseverance to give women a much better option for reconstruction than implants or invasive flaps. I did not have enough tissue for a flap and my body would not have tolerated an implant so I am most grateful to Dr. Khouri for his amazing skills and dedication to this innovative procedure he developed. We were amazed to see that he did create a breast on a concave chest wall that not only looks natural but has warmth and feeling! The procedure includes what is called a RAFT. As with any surgery you can expect some pain and an occasional minor post-op issue but they were manageable and dissipated with some time. The nurses were great and always took good care of me both pre-op and post-op. I found I didn't really need to take any pain meds post-op. I plan to have one last surgery to achieve a bit more symmetry but have to say that so far my results have been very impressive. Kudos to Dr. Khouri. read more
