My favorite thing is that I don't have to invite a stranger into my home to be alone with them for hours. The accountability from more people being present and the webcams make this more attractive than babysitters and the cost is comparable, so why not?! I heard about Spontaneity from a neighbor and I was immediately intrigued. We moved to Edmond a few months ago and I love it, but I miss my network of kid watchers and my mother in law! So, a drop in kids center sounded amazing. There are three steps to get in: 1. Take a tour. 2. Schedule an interview/meeting (review their policies with them). (2a. Sign up for webcam service--not required, but a benefit) 3. Drop your kid off. We visited for the tour and we were pleasantly surprised that our child was invited to play while we talked. We came at a busy time (Saturday evening) so we really got to see the place in action. The front door is locked and the gal at the desk has to let folks in (we gave a code we'd like for the door, so not sure how that works as everyone got buzzed in). The lobby area has a place to leave shoes and coats and there are special socks they like the kids to wear to avoid losing socks and for hygiene. We came back a week later to interview and our kiddo got to play then. This is great for those kids that haven't done school or been away from parents much to see how they do in a care setting. A few days later we dropped our kids off (five months and almost 4 years). I loved being able to watch them if I got that "I wonder how they're doing" feeling and being able to SEE everything. Also, they round time to the minute, so if you think you'll be 3 hours, but actually are 2.5, you'll get charged for two full hours plus a half--not three. read more

Thank you Yelp! From Cassandra's review mentioning webcams, to Steffanie's review detailing the total cost, I felt like I had enough information to get our little girl registered a few months ago when the woman who had been watching her on Mondays and Fridays went back to work. I knew this wouldn't cover everything, but I knew it would help to have an option. I now have someone helping us at home those two days, but she needed today off, and I desperately still needed to work. Our Mothers Day Out is also over at 2:30, so I can imagine some days when I will need to get her from there and bring her by here so I can get more of a full work day in when JJ's grandmothers are not available. The registration process is reassuringly lengthy - they are not even playing with this! They ask for a lot of important info and require current immunization charts (huzzzah!). It took them a few days to approve our application, but once you're pre-approved, you can bring your kiddo anytime. They charge a once a year fee of $70 per family and then $10 an hour for one kid. The price goes down to $15 per hour for two kids, and so on. Not too shabby, and the registration fee will quickly pay for itself if we use this much at all. She had an awesome day. She was happy to see me, but didn't really want to leave, and I think that is perfect. She lingered for a long time on the front patio smelling the flowers and then tried to get back in. We haven't activated the webcams but we will, not so much to check up on them but just to see how much fun she must be having. They supply snacks and lunch for a $4 charge per snack/lunch. Honestly, on a day like today, it was so worth it to not have to worry about what I would pack for her lunch. There is a 6-hour, DHS-mandated maximum, and you are heavily penalized for going over, so this really is a "Drop In" and not an all day thing. Today I needed to pick up our daughter by 3:50 to beat the 6 hour mark, and I got there at 3:30. But, she played so hard, she fell asleep about 5 minutes into the car ride and didn't even wake up when I got her out of her seat, so I'm back at my desk and back at work with a napping baby! We were recently gifted spontaneity gift cards, we have a brand new baby and 2 toddlers. Dropping my 10 week old new baby off was hard but the staff made me feel like they really cared for him and they made an effort to write down my concerns and instructions. When I picked my kids up they welcomed us with a smile and raves about how good my two month old did. My big kids ran off to play before we could even say goodbye because they love and look forward to going. This place is fantastic. Referred here by a friend and Blythe and her crew have been a huge life saver. $50 registration fee and they will need to see vaccination records each year. $10 and hour 1 kid $15 for 2. It's already helped so much so my husband and I could actually have a date night, I can get stuff done that would take twice as long with a spunky lil 2 1/2 year old. And he loves all of the kids. He never wants to leave. I told my cousin she should figure out how to open one in San Diego! Haven't activated the camera yet but it's on my list to do this week. read more

We absolutely LOVE Spontaneity. My son has been going since he was an infant, and he's two now. I originally used it because I was in a jam at school, but we've consistently used it since then. It's great for date nights, running errands or days we don't need full-time care. Ms. Jazzy and Ms. Mary are GREAT with drop offs. He always runs to greet them with a hug and waves goodbye with no problems. Which I'm so thankful for because drop offs are usually pretty rough on my little one. The women that work here have always been so kind and accommodating. They also have an app that you can check the webcams and see how your LO is doing. They'll give you step by step instructions on how to set it up, and it's super easy from there. Overall, we love it because of how much our son loves it. I hope this review helps someone who may be on the fence about drop off care. read more

The workers do do look professional at all. When I picked my kids up, my son had pee all over his pants and just let him sit in it for no telling how long. I would not recommend this place. read more

Most of the staff seemed nice and friendly. One of my toddlers cried at drop off and Jasmine really rudely says "you need to calm down! Just stop it!" My son is 2. That's not very nurturing. My 2 year old has a hard time when I leave him. My 3 year old is much better at drop offs and enjoyed going. The other staff seemed nice but we stopped going because of that rude statement. I don't think anything majorly terrible is going on but I didn't like how she wasn't comforting when my son cried a little. I would've never left my kids if I thought something terrible was happening there but I think that jasmine could've been nicer. My 3 year old enjoyed playing there so if something bad happened he would tell me. They never set up my code to get into the building so I always had to wait at the door for someone to unlock it- not that big of a deal but I do have two little kids with all their stuff with me just waiting at the door and I always ask and can never get an answer. I asked how to watch the cameras and was first told I had to wait 24 hours before I could get access which made no sense, my kids were there. Then next week I asked again how. Was told to down load their app - didn't get the name of it before the staff member rushed off the check someone else in. The place seemed clean which is a plus. And like I said, the other staff members were always friendly and comforting towards my kids but jasmine. They didn't make me or my kids feel bad if my little one cried at drop off. read more

Apparently if you question their staff about what goes on at their facility you are labeled unkind and it is suggested you go elsewhere. I don't think questioning them about why I was not called when my child is injured and there is a lasting mark on them is unkind. Nor is it unkind to question about an infant being grabbed and dragged by the arm. Nor about my child not receiving a diaper change in over 3 hours even though their website states diaper changes are done every hour. I dont think it is unkind to question what "trash" baskets infants are being allowed to get into and what type of "dirty" towels are being placed in there that my child and other children are playing with. I don't think it is unkind to ask how long my child is being left in a bouncer or why she was the only infant taken to an area with older children. But by all means if my questioning what is going on at the facility and giving them a chance to explain is unkind, then shame on me for caring about my child. read more
